I found myself going back to knitting in the evenings before bed. I forgot how much more fluid my thoughts became while having my hands busy and I was able to reflect on the day or week without it sending my feelings or thoughts to chaos. It's certainly not as refined as a stoic nighttime routine but I feel better making a warm hat or scarf instead of zoning out on a netflix binge lol.
If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
I do 5 or 10 pushups everytime I have the slightest thought about doing it. It makes the blood rush to my head and I become more conscious about what I'm doing.
I like spending evenings doing chores needing to be done, pack my bag for the next day and also plan my next day or days. Also looking back on what I had a hard time with school today and what i need to focus on tomorrow. Ive accepted that during evenings my focus to study or do things requiring high concentrating usually flies out the window. But i dont wanna waste time anyways so i do things that almost go on autopilot.
Nighttime routines are a great habit do develop, as they can affect everything else. Habits are so poverful that I even created a yt channel about them. They are key to joy and success.
For the last few days, I’ve repeated “Thank you God for all the blessings I have and for all the blessings I am receiving” hundreds of times. This video and your channel are one of those blessings. Thank you. 🙏🏽
New to this channel. It probably appearead because of my interest in Stoicism. I might say that evening routine is even more important that morning routine. I'm also struggling with the evening routine but I know that if I manage to find discipline to implement it there will surely be an increment in my willpower and in my results over time. I use a printed sheet of paper on my wall as a "Habit calendar", after reading the book "The One Thing" by Gary Keller and I managed to succesfully created the habit of going out first thing in the morning and reading one page from "The Daily Stoic" and write my own understanding of it in a journal. Anyone reading this could give this a try - print out a page of 66-days and try to build up a habit. Start again if you fail until you succeed. It can take a lot of time, but it's something to get back at after some periods of inactivity. Anyway, first time here, subscribing and whishing you good luck with everything! :)

Hey Nik! So I have been experimenting on nighttime routine too. My practice was simple yet it worked wonders for me. 1. I journal my thoughts on the day I had, in general or on something that's bothering me or something good that happened. This caused my mind to declutter, wind down to a great extent so the RAM is freed. 2. Meditation - after the journaling, mind automatically becomes calm enough and I am able to get deeper into dhyaan than with a cluttered mind. Almost always when i stick to this routine, I sleep better, sleep less and yet feel energized the next morning. But, as you said, I too binge-watch stupid stuff at night. Meh.
It's amazing how you can make a video where you discuss stoicism seriously and in an inspiring way, and also make a video hilariously making fun of it. That takes a powerful mind with lots of humility, a rare and opposing skill to have. definitely subscribing
I really need to start doing a routine and figure something out for myself. I’ve been struggling with a lot of depression and symptomology of my illness, and I would think having a better morning and night routine would help, I’ve even been missing the gym far too often and been struggling with my productivity and this experience I’m inside of. I feel like I’m not giving my all explosively throughout the day and need to switch up what I’m doing to alter the effects of my illness and experience. I’m glad your channel is growing I’ve been watching for awhile and am very excited to see how this channel has changed and you’re incorporating more art into it! Skill is built by learning what you don’t already I believe.
Hahaha the Peter McKinnon part made my life. 😂 Great video man. I spent a lot of money on Todd Herman’s productivity course thats basically the steps you outlined here. I hope whoever’s watching this can appreciate saving the $2k and just follow your instructions lol. Last thing. I want to pass along that my mentor once told me. We should only ever being doing two things. One is the highest value thing that brings us the most reward and alignment with our vision. The second relaxing and recharging in whatever way fills us up. So if you bust your balls all day doing your most valuable thing. Technically you could binge on Netflix at night and not feel guilty if it fills you up and recharges you and if you simply love it. I guess one could call this a hard work + active recovery cycle? Keep up the awesome. You’re going to be huge!
I feel exactly the same. I think that in our society we are constantly bombarded by dopamine in things like social media and porn etc. I think this video really resonates with me because the method is so powerful. You can almost escape the bombardment and see what you actually need to do. Thanks for this video, keep it up.
I just recently discovered your channel, and you already feel like a big brother to me; like someone who's my companion in the journey towards success. That is the biggest difference I feel towards your content and others: the fact that you seem to be here with us, instead of only a teacher. I am now on a NoFap, meditation, pranayama and running routine and really feel inspired because I feel like I have a partner who is struggling just like me, who's so relatable and with whom I can identify in a lot of levels. Would be really cool if there was a way to reach out to you directly, to discuss ideas and experiences. Peace and love, brother.
Great video, man! A nighttime routine has been a struggle for us after the kicking the days ass and dealing with that post dinner lethargy. THE ITUS IS REAL! This approach seems concise and achievable. As both sketch comedy artist and self building obsessors ourselves, your videos are a great happy marriage of both. Keep up the great work, and play the hell out of the niche! You've definitely made a unique place on the tube, and it's inspiring to see.
If you are new to this channel. His name is *NOT* Nick Hill (like it sounds). His name is actually Nikhil Pandey. Found out about this last week, even though I am subscribed for a long while haha
I just can repeat: you're super inspiring! I tried out your stoic morning routine advice (in particular journaling and the RAM-dump) and it's actually helping me a lot! Therefore I'll try the evening routine too. What I did when I was younger, and made me more resilient, was writing down 3 things I'm grateful for. Gratitude is powerful! Check out Shawn Achor's TED talk about: the happy secret to better work. I can imagine you'll find it interesting.
I’ve been on this nofap journey for half a year. A simple evening routine is the powerful way to reflect the day and give myself accountable in staying sober in the long run.
You always give great, practical advice. I love the idea of journaling before bed; I've only been doing it in thd morning. I'm not familiar with Seneca and his philosophy, but now I want to read his works. Thanks for the inspiration and advice 🙏
Love your videos! Would love to see a video on a list of stoic principles that you incorporate into your day to day life and the stoic philosophers you find inspiration from!

I do the same thing. It took me one month to make the habit of journaling. Before going to bed I write whatever mistakes I did today and what I should not do tomorrow. I know I will fail but I keep trying.
Informative video Nikhil. I already have a morning routine but I will also try the 3 step evening routine you mapped out to round out the day. Cheers..
Hey my spicy boi Captain S! I love the direction your channel is taking and I love seeing you blow up. Not sure if anyone else agrees, but I also really enjoy your ranting iPhone videos where you just talk about your life for 20 minutes, haha! I know you've got a vision for the channel, just putting in my 2 cents!
Something one of my mentors taught me was to not visualize about doing a task effortlessly, but rather visualize the task being mentally hard but you still complete it. For example, visualize getting out of bed to be extremely hard for you to do yet you manage to do it. We all have days when getting out of bed may seem like an impossible task, but we've managed to do it many times through our visualization. I just said visualization way too many times haha. What's your opinion on this?
my experience in general with these morning/evening routines, is that it will only give a marginal increment to your performance and happiness and quality of living, if the main pillars of your life are not solid: your relationships with your children, wife, parents, and friends and your career/job is unsatisfactory, it wont really matter how u start/end your days, u will feel like u are swimming in the ocean in a storm, now u got flippers, it s a bit easier, but it s still impossible to achieve any true meaning. i was struggling for years, always wondering, why is my life so empty, and eventually got hooked on the self-improvement cult, but didnt realize for a long time that it s not so complicated as it is presented: u only need to change a few bricks in your life, they will give u 90% of the results. focusing on every aspects of the equitation, overoptimalization of your day, making it "perfect" will only end paradoxically in less results. u will loose your focus from the important things. anyways, nice videos, keep up them man!
