I like how the N54 can take parts from the new B58. Sort of like reverse hammy downs lol.
I run NGK 2 step cold spark plugs gapped to spec .022 inches/0.56mm on a stock motor I'm getting ready to mod. Torqued to 17 ft lbs. Paired up with Eldor ignition coils. Car is very happy, about to hit 97k miles.

I have the 2 step colder gapped at 0.020" , 22 psi boost on 94 octane that has 10 percent ethanol , ran good for 10 thousands kilometers , just got a knock on wot near redline, the plugs are the first suspect, they're expected to have a short lifespan.

2009 E93 335i.....CP, DCI's, 5 in Wagner IC, ARM DP's, MHD stage 2+........I've been running the new stage 1 plugs since I put the stage 1 tune on 10 months ago. ~ 10k miles have passed since then. No issues until about 1k miles ago when it began to have the slightest misfire at cold start via my butt dyno. It just feels ever so slightly lumpy (nobody notices but me) until it gets some heat into it. Purchase everything from FCP, so I've been thinking about ordering up some new coils (replaced same time as the plugs) and giving the b58 plugs a try. Not sure just yet.....watching YOU guys to see what's best to try next!! Lol

0.46mm on 2 step colder plugs is what I use on 30 psi . But that also depends on what mixture (afr ure using at what rpm/boost level )and fuel type. No magic bullet honestly all depends on what ure tuning (fuel / mixture / boost level) and what logs look like.
Edit : repeating myself above but really there's too many variables that go into making that decision.

So the general consensus that I read about and was told was for every 100 or so hp you increase the engines performance by you should increase the heat range one step.. that being said I've been running my junk on one step colder plugs than factory since the beginning without any issues (yet)...
a bigger plug gap will burn more efficiently than a smaller gap providing there's adequate coil available where the smaller plug gap will not (blow out) under higher boost but will not burn as efficiently under low boost power levels... (at least as far as I'm aware)
either way good vid keen to see you wind it up some more amd smash your record 😁🤘

The superceded NGK 1 stage colder plugs were the 95770 (ILZKBR7B8DG). These were replaced by the 97968 (ILZKBR7B8G). What difference the 'D' makes in the number, I am not sure. @10:50 keep in mind outlets are different for RHD and LHD cars. The rear turbo has the cold side twisted a bit, and also the wastegate actuator sits in a different position. Also RHD cars have the steering column going right by the rear turbo outlet, therefore making it high-flow is a bit sketchy.

I turn off the car and turn it back on, car runs normal again, but I'm afraid to keep doing pulls like this. 😅
Could it be a gap issue? Do I need to go down to .022 instead? I have brand new fresh Eldors for the record. The only other thing I think would be injectors, but they're index 12s, and should be fine, but I guess I have never leak checked them and probably should.

Speak to your tuner. If you are using JB4 back end flash, the JB4 guys recomend 2 step colder.

Is it true that the top of the spark plug tip (where the boot connects) is different on n54 plugs vs b58 plugs? Because burger motorsport said you could potentially have misfires w n54 plugs & b58 coils?

So if I’m running a little lean and am running a 1 step colder, what would anyone recommend? Also gap as well?

Plugs steps won’t really effect lean or rich. What other symptoms do you have?

@@Eliasccv14 under load plugs definitely wont effect this, unless your current ones are faulty. Under WOT anything between 11 and 13 afrs is pretty normal. However you dont want your trims bottoming out. Might be worth posting a log on spoolstreet or E90post for peace of mind.
