Marc Cohn's voice sounds pretty close to the 'Closing Time' era Tom Waits - back before Tom's voice became forever the glorious barbed wire, whiskey & cigarettes growl.
I love the original so much.
Hard to cover Waits - you're hardly likely to improve on those versions - but Marc does a good job here.

Tom Waits’ song, & a great one, too ! Nicely done here !💜🌟🙏 (i forgot this was one of the last songs that i actually taught myself to play & sing after i saw Tom Waits, way back when. Not much of a song for a girl to sing, lol, but i’ve always been sooo feminine-androgenously-thinking, lol... Most people don’t quite get that, lol, o’ well... It’s just a good song, is all... Although, i never thot of myself as a ‘tom-cat,’ LOL , nor was i much of a drinker😊, so, instead of playing covers, i thot i’d try real life... LOL, not knowing there really wasn’t such a THING, sadly...(

Once in a while you have to watch a sappy love story to get away from all the garbage and violence we're inundated with from most Hollywood productions. Loved the song, but I tried downloading it with the Firefox addon that allows you to download most videos and that didn't work and neither did the addon download helper. So, I bought Tom Waits version. Yeah, I like the Tom Waits version, but it puts me in mind of too many drinks in too many bars. Haven't drank in over 30 years. Hey, not putting down drinking if you don't have a problem with it -- go for it!
Like Marc Cohn's version as I can relate to it without thinking of drinking but hey, he won't let you download it -- fine good for him make some money! Butt he doesn't sell it either. Couldn't buy it on Amazon anyway.
So, maybe most of you know this already I had to learn how to repeat youtube videos. There are three different ways the easiest for me was just to type in this all one word: youtuberepeat and you'll get your normal list of choices and the first one (using google) will take you to the website youtuberepeat (hmm, actually the url is listen on repeat where I'm at, but it works fine) where you can just type in the name of the video you want to watch. I typed in Marc Cohn I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love with You and this video came up and I let play for a long time while I was carrying out chores with a wireless headphone!

Think they added this but now if you want to auto repeat a youtube video you merely have to click the right mouse button and a drop down menu will offer the option to loop. Don't think that was there before.

Nice attempt. But he's competing with Tom Waits, and that's almost impossible. Love Marc's voice, but when Waits does this song, you'd swear he actually watching a girl across a gap between tables in a bar, with such abject poignancy, almost willing himself to forget she is even there.

The music is okay. But the concept is awkward... The castle is not the actual danish castle and the characters don't speak as much danish when they're in Denmark which I honestly expected and hoped for... AND by the way, Denmark don't have a king - they have a QUEEN!!
And in one of the scenes they are talking to the king of Norway? Do you mean King Harald? Or is this supposed to be so "old fashioned" and back in time that it is King Olav? Or maybe our future king (now crown prince) Haakon? And if not our crown prince and common king Haakon, it could have been our one day common Queen Ingrid Alexandra of Norway...
omg how hilarious and how ANNOYING that they ruin the scandinavian royal families... And mentioning "old fashioned"... The Queen of Denmark seems very "strict" (I mean in real life: If you don't know the queen personally, she would not allow you to say "Hey you". You would have to mention her titles when speaking to her), so I'm sure she would definitely NOT let anyone in into her family, especialley not that quickly, omg xD
