#7, the twin UPS trucks by Andrew. I have a little Sigma DP1 pocket camera with an older FOVEON sensor - the images need work in the Sigma software but well worth the trouble.
@@AndrewGoodCamera The DP1 (2008) didn't have DNG, just Sigma's own RAW and only its editors could handle it. Mattias Burling has a good video on the Sigma DP.
Hey guys, great to see you both back and with another photo duel too. Yay! Andrew sorry 😬 but Denae blew me away today. Too many photos to even number 💪🏼📷👊🏼🤩
PLEASE do that review soon. I'm fully invested in (and happy with) the Fuji system but I have a strange (masochistic?) fascination with the Sigmas. I have, but hardly ever use, a Sigma DP2 Merrill which is old and so slow but have an amazing image quality. I've been eyeballing a used Sigma SD Quattro H with the 18-35 and the 24-105 for about 1100$. I really don't need it and I'm not sure that I will use it that much because of the size but it won't stop shouting at me (GAS).
@Denae&Andrew Can you comment on the implications of an APS-H size sensor in terms of lens selection? For example would the 18-35mm 1.8 Art cover the full sensor or do you need full frame glass? I know the SDQ-H only has a 1.3 crop so I'm curious. Thanks :)
"Muitos Parabéns Danae e Andrew!" Today I'll choose #13 and #14 photos! You live in and work in a very different environment where I live. You have that big city, the desert and orange landscapes, I have small towns the forest and the sea. You thaugh me to take a new approach and shoot at things that I normally would not shoot at! Thanks a lot!
First, I have to say great video and video editing Andrew. Sound tracks are just gripping. #13 would be my first pick if I have to choose with close next to #14. Great work you guys.
@@denaebranch9313 I noticed that also checked that on SoundCloud. In fact I've been waiting for fresh track from him soon after I discovered Aim Focus Snap.
A lot of excelent compositions guys, but nr. 14 must be my favorite! Oh and Happy birthday Denae and Happy anniversary to a couple of inspiring parents and photographers!
Hey you both, Im planning a trip to Indonesia and would love to take my XT20, but at the moment I am a little afraid of gear damaging due to air moisture, dust and so on. Whats your opinion on that? Any tips? Thanks so much!
#6 and #11 are my favourites. I'm also looking forward to your thoughts on the Sigma Quattro, as that camera seems to have an almost cult-like following, and being able to shoot in 21:9 is a definite perk.... ...*does a quick Google* Wait.... Sigma's cameras... You can convert to infrared with a pair of TWEEZERS?!?!?! Literally, it's pretty much a drop-in filter, unlike everyone else which you have to have it sent in to be removed (and then use a hot mirror filter for standard photography)? ......And they're going to be moving their camera line to the L-mount in the "soon-ish" time frame. Well now. I'm going to have to think about that.
A chewed up camera body that still works? NICE! Did you fly back to SF? or was this all done during the one week you were there? So good! So jelly! I can't believe you are shooting in the same streets of China town (3:25) #24 (Danae) and #27 (Andrew) It's a TIE!!! So many great opportunities to get some amazing photos in Chinatown! Congrats on 14 years of marriage! Love you guys!
Haha. Thanks Lang. This was from that same trip. I just crammed the videos in that week. :) In fact, we have one more coming. We seriously need to shoot. Let's make a plan. Message me a weekend you can meet in a small town halfway.
My top vote goes to #4. But 7, 13, and 15 all jumped out as strong contenders. I love the constraint of an aspect ratio. Maybe a #throwbackthursday duel to when Instagram was only square?
#4 is a great composition of the street car, and ...what are those people doing to the right of frame. Interesting. That gets my vote. #23 is also good, the mahjong just pops in that exposure. Very cool.. Sorry Andrew, Denae takes it this time.
Such a quirky camera crop. I've explored the in-camera 16x9 framing on my X-series cameras, but that Quattro H is wiiiiide! My vote goes for #13. Love how Andrew could get an entire streetcar in, with such close proximity. A close second is Denae's #14!
Great video guys! I have the DP0 quattro for the same reason. Its the closest digital version to my Fuji TX-1 (XPan). Oh, and sorry Andrew... for this duel I'm partial to most of Denae's shots; both for composition and timing. But you both did great and I'm sure you had a lot of fun, which is all that matters. Keep up the good work. Be safe and well always!
Gotta go with 23. This has got to be my fav challenge so far. I love the cinematic quality of panoramic photography. After reading about the Sigma sensor I was super interested in using one but haven't had the chance. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it
I’m making a 21:9 photoset rn, so this was pretty inspiring. I wish shooting different aspect ratios were more available in-camera. I wonder if it’s hard to implement. How was shooting with the quatro in general?
@@AndrewGoodCamera As I've heard, the auto focus is only slightly better than an old Leica, so maybe manual focus was really the best choice. Hopefully it was at least enjoyably tricky.
why did you have to manually focus, was it because of the camera or just a challenge? I would also vote for #1, 13, 14, 19, 24, 27, #14 being my favorite and the best use of pano.
It's quirky. And I don't enjoy shooting with it. But I do love the photos I get with it. Colors are unreal. I may like them even more than Fuji, straight out of camera. But that's subjective.
@@mjones410 If you can abide the sprockets, yes. But stay tuned, I actually have a video I've been working on for over a year with lots of alternatives to the Xpan. :)
Hi there, long time lurker here. I get the feeling once you review the Sigma you are going to complain about the manual focusing...usually with your Fijifilms I see you both shot pretty consistently sharp shots....but this time around... :D
Yeah it's hard one for focus. It's not especially amazing AF and MF on that focus by wire is difficult. If it were possible to mount vintage glass, I think I'd like it more. But yes, between slow shutter and missfocus, softer shots this time around. :)
Nothing takes images quite like the Sigma Foveon does, but Goddamn is it slow, cumbersome, clunky and a heavy freaking body to work with, its such a shame, such an amazing sensor trapped in such a hideous beast of a body, sometimes I wonder if Sigma is trying to be too different that they scare off their customers, just give us a compact camera with a foveon and a 20 times zoom. Or at least make a proper full frame Foveon and DSLR body.
