At first I thought it was a UMP-45 but then realized the magazine was not big enough. Plus the 45 has way more stopping power than the 9 and that wasn’t what 007 was going for. Plus the 45 is at a slight weight disadvantage, by nearly 8 oz. when you’re a highly trained covert operative, like 007, you want ease of carry and concealment
I absolutely love this movie. It shows the emotions of Bond after losing Vesper perfectly and honestly I thought this was a great way to follow up Casino Royale. Whoever doesn't like this movie because it doesn't have every Bond cliché, such as the "Bond, James Bond" line, are missing the point of the movie.
The editing is less than great, but I too love this film. The story is just killer. A guarded, vulnerable and emotional Bond goes through the stages of grief after Vesper's betrayal, all while he's at the center of a political crisis that puts him on the most wanted list for both MI6 and the CIA. What's not to love? I think people sleep on the film HARD. It has so many well crafted and strong character moments, culminating in Bond finally forgiving Vesper and moving on.
I think this one of the better edited trailers, the way the scene reverts to Bond in the desert and finally submits itself during the title reveal is pretty cool.

It's obviously not at the level of Casino Royale or Skyfall, but 13 years after it released (time flies, right?) I still enjoy this film with every viewing.

The script of Quantum of Solace is pretty cool and classic Bond. My problem with it is that it's the first movie I've seen where the direction was noticeably distracting and I didn't feel immersed in it at all. A more suitable director would probably have made it better than Casino Royale as it had that potential.

Bond has morphed over the years into something that it wasn't initially, and that was incredibly popular for a time, so it's perfectly acceptable for you to enjoy that style of Bond. It's just that Bond is now closer to his roots than he ever has been, and I love that.
i reflect on this film each time i re-watch it. why i love this one best of all is b/c DC "locked it in" CR was the intro~ & absolutely wonderful. Yet QOS developed his character the best of all. for me anyways.
The great thing about Craig is his tonal quality and accent. He comes across as a gentleman without being stuffy. I think 007 is Judi Dench's best venue. Her dialogues are great.
@rooute666 Casino Royale was a reboot of the Bond films. It was basically the start of Bond becoming a double 0 agent. Quantum of Solace continued the story from Casino royale involving the same 'organistaion' of villans. The new film, Skyfall is a stand alone story.

From 'half monk-half hitman' to 'blinded with inconsolable rage' to M: 'Bond, i need you back' , Bond 'I never left'. Olga is hot, has genuine issues- mirroring Bonds and Bond doesn't get to bed her by snapping his fingers.

I'm going to watch this again.Last time i watched it about 3 years ago i thought it was pretty bad,maybe my expectations were too high but seeing as Skyfall is coming out next month and i've recently watched Casino Royale(again,as it's absolutely fantastic)i'm going to give this one another go to see if i missed anything,hope it's better second time round.
This movie is not bad at all. Can't believe people don't like this movie. The movie has a great plot, the acting/characters are great. The only thing that's bother me is that the movie only takes 100 minutes. I loved how almost every Bond-movie since Tunderball have been 2 hours and even some minutes longer. But that does not make the movie bad. 8.7/10 if you ask me. There's only two bad Bond-movies: On Her Majesty Secret Service and Moonraker!

This movie was a great follow up to Casino Royale. I don't know why people wanted the same movie. Casino Royale is my favorite movie of all time but its sequel doesn't have to be EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. And it was terrific.
