From impoverished Ashigaru soldiers marching through silver grass, to intense castle sieges raging through the night, the Shokuho team has prepared a gameplay video showcasing the significant progress we have made on the mod. This video is a celebration of everything we love about feudal Japan. Please enjoy!
Shokuho is a total conversion mod for the video game Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Set in feudal Japan in 1568, you will play as a samurai roaming across the turbulent Sengoku Jidai, right after the vicious Onin War. Play to expand and conquer the vast islands of Japan to establish your name and build a legacy worthy of remembrance in this warring state era.

Bannerlord could sell this as an expansion pack and I'd definitely buy it. This mod looks AMAZING. Also as a side note, whoever is editing your trailers and making music for them is exceptionally talented! This looks and sounds professional.

That's exactly how I feel. It almost feels wrong for this to be free, considering it literally looks more fleshed out than the base game itself.

they sold it as early access when it was like that. Without mods I never crash and barely encounter any bugs, much less than any other game. Especially with 1.2 patch, it is more than finished.@@narxes

This should be an official DLC for the game or a separate one for how good it is. I feel like it might be even better than what TaleWorlds manage to offer.

I love how COLORFUL it is. So often a sepia or grey filter is slapped over everything, and we forget that color fades in historical examples of armor more quickly than anything else. The armor is seriously beautiful.

The fact no big developer has ever made a proper Samurai / Sengoku Jidai melee / rpg / combat game is such a shame. Thank God for modders like these guys who do such incredible work for the benefit of other gamers !
There is the Sega game "Like a Dragon Ishin" but it might not be exactly what you're looking for, it recently got a remaster + Western release.
yeah like we overally have a very small amount of samurai theme games etc, and more funny its that most of games are not even from japan, like they prefer to make anime games instead to show their awesome history, same for other games like mmo's etc, theres all the time boring warrior classes, no samurai, and even if theres samurai class (final fantasy) its not even looks like samurai, i wish to have samurai class in POE2 for example etc, just some original classes etc, we got samurais in For Honor game, and they look like garbage with wooden armor not as samurais. Tbh atm theres only two good games for me in those climates, Shogun total war and Ghost of tsushima.

After playing hundreds of hours on the previous Gekokujo Mount & Blade 1 and then seeing this in work, I knew it would be well worth the wait. This has been on the top of my watchlist for so long and it is finally here!
That was my favorite mbw mod, the fortress sieges were so epic. It really felt like shogun 2 total war fps, although the graphics were lacking. I hope this is a worthy successor.
90% of my time spent playing Warband was the Gekokujou mod, so this is definitely something I've been eagerly watching the progress of. I don't want to get too invested since some mods never end up releasing, but every time they show us more stuff and the progress they've made my hype meter goes up! Bonus that nobody can copyright Sengoku Japan so there's low risk of them getting a legit C&D (unlike some other mods that always have that threat looming overhead).
This very well could be the best M&B mod ever made. Looks amazing.
Finally a worthy successor of Gekokujo. Keep up the amazing work.

You guys are making a mod of the size a Mount & Blade DLC. Lots of features remind me of the good old Viking Conquest Days. This is incredible and I hope you guys get some sort of decent compensation for this.

I legit haven't been this excited for anything video-game related in a VERY long time. I'm generally apathetic to gaming in general, and sometimes I wonder if I'm just growing out of gaming after thirty+ years of doing it, only to see this trailer and have a big grin on my face through the whole thing. I've been following this project from nearly its first announcement, but somehow missed this particular video, and like every video prior it's left me excited. I honestly only bought Bannerlord in the hopes that a Gekokujo successor would be made, and I'm so stoked about it. Speaking of, gonna go play Gekokujo now XD
The biggest surprise for me is how you managed to create such GREAT new siege maps (fortresses, cities)! I really want to play this Japanese mod for that reason ! :)))

The music from 1:50 - 2:35 is so gripping. I love what the composer did there, satisfied the build-up with a beautiful yet tense melody. I just wished it continued. Don't get me wrong the whole video has excellent music, but that part was taking me somewhere special, haha.
