Why is this man not more famous he's a lot better singer than most singer I hear on tv great voice could listen to him all the time I never new about him until my daughters got me a tablet ant I started looking up utube
The national media in Ireland has always been highly centralised, based out of Belfield in Dublin, and because of that there's always been huge blindspots, particularly in areas of the country which were primarily Irish speaking but also regionally to a lesser extent even among the English language majority culture. Even Clannad had to become famous in Europe before being accepted and embraced by Ireland. Radio na Gaeltachta was one of the greatest things that ever happened in Ireland, started as a pirate radio station ('Saor Radio Chonamara', 'Free Radio Conamara') in 1970, hugely important to the native Irish speakers of the Gaeltacht regions obviously, but my life has also been culturally enriched by the station. It offered a window into another world, within Ireland, with amazing musicians and charismatic talk show hosts who were and are practically unknown in the rest of Ireland ('English speaking Ireland'). Thanks to them, artists like John Beag Ó Flatharta were able to reach beyond the borders of Conamara (and likewise in Kerry the Begley brothers and many others did the same), and now thanks to RUclips and the internet, anyone can find them!
John Beag .... You are a very special and amazing singer !!!! Why are you not on the Late Late Show ..... ???? You should be a big Star !!!!! I love your voice !!!!! and that song 🎵 woo .... Great lyrics .... !!!!!! James O Connor.
Greetings from Phladelphia … I miss Carraroe too … go raibh maith agat. I was happy to read a while ago that Philadelphia Quakers sent a lot of relief to Ireland during the great famine (by a lot I mean, relative to their numbers … the need for relief was so huge it was only a drop in the bucket in the big picture, I suppose). They say the Irish Quakers also did a lot of good during the famine, and nobody ever said they were helping others because they wanted to convert Catholics to their faith. This city was once a great place, full of good people, and it has welcomed many waves of immigrants. But it seems like these days everything is just going to hell everywhere on the planet and there’s hardly any good will left. This song reminds me of quieter times.
Would someone tell our young players to listen to men like this with a good voice/ line and rhythm ...nice and simple but authentic and full of the best of trad atmosphere !
All Irish and Scottish men and women who are singing on RUclips posts are excellent singers with fine voices! Every one of 'em. Is this the norm in those countries? Whether it is or is not, I sure hope they keep showing up here for us all to hear. Thank you LimerickLad25.
This singer has the most amazing singing voice. I could listen to this song all day and never get tired listening to it. My thanks to LimerickLad25 for sharing this beautiful song with all the world. 5 *****++++++++

There is a shop in Galway that has them, if I find out any more info I will let you know.

Hello: I am hoping you can help me. I am looking for the Song of the Nazarene, and they play it alot on Midwest. I think John sings it--can anyone tell me if he does, or where I can get a copy of the song? I'd love if I could find it somewhere online to listen to. Thanks for your help!!! Slan, Andrea
