- In this video I will be replacing the Fuel Evap Purge Valve Solenoid on a 2008 Cadillac Escalade. This will also work on all GM trucks from 07-14 Code you will get will be P0455 and P0496.
If you have problems starting your car right after you fill up with gas, this valve will be the problem.

Very intuitive . and lots people said I have to replace the carbon canistor to eliminate the code, your case told me the other possibility.

I have a 2007 cadillac escalade and the code I'm getting is p0496 i just ordered the evap that goes under hood ill be replacing this next if that doesn't take the code off also my vehicle will just shut off while im driving and it will say reduce engine power i took the throttle body off and cleaned the crap out of it and it was very dirty so far it has not turned off since i cleaned it i was going to replace the throttle body sensor next but it seems to be working good so far just had that code pop back up again P0496 thanks for the help
I had a strong gas smell in the vehicle, but no codes. When cold, the truck also cranked longer than normal before firing up and running normally. Replacing this fixed the starting problem and also took care of most of the smell. The next day, it told me to tighten the gas cap, which I had done the previous day, so I replaced that as well.

Just want to mention, you called it a vent valve. That is totally separate from the purge valve. What you changed is the purge valve which is the (front door) the actual vent valve is the back door. It’s good to note that.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this...
I changed my purge valve just new and did a quick drive around the block .. the check engine light turned off but now it looks like i have some white smoke coming out the exhaust
Did you ever figure out what the white smoke was coming from? My check engine light just started popping on for this code and I’m going to replace the purge valve this weekend just tryna see what other issues I may run into

Yea think so mine only goes to 3/4 tank and has starting issues after filling up

And also the codes what you might get is a lean or rich code. As the purge valve is vented into the manifold. So the purge valve (theoretically) vents the fumes from the evap into the engine to burn.
If your purge valve is bad it’s constantly sucking vacuum. So it will clean out all the fuel. It may throw a p0172 code for rich.. until it’s cleaned out all the fuel trapped in the evap. Then it will go p0174 and p0171 for lean. Because after it’s filtered all the fuel.. it will just suck air.
So a bad PURGE valve can cause a lean OR rich code. And BEST to use a factory GM part.

Will this video help me with a 2005? Also, will the check engine clear upon repair, or will I have to manually clear it? This was the only error read when I diagnosed it
Q the 2005 is set up a little differently, but if you do a quick search on it, there are a few videos showing how to do it. It’s basically in the same location, just mounted vertically and held in with a bolt. Thank for watching.

I have same truck and a p0304 code and I changed plugs and wires and coil packs and still can’t figure it out any suggestions ? Engine light flashes and stabilitrak and all that

I would check all the hoses to see if there are any cracks in it. Any little leak would cause the code to come on.
I have a problem with my Escalade at the first time every Day it will start perfectly but after that it has truble starting again... could this be the solution???

This worked for my 2008 Cadillac Escalade. But, I'd like to add DO NOT buy a cheap EVAP PURGE VALVE from Amazon you'll have more problems than its worth. Each one I bought from Amazon works but it starts ticking pretty loud. It did stop until I bought an OEM part

Saint Alvarado I got it off of Amazon. If you look up Evap vent solenoid for the year of your car on Amazon it should pop up.
