If you put the same energy and excitement into commentating Brood War as you do SC2, I'm sure it'll be great.
probably not. Sc1 is a tad too slow to be so hyper and if Lowko had a real interest in it, he would have done it long ago, even if just a few matches here and there. But the Job is forcing him i guess?

having watched Harstems cast on this game I couldn't stop laughing during game two, hearing Lowko say he liked the same builds that Harstem hated.

I dunno about queens being overpowered, but they are definitely a linchpin unit. You would never make an all queen army (unless you are uthermal on a challenge) but if you don't have them or use them well, you are dead (again, unless you are uthermal on a challenge. COMING SOON: THE ALL QUEENS AND NO QUEENS CHALLENGES!)
They're definitely overpowered but not nearly as much as they use to be. IMO the only thing they need is a light nerf to either health total or DPS. Health total would probably be more fair so Queen can retain their defensive threat while not being as effective on the offense.
The primary problem with Queens are that they cost ONLY minerals, no gas, use zero larva, and have more health and DPS than a stalker (for reference), and can heal each other. They're one of if not the most cost efficient unit in the game.
As long as you explain to us what happens more or less as well as you do right now with SC2, no matter the game don't worry you'll have viewers. I haven't played SC2 for 7? 8? years ? I don't even know anymore :D But still watch your casts almost everyday
Honestly, after seeing matches like these, all I want is more Dark's games. But I wouldn't mind some Brood War casts for a change.
I'd love to see some Broodwar! It's where we came from! Between good players I'm sure it would be entertaining for you to cast a match or a Best of Three. Also, have you considered hosting a tournament, or at least a show match series, of your own between pros? I'd contribute money to the prize pool. You could even do something fun with Brood war units added into a SC2 custom map (medics, vultures, defilers, guardians, corsairs, reavers)
That last game was brutal. To win by base race is super rare. Creator only needed a few more seconds and he would have won that. Great call on Dark's part to go for the base.
Is the queen actually overpowered, or just brutally mandatory?

I'd love to see you cover some Brood War, make sure to do all the necessary research before though as I wouldn't be as keen on watching you slowly discover how the meta works or stuggling with upgrade names/functions.

Hey Lowko, funny idea to get some Sc1 casts. If you plan to do so, it would be very helpful for us people only knowing sc2 to get a little start ahead, maybe with a explanation video covering general differences (1 vs. 2) etc. THX
Lokow - my bias is that I watch your videos and absolutely none other. It's your personality and effort that I enjoy. I've played all the OG SC up to SC2 as an absolute scrub and custom map player. Feel free to cast more SC brood wars IMO, just the fun tidbits of play style, methods, and builds that you comment on are the content I enjoy. I've even from time to time tried to fight the AI on sc2 with little to no progression after watching your videos to assure myself that I'm not that guy.
I'd be interested in seeing some Brood War, especially if you do your normal descriptions of units/abilities. I'm sure it will be entertaining as always!
I much prefer brood war. I'd absolutely love you to cast SCBW games. I'm 33. I played tons more SCBW. I think it's way better balanced than current LoV.

Lowko actually makes watching SC2 games way more interesting then it is. Also helps me fall asleep. I cant count number of times I dozed off from listening and watching these pro games casted/commentated by Lowko.
The most unrealistic thing about StarCraft is how quickly a nydus worm is built. How can it dig through the ground that quickly. or is there creep already growing at 10x times underneath as compared to on top.
I'd be interested hearing SC1 commentaries. Just like SC2, I'd be lost watching one of them without someone telling me why XYZ is good/bad.
Lowko please do some SC1, a lot of us millennials grew up on it and that's why we got so big into SC2. Happy you are keeping the torch lit. Star Craft will always have a "cult" following.

What about using queens in nydus worms and drop creep tumors to spread creep faster? I've never played SC besides story so I was just thinking.

I probably wouldn't be quite as excited with Brood War vids as I am with SC2, but that's mostly because I'm unfamiliar with it. Besides, it's your energy and humor that drives my interest, not just that this is SC2
I would love to revisit brood war. I grew up with brood War, so it would be fun to hear your reaction and read comments from other viewers on your review.
I think Brood War casts would be interesting to work in, maybe every few casts. Especially if they are players we have watched play SC2. Might be a good hold-over till Stormgate comes out and you can experiment with that.
I still think SC2 is probably a best bet for the majority of content. Even if the games are slightly harder to find and lower quality, it is what most of us know and come here for. That is, of course, until something exiting comes out that you can transition to smoothly.
Either way, I really enjoy your content and will stick around to see where this all takes you. Keep up the great work, and best of luck!

Brood Wars... You know. Maybe 1 from a really really good match. A retro spin for the old days sure. But the problem is I know I can't look at those graphics for very long without my eyes bleeding.
I played SC1 since '98 for years, and comparing SC2 it's not THAT entertaining. More balanced - 100% correct. Full of old school vibe - for sure. More interesting? Meh.
You definitely can try mate. But as a mid-30s man, I can say that I prefer SC2 just because I can't play THAT well, and I enjoy watching (and your casting it. U r the best SC2 caster, mate! Keep it up!).
When SC1 was the only playable RTS - I played is GOD. And as for me, I don't wanna see how some Korean kid will play better than I did back then😅

Thanks for the great work through the years (I do not understand english as well as I would like it, I'm from Spain. and I really appreciate your content, as entertaiment and educational :-). I follow your channel as well Pig channels). Due to seems to be the current flow, if I were you, instead of putting my effort in an older game like Broodwar, I rather would try to find another "similar but more actual game" no idea which could be, sorry, ...perhaps sth like Age of Empires?...or even, if along this year there is a migration of the "big Players" such as Reynor, Serral...to another big game, our followers probably will enjoy those contents as well. Random ideas trying to help. Anyway, thanks again ;-)
Yes do some SC:BW casting... I remember waiting in line at a Funkoland for hours until the doors opened to get my copy of SC:BW, I was like 11... xD good times good times... also what's not to love about BW, it has Guardians AND Scourge!!!
Hey Lowko, I love your content. One of the things I enjoy in SC2 are the graphics and all the small animations of the units. Unfortunately, Brood War does not look good. Don't get me wrong I really like "pixel graphics" and I am old enough that I have played SC1 in 1998. Also, as a chess player I understand strategy and tactics does not need any visual beauty to be exciting and engaging, but if something has the whole package is preferable. That is my opinion and I will be glad if you can change it with some great matches of that great, old, but not rusty game...
@lowko hey man, i love sc1 but i only get 6 sc2 videos from you a week 🤣 i need my fix, unless sc2 videos dont get cut for sc1! If we still get our sc2 content ill be happy! Honestly, do what you gotta do, but your sc2 content has become apart of my life and i very much enjoy it.

I've noticed all of the Dutch casters can't pronounce a T, it is always replaced with a D. Anodher, Brodher, Uder (other), Lader (later), dedonation, Creador, Door drops. Is it just that the Dutch language doesn't have T's? Loko always saying udder constantly and I'm looking for the cows. Now that I've said it you can't un-hear it
Game 5 is exactly why I don't actually play SC2. The level of lethality is just too high, a large group of Zerglings slips by and destroys all of your workers, tech tree and bases while your army is trying to walk back to defend. And it's not like it was a full base race, it's just like 30 supply worth of Zerglings. No wonder Protoss never win any tournaments.
Quick question: is it Brood War or SC: Remastered videos that you're proposing? Because I'd be down with the latter, but not the former. I think D2R spoiled me. I now cannot stand the old SC and D2 graphics.
I think I wouldn't watch Brood War long time. Maybe a few games with the top-players I already know from SC2, but I'd rather like to continue watching SC2 or maybe switch to Stormgate later on. Maybe some players will switch to BW, but I think there'll be enough to cast in SC2 until Stormgate is out.
Lowko. in the last game, the whole first 9 minutes you've been making the viewer sure that Dark was behing, but thats not really so.
Almost all the time Dark was ahead in the workers count and had enough army supply to stop any protoss harass. sure, he had lost some workers and not even a few, but he had played so greedily that he'd still ended with more stuff than the protoss despite he'd lost way more.
the 9-10 minute of the game push has showed that Dark was not behind by any mean. and after he'd lost a big chunk of his army, he'd had so much income that he was able to rebuild the entire lost army within seconds. while protoss was left behind with 20 less workers than the zerg.
basically, that was a pretty even start of the game with Dark smashing Creator with his first attack wave damn hard. means that Creator simply wasn't ready. even though he'd seen the morphing banes quite a bit before the attack had hit, he did nothing about this threat, leaving the completely defensless (1 colossus is nothing vs 30 banes) base full of workers. a huge mistake that did cost him a lot. that single attack of Dark has achieved way more than the whole protoss's early game harass.
then, the second wave of the zerg and his following counterattack with zerglings had left the protoss with very few workers. imagine Creator recalling at 12:30 and killing all the zerg army that was in his bases. 20-25 workers vs 60-80. zerg wouldve just annihilated protoss with 2-3 swarmy waves of bane-roach-lings. there is no way protoss could've won in that situation.

I would watch some Brood War (especially if the pros will shift their focus from SCII). But it's unfortunate for the game that the highest level of professional play might regress to an older version of the game, after an entire DECADE of StarCraft II. It's not the direction that StarCraft -- or eSports as an entertainment industry market segment -- should be headed in!

Do, please, experiment with casting Brood War games! I have been watching your remastered campaign playthrough for the last few days, and I have to say I'm finding it really fun. I have no idea if i would be successful for the channel, nor if I would end up personally liking it, but I feel like there's no harm in releasing a few Brood War games to see if your chemistry goes with the game or not.
i agree, queen is OP; it helps make drones AND costs no gas but defends against pretty much anything

I am skeptical whether I'd enjoy BW commentary, because I find it hard to tell what's going on and why certain things are impressive that look kinda banal. So, I guess I'm saying I will give it a shot but I'm thinking it would be nice to have a lot of hand-holding initially as far as explaining what's going on in the game.
I mean, I don't care for Brood War, but maybe you could get me into it as you have with other non-sc2 games with your vids/streams (They Are Billions, Frostpunk etc etc.)
I've watched SC2 ever since Husky started. I don't think I'd watch broodwar. The only reason is that it looks so ugly. It has not aged well. But maybe that's just my first impression.
I wouldn't mind watching some SC1, if you are the commentator. I'm not sure though how much that'd boost your channel, but maybe if you try out some newer RTS-games and throw in some SC1 casts to test the waters? I'm not sure what other casters have done in the past when their game starts to fade out, but maybe there's some inspiration there :) Wish you all the best Lowko!
