Whenever I watch videos like this one I admire the engineering but always my excitement deflates upon learning the purchase price.
Exactly. As I watched the video, I added the cost of items as I'm fairly familar with the cost of most of those components AND included the raised cost of carbon fiber which is incorporated into some of the fairings and came up with around $5-8K.
Learning it starts at $10,500 was a major turn off. If the Fed could provide a IRC 30D of around 20% of the cost, THEN I might look into it more seriously.
The price is not unexpected.
You can get good recumbent bike for less, but with less weather protection and less comfort. Adding electric will raise it's price considerably.
The problem might soon be you can get a second hand electric car for this price ....
For that price u can already purchased a entry level e-car 😂
And because most of the time I can't even buy them if I wanted to because they don't sell them in the U.S.
@@packohub1145 part of the appeal here is that it *isn't* a car, you get to use bike infrastructure, and in some cases just ignore traffic rules (such as lane-splitting, or more properly lane filtering when at these speed, splitting is highway and usually illegal). My Ebike cost used-car prices, but the sidewalk here is widened for bike use, and serves as my personal lane. Considering the bike can do 20MPH handily on throttle, faster when I'm pedaling, I'm not too far behind car travel times.
I'd really like to see a beefed-up, fully enclosed motorcycle version. The light weight, low profile, and the high aerodynamic efficiency of an enclosed body is really well suited to an electric vehicle.
That will be cool but super expensive
Absolutely bring it on ....or are they trying to keep the cost down because it would be too expensive for most and may not be economically viable and cost effective to build ....right now ....
The big problem in N.America is lane splitting/filtering. Riding a motorcycle is very frustrating because you are basically treated as a car. Bicycles are so much faster in urban areas.
Well... there was the MonoRacer... ruclips.net/video/DbRk6tv1EE8/видео.html&ab_channel=GlobalIPTrust
@@devogrant2817 It would drive up the price a bit, but it's kind of like the Aptera: more efficiency means you can go faster & farther with smaller batteries and motors, so it should still be cheaper than higher-spec bikes for (hopefully) similar performance.
I utterly congratulate you on this, I drew up a recargable E bike over a decade ago and was told by a bike and electronic expert it cannot work thank you for proving my theory all we need now is E cars to catch up. by using flywheels as generators.
We have even better now, battery electric vehicles

I'm so happy for Fabrizio. I have been following his work in Victoria on the Electrom 1 for several years now, and I think he has designed and engineered a truly unique pedelec - like based personal vehicle. The uniqueness is a pedel chain which not only goes to directly power the rear wheel via human force, but also goes to a generator, and the electrom automatically switches over to electric power assistance after you reach about 10 KM an hr I think he told me. You also have the option to go 100 % electric and upto 4 batteries for extreme range (I'm thinking up or down Vancouver Island type range, or close to it). The man is an engineer, who thinks outside the box.
Seems like you’ve put so much thought into this over the years. I think something like this will be a commodity in the future and I hope you can capture a bunch of that value. Truly revolutionary
Really cool! I've been designing a recumbent that's more Akira motorcycle than recumbent bike. Very cool!
I think I am in love. That bike is outstanding!
Same goes for bicycles. I bought my recumbent bicycle more than 30 years ago from Fateba Switzerland. It is still im great shape.
Love this, will be interesting to see pricing as production ramps up.
This is just brilliant. I guess this is best if you have a long commute on bike roads. Not sure about the 200 Km range. If you go touring it makes sense, for daily use it is not necessary.
I really appreciate all the work that has gone into creating this bike and video.
This looks great, very innovative power system.
I really appreciate you diving into the details of how specifics work. Like how the motors react or turn off at different speeds!
Really interested in feed forward electric bikes, or just higher performance ebikes in general!
**** THE Whole thing is just BEAUTIFUL ! An Awesome Machine.
Great Summary, Thanks Electric Vehicle Space!!!
My pleasure!
I was looking at never haveing to ride on a pedal bike ever again ,but with luck it worked out I can ,I almost couldn't ride a motor cycle either ,but time an going to college was on my side ,i was like they took things but please don't take what I love to do ,thank the Lord ,Pedal was a part of college the side of you that's not in the building that's always learning for myself
Super impressed.
As an add idea, would be really good to see a modular canopy, one for the summer like that 'open' pop-up canopy/fairing and a more longer 'close' one that covers the head ( when it rains/light snow ) which clips at the back end and doubles as a more secure handle for rear passenger.
At least a flip up windshield and a roof. It would need a windshield wiper in the rain. Strobe lights for safety.
If more companies get involved in competitive designs and prices, we can definitely expect more affordable and nice looking options in the future. Totally looking forward to a greener commuting future. Hope these ideas take
I'm glad you liked it!
Overall that design looks really practical and rational. Excellent. impractical suggestion: add a flywheel low in the chassis or use it to store some energy replace some battery wattage and make the whole vehicle self-balancing like the lit-motors c1 that was kicking around a few years ago.
I like this, I imagined something like this except the body was more enclosed like a soap box car and you have an optional detachable awning and storage in the back with a hidden compartment to hold the battery and stuff.
Brilliant well thought out machine
I ride a HaiBike with a large steel rack for my rc car, in my back pack is all my drone gear stuff. I like how that steers bc my hands have issues beyond just arthritis. I want one!
Came here after Ryan F9 reviewed it. Kudos, this is a cool design.
To be precise, the recumbent position puts your big thigh muscles closer in height to your heart, a trick invented in aerobatic fixed wing planes a few decades ago. The Achilles's heel in your design is where the instrument panel fits. That's in a very vulnerable place of your anatomy in a frontal injury. That's an important consideration as a vehicle designed to negotiate traffic. Maybe if the top is made to quickly purposely pop off in an accident...
That is beautiful, you where thinking of everything, nice bike.👍
Well, thanks for liking my opinion, but,it was you, who made the magic happen, I'm just been honest
I hope this will get a popularity it deserves. Looks like the most practical in many ways E-bike our there. But the price and distribution is the real problem.
Love this e recumbent 🌍😊I can see a bright future for fun safe light Hybrid e machines I was first person to take a solar powered cycle around Wales.
Wonderful! Solar would be a cool addition that can be folded and placed in the back.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace back 1997 we had solar panels on the bike but had a mini bus with a solar roof and battery storage to plug in at night or brakes, the idea was to set up solar roof bike stands for e bikes to charge at in 1997 we where a little early. I think we will see a big shift to light e transport. Government still held in chequ by big oil.
my final year unversit project is based on your design and its great seeing this a few days befor my hand in as alot of thought has been put into making this better for the road compared to previous versions. maybe ill have to come down to the us for a partnership
that would be a great touring bike
Hey with all due respect, I recommend yellow colored hand guards. The black tends to blend in, especially in urban environments more than one tends to think. Anyhow, if it were mine, I think yellow hand guards would make me feel more safe. Such a beautiful machine!
Nice design. The semi-automatic kickstand seems like a nice innovation that would help in commuting. One knock I have though is the horn--makes you sound like the scooter that you wanted to avoid being mistaken for. A nice "ding ding" bicycle bell would be nicer, though I suppose having both can be handy in various traffic scenarios.
naa. one of those old "AAAHOOOOGGAAAAA" type horns is the ticket here.
I beleive on the website, it says it has both!
Having both is good. Might be riding on the side of a secondary road with higher speeds and need to get someone’s attention.
nice review and very informative
Outstanding bike
I am glad you liked it.
I love it and the concept. I realize it needs to be aerodynamic but I'd like to see a naked version similar to a Honda Ruckus (Zoomer)
I think I'm in love already 😍 😩
Many great ideas became real in that thing!
Good point
I'm keeping my eye on this product as a near future purchase! I like it, it looks like a fun ride, electric with pedal charging, and you can get some long mileage. As far as the child seat in the back, I would like to see very robust handles for a child to hold on, especially if there was an unexpected bump or pothole on the road.
I agree about the child/passenger seat. Great idea, I just worry about the safety aspect. Overall, what an impressive concept!
That’s awesome. I think it would be good for rainy places to have a canopy option. If you could put in a seat chiller and a canopy option it would be great for Houstonians.
great suggestions
I find the look is an acquired taste. But as You explained, each detail has its own reason why it is designed as it is. And the result great and very pracitical. I like this e-bike only from watching. If I imagine that each household would own one what an impact this would have on the public health. I hope You can sell a very, very lot of them.
What a beautiful video
It's looking nice
Very interesting concept!
Brilliant Design concept 👌
Glad you like it!
Very innovative
Amazing
This is really cool
I am glad you liked it. Ty!
Saw one of these in Victoria on Wednesday. Taking your life in your hands riding it alongside the highway here...
It's only moving 18mph. Whare are you and how do you get to highway?
Innovative electric bike
yes indeed.
Saw Ryan F9 riding one of these in his video recently, wish they were available in NZ.
Good Concept
Very informative
Very very cool, i like it, i bet it's fun to ride 👍.
Beautiful
I am glad you liked it!
Electric cars, bikes, motorcycles are the future.we need to hop on the wave sooner rather than later
yes indeed.
Sure, when they cut the cost in half and give us ways to easily repair it.
@@ghoulbuster1 these are more simple than an internal coaster brake. You need no special skills to work on any non-proprietary e-bike. Much to my detriment, opersting a bike shop, they make good, reliable e-bikes under a grand. How far are most people going to take any vehicle on a daily basis. The rare few needing more than 20 miles between charges can use alternatives or for the times anyone needs more, alternatives can then be used as well.
Wonderful
Thank you! Cheers!
This is super nice. My pnly worry is that id have to park it like a motorcycle, and motorcycle parking is pretty terrible in my city. Other than that it ticks every box. I hate putting on waterproof trousers and boots. If i have to do so I'll often take the car instead. The jacket only thing makes so much sense to me.
This in combination the tech in the Onyx RCR would be insane.
Love it
I can see doing some camping/touring on it. 👏👏👏👏
Very cool!
Ty
Great design but for sure I would adding some powerful lights to the back of this bike. That row of LEDs doesn't cut it.
How fast is it?
Rear drive is good and I like the front drive as well.
Good design and distance from what I see.
I really like this.
I want to see the price on this vehicle .
That thing looks awesome, my first thought is flatten the bubble on the front maybe leave a tiny window up front and slap a 400w solar panel on it, never need to plug it in.
Nice bike
Absolutely 💯
I believe the Electron is currently as good as it gets for a practical electric assisted bicycle, it will be interesting to follow the further development of this vehicle.
Great video and really neat bike. I would prefer a stripped down version without the trunk or fairing
I think those help with aerodynamics enough to justify them.
This vehicle is beautiful and perfect. I wish we could see them in the UK.
Email the company
@@ElectricVehicleSpace ebikes in the UK are restricted to an assisted speed of upto 15.5mph (25kmph).Which would be a ridiculously low speed for this thing. And I don't think you could go faster as the pedals are generating electricity rather than speeding the bike forwards directly. To go any faster legally the bike would have to be registered as a motorbike and have a licence plate.
nice pedal bike
Very nice👌🏻
Frabrizio Cross? I remember you from high school. A very tight design. I'm really impressed.
This Electrom bike is better looking than most. Most e-recumbents work impressively well but still look like the concoction of parts that they are. E-recumbents have been around for a while yet so far no inspired BENNOs have focused their talent to create user friendly, highly functional yet truly appealing aero enclosed e-recumbents much less coin a term for them that sticks. This category has everything going for it, time is on its side, low purchase cost compared to cars or motorcycles (soon), relatively small and lightweight although long, ultra low energy cost and fun to ride in weather that rules out bicycles. They make sense in ways that matter. It's early days, what a blast.
Velos have been around awhile, and several do give electric options, though it is arguable if they even need it, if you are not familiar with them, id recommend looking into them, only downside is they certainly aint cheap
Nice 👍
Super

An e-bike done right
Amazing💖💖
I am glad you liked it.
It would be nice to see some kind of seatbelt/strap so in case of a front-facing accident, you don't slam your neck/face into the horizontal windshield.
I’m interested to see how the Arcimoto Mean Lean Machine evolves. I’m hoping it will have a recumbent model. It also has a generator and batteries and skips the chains and gears. Hub motors, reverse trike with tilting wheels.
Yup... We will have to wait and see.
❤❤❤ wishing to sales in public near my home soon, Thank.
Nice
What does it cost?
I like the design.
Weather coverage is nice.
I like the storage on this vehicle.
That's one of the sale features that tempts me to look closer at this
Very very nice
Thanks a lot
I wish fortnine had described the power system of this. The generator/chain hybrid seems very interesting, but I wonder if the added weight is worth it.
I'm sure it's not technologically.
But it sounds to me like that's a requirement for being legally treated as an electric bicycle which makes it ABSOLUTELY worth it.
I think he was talking about the feet forward design, not reviewing the electron. It is really interesting though.
Beautiful design. I really hope this takes off and becomes hugely popular. THe price must come down for mass adoption.
I hope so too!
In the car market, it’s looking at these gorgeous concept cars at auto shows, and then realizing that the next model year is going to based on the same dull boxy/me too designs with only minor styling changes.
Nice one
Thanks for watching
Nice 👌
I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts.
Nice.....
I've seen a few of these and they all have vestigial windscreens which you look over. Is it so you can see more of the road when you look down?
Looks like a well made product. The only thing I wanted to see was a better canopy - full over the driver for downpours, which is something I am surprise he did not developed considering he is in BC, our rain province😁.
The fact he did not might indicate there is no need as the current canopy is enough protection... and you do not want to close yourself in too much and have to fight the condensation.
Nice one lods
nice
Be awesome to see these race in Tour De France. Can put all your favorite PED's in your boot.
Recumbents were band from racing in 1934 by the UCI, a.k.a. the board that regulates the Tour de France. They were too fast.
Good
ummmmm I love this one
I am glad you liked it.
Wow! All that and a bag of chips.
This is awesome! Hopefully, politicians will not ruin this one with regulations.
@edwong3 Yes. It is legally a bicycle for now. But laws can change pretty easily. New ideas that are perfectly legal can be made illegal if someone in authority wants to. A law that restricts the definition of what an electric bicycle is could be passed without any papers or media sharing the news for how "boring" and "inconsequential" it is. No one would notice. Once the law is approved, it is too late.
Happens very often.
Any plans on making a pure bicycle recumbent? How light can you make the external form factor using other methods like lightweight tubing?
Unfortunately in most of Europe and especially in the UK this would NOT quality as an E_Bike (we have Pedelec and 15mph restrictions).
Now it's a great Idea and I did use to ride a Peer-Gint recumbent which has the same riding position. So I would like this, but I can't use it in England.
yeayy nice
I do admire those who drives but have never dreamed of driving, I pray to have a heart to ride motor cycle
Beautiful Innovation. What's the top speed
