    Hooah! I shared her story with my granddaughters who lost their mom in a traffic accident. It doesn't matter where we start - it matters where we end up. She's reached a level I used to dream of when I served. God bless her!

      Navy veteran here. I thought there were no khaki uniforms anymore in the Army and that dress uniforms were blue pants and dark blue jacket?

To claim it can only happen in the USA is a joke, like no other western army has black or migrants serving. This is EXACTLY why the world thinks some Americans can be arrogant and ignorant.       She said blood sister, meaning biological sister. No one said they shed nor should You Deny the general if that was said. She might have shed blood and probably have shed blood for her country considering her Rank and length of service to achieve that. In addition the US military was fighting many theatres during her service time not to forget she was an aviation officer before this post.

    As an African immigrant myself and O3 officer in the US Navy , I must reiterate this again: America is the land of opportunity especially for those that are born here. Even for the immigrants it is. So, let’s encourage our kids to change the narrative for us. Thank you for inspiring us General. The whole of Africa is proud of you.

      @@victortakunda5443What "better jobs" she's not a soldier she's a general, a high ranking officer. In the most powerful military in the world and most advanced in the history of humanity. Thats a huge accoplishment.
      US Defense forces are also a world leader in research and technology, they helped pioneer the internet, digital cameras, GPS, microwave oven, virtual reality (VR) and many other revolutionary technologies.

    This really inspired me. Thanks for sharing. I remember my days in ROTC Falcon Batallion, Raleigh, NC. I had an opportunity to join the mainstream, but I wanted to return home and build my own country. Sometimes, I wonder, looking back, if I should have traveled back home. But hey, I am still serving humanity.

    Can I just say she and her sister are both models of what could be if dreams are pursued with heart and dedication. One sister became a general, the other has her docorate. I'm not from Africa, but story is still inspiring to me and should be an inspiration to others.

    Hooaaah! I am a Combat Medic(91 Bravo) vet, my basics was in Ft. Leonardwood(A3-3) I preached in the Brigade Chapel there also. But I was so inspired to see this report, Special Forces leads the way!

    Holy cow….!!!!!! Congratulations on such an amazing career Ma’am. I know you won’t remember me, but you were my Company Commander at Ft Jackson in 2002. I was an Infantryman who had just PCS’d to Jackson from Fort Bragg and I was assigned to your company and then over to Range Control, before being selected to Drill Sergeant School. You look 100% the exact same today as you did in 2002!
