    The wiring was done up better than the factory job, nice tone improvement!

    It should be noted as I have attempted this as well, if you wouldn’t of put the pickup cover on, you would have noticed the pick up poles don’t line up, as it’s for a Pbass. Just pointing it out.
    I mean it has a Strat 6 pole in the beginning n those don’t line up exactly either lol but thought it was worth mentioning

    very nice undercover tip that you show: the Tele Bass pu fits inside the Bronco/Musicmaster pu covers! : D I've been looking for this kind of info for ages, thank you!

      I would leave the cover off to make it known there was cost and work of upgrading the pickup. However, the cover does give protection, and keeping the original appearance has merit also.

    My first guitar was a 2002 Bronco. I like to play it, my soul is drawn to it. I had a Fender DB, but for some reason I play the Bronco more often. I decided to change it, breathe new life into it. And now I am inspired by your video.

    Sweet mod, my first and only bass right now is a jackenbacker and is pretty cool, but it needs a mad set up i think it plays not too well, honestly my mistake for choosing it at half off at GC bc i soon realized why it was half off. Anywho after i do that setup once i have money, ive had this thought about slapping a musicman humbucker pickup where the J pickup is at. seems like it would be cool.

    Quite a bit of extra shielding. I would have also considered the original 51 Precision wiring with the 2 capacitors. Or with a 50k ohm resistor between the middle and ground lug of the tone and cap.

    No thats NOT why i watch your vids ..
    I'm not to techy so i couldn't do upgrades to my old squire ..
    Would be nice but it sounds good & wont trade it or let my sons have it ..
    Maybe after I've left this world lol but not the now 😅
    Enjoyed the vid & btw it looks far FAR better after you tweaked on it 👍

    Cool video, just wondering if the pole spacing on the new pickup matches with the distance between the strings?

    • @rustyfenders101
      @rustyfenders101  3 месяца назад

      It is very close. The 4th string pole is a little off but it’s way better than the Strat pickup that was there! Thanks for watching!

    Can you explain how you did the shielding?

    • @rustyfenders101
      @rustyfenders101  6 месяцев назад

      I used shielding tape. You can find copper tape on amazon. Just make sure the adhesive is conductive. After taping the interior and the pickguard. Make sure to tape a screw hole to the bottom of the cavity so that the pickguard and cavity have contact. Good luck!

      Sorry about that. I noticed after uploading the video and to my surprise RUclips doesn’t have any tool to edit a video without deleting it. In a nutshell, the bass actually had a Stratocaster pickup. This caused the string to have uneven volume. Found a 51 style pickup online and now is way more balanced on volume. Really like the new pickup. 🤙

    It’s weird, but in my opinion the stock pickup sounds the best for bronco designs. I’ve tried the tele bass, the guitar rail pickup, the lollar(I believe it was lollar?) bronco pickup and they all were pulling something out from the sound, not adding up 🤷🏻

    • @rustyfenders101
      @rustyfenders101  Месяц назад +1

      Hey sound is subjective. I’m my case the Strat pickup that was in there, didn’t sit below the G string properly. So there was a big difference in volume. I tried adjusting it but there was a noticeable difference. I have never seen another bass manufacturer reusing a guitar pickup before. That and the tone and volume range was pretty much non existent. It went from 100% to %20 immediately. I also like to play reggae so I wanted a fuller tone. For 20 bucks more I can’t complain. Thank for watching!!
