Why did Palpatine CHOOSE to SAVE Darth Vader? 🤔

- What was the reason why Palpatine chose to save Darth Vader?
Cuz he could have left him and moved on to another apprentice like he did to Darth Maul and Count Dooku but Palpatine had his reasons for keeping the The Chosen One.
And the Legends book Dark Lord the Rise of Darth Vader helps answer this question.
In the book, it says that as Sidious walked over to where Vader was lying but he struggled to figure out what to do with a now half burnt apprentice.
He even thought about letting Vader die to punish him for not being able to beat Obi-Wan.
But in the end, he realized that it would be a waste to leave him after spending 13 years grooming Anakin Skywalker to be his Apprentice.
And not just a waste of time but a waste of power as well.
Cuz Palpatine knew that he would never find another person even half as powerful as Vader to replace him.
But there was something else Palpatine thought of that was now in his control
And that was the fact that Padme was dead and this left Vader with no attachments which Palpatine used to manipulate him. - Развлечения
"13 years grooming Anakin"😮
He could have used the word, "Watching over."
Why do you twist the meaning? Why do you must put something dirty into Palpatine manipulating Anakin?
@@DanielTAKD That's actually the more traditional meaning of the term "grooming". It didn't have any sinister implications until a few years ago. It used to be perfectly normal to say that you were grooming your successor and generally no one would assume anything shady was happening unless there was already reason to believe that the one doing the grooming was shady in some way.
@@gawthic1 Yes, that's correct. But as I mentioned, not Hirohito surely meant something dirty. That emoji displays it well.
@@DanielTAKD What, like that's a good thing?
“I spent too damn long getting you, whether you like it or not you lazy bastard”
😂
Other factors:
1. Palpatine realized that it would be years or even never to find someone as strong in the Force as Anakin was.
2, Palpatine realized that he needed a public face of his Empire, someone to press the proverbial flesh/interact with the public while he pursued his goals of learning as much as he could regarding Sith legends, especially the ones about immortality.
If Palpatine had to do the things I mentioned earlier, he wouldn't have been able to go out pursuing Sith legends.
He figured it was better to keep Vader alive so Vader could do the things Palpatine didn't want to
Very good points 👍
@@StarWars_Insider I believe point 1 is mentioned either in the Revenge Of The Sith novel or Dark Lord:The Rise Of Darth Vader
I thought palpatine still remained the face of the empire. His plan was to have Anakin be his public figure since to them he was already beloved and viewed as a hero.
But when he lost at Mustafar all that went out the window faster than Mace did, and Palpatine chose to mask his appearance to the public with holograms like we see him do in Rebels with Ezra.

@@dangdroideka3185 It was Vader, more than Palpatine, who interacted with the Empire's public
The built up hate and anger would make him more strong of a sith
😈
He did not think of letting him die to punish him for losing to Obi-Wan. After the Yoda fight Palpatine said ready my transport, I sense lord Vader is in trouble. He went there with intentions of helping him so how does what you say even make sense?
I like that nurse hat.
Thanks 👌
“13 years *grooming* Anakin Skywalker”
NEW STAR WARS LORE JUST DROPPED 💀
See Palps, that is the reason why you got thrown down the reactor
Fr🤣🤣
LOL😂
😂🤣😂
Palpatine’s entire goal since he met Anakin was to make him his apprentice. He knew Vader would be still be powerful, even if he was severely handicapped. Also, he was going to need another Sith Lord if he was going to dominate the galaxy the way he wanted.
He needed him even if he didn’t want him
In a deleted scene, Palpatine mentions that he created Anakin by manipulating the Force. So in a way, he is his father, which he says himself.
So many of these videos are like "what is the reason Luke decided NOT to freeze to death."
Vader was better weaker for Palpatine. He knew that the siths work this way: the apprentice will try to kill him to take his position or the master will kill the apprentice at a moment or another.
Palpatine took the advantage from Vader's defeat against Obi Wan.
The other reason is that it's better for the apprentice to be in constent suffering and pain to fully embrace hate and rage, going deeper inside the dark side.
Yeah he really did take advantage of
I mean, he also designed the suit, so that Vader wouldn’t have the courage to overthrow him. Not dying by your apprentice is pretty good incentive
He made him suffer in that suit
He sure did. And it made him a powerful Sith Lord
Another apprentice? He had pretty much killed all force users so I don’t know where he’d find another one from? He’d have to wait for one to be born I guess.
Short answer: Sunk-Cost Falacy.
Vader read the book… the gigs up palp
Wrong!
“I was pleased that when Anakin is almost brutally destroyed, Palpatine is relieved to not only find him alive but also because he is Anakin Skywalker. There is one moment that George scripted in a rather casual way where I touch Anakin’s forehead. I think that’s really the only human moment we see from Palpatine-just a moment of sympathy and compassion for another human being. Not the usual ingredients of the Sith.”

Also, you didn’t even use the right book for reference. Lol. It’s the junior novelization, (where everything is dumbed down for kids) where he thinks about leaving him.
Spent 20 years grooming Maul, Palpatine: OH no, he gone.
Spent 10 years grooming Anakin, Palpatine: I'll save him.
One was alive, one was thrown into a reactor shaft.
Everyone knows that the reactor shaft is instant death
Nah. Palatine knew he needed vader alive so he could use him to turn like to the dark side. Father killing seems the easiest route after all
Sideous had to save Vader because the prophecy of the chosen one was fulfilled...
One master (sideous and Yoda) and one apprentice (Vader and obi-wan) on both sides and order 66 ensured a replacement was impossible
That’s an interesting way to look at it
For shits and giggles....
Didn't Palpatine sensed that Anakin is in danger, but intentionally chose to let him lose to control him?
Right there, there is no reason for Palpatine to not clone Anakin while being Darth Vader...and use a inhibitor chip so he would not turn on him eventually. There should be a What If... series on this plot.
Both legends and Disney canon cloning had great trouble producing force sensitive clones. It took palatine a while after the clone wars to succeed
Becuz no one can get rid of the chosen one ☝️ should you be Palpatine yourself 😆
Sidious: “nah I won’t let you die that easily, you’re coming with me”
Idk maybe because he is the chosen one😱
i love how ur explanation was just the sunk cost fallacy
Who else was there? He had just killed pretty much the whole Jedi order
Imagine if bro did this legit. Would probably take like... 3 months to release? (1-2 shinies per day)?
If he would have left Vader for dead then order 66 would have been for nothing.
Damn, Palps is a child-groomer 💀
Yes and that's why we love that's why we love copy he certainly yeah he is very much a groomer touching Him in many placesn many place
Sith name given to him by dark places and all the set they call him Lord child ghoomar
Him and his master groomed many children
Also like the dozens if not hundreds of surviving Jedi wandering around the galaxy, now see likely none of them could actually kill or destroy the empire, but it could still do damage to the empire and slow its progress. Also Vader (in my mainly uneducated opinion) helped keep all these Jedi divided, because they knew if they let their location be known they could expect a visit from Vader. Although yes storm troopers could kill these Jedi, Vader was just, much more effective.
After spending 13 years grooming Anakin skywalker
💀 💀
😵😵😵
Fr it sounds way more dirty than it needs to 💀
I played in the school band my freshman year of high school. When my sofmore year came up.I had to choose between Geography and Band. I chose Geography, and my band director came to my house to try to convince my parents to make me change my mind. 🤭
I'm basically Darth Vader.😂😂😂❤
Wow 🤯
Why Geography? That was an elective class or after school club?
@@mimoe7587might have been an ap geography class. I took an ap world history class back in my sophomore year of hs and the teacher assigned such an absurd amount of busy work that would’ve taken an extra 15-20 hours a week had I decided to actually do it. Instead I decided to not do it and drop the class so I could keep running on the cross country team and have a life. To be honest when I switched to the honors class I felt like I learned more in that one anyways.
"did have his reasons for keeping the Chosen One..."
Because he's...the Chosen One?
Sunken cost fallacy....
There is no escape 🔥🔥
Darth Vader could be unstoppable if he didn’t try to force jump over Obi wan like Obi wan did to Darth Maul which is why Obi wan said don’t try it
So in a way Palpatine was a pedaphile
🤷♂️
That and he’s essentially his Father. According to Disney Tie In Comic, Pappy Palps influenced the metaclorines in the force and made Shevi(?) I’m terrible with names. He basically stalked her on her way home.
So when Rey and Ben kiss (I don’t exactly they are to one another, but Ben is Annie’s grandson an Pappy Palps essentially made Annie, while Pappy Palps had a lame child and then a force sensitive granddaughter ).
Side note: the Jedi were so arrogant in the movies: saying The Choosen on wud bring balance to the force. Then it was he who’d stop them then it was he who’d eliminate the Sith. But Annie did bring balance to the force by bringing the Jedi down to t he Sith. The Sith even knew more than two was enough and more would just be sheer arrogance , chaos, incompetence and stupidity.
I think that both sides were meant to end, and ones who could balance both wud replace the Jedi and the Sith. I thought his even before the last minute McGuffin Esq “Diad Of the Force”.
I thought it was pretty simple. He knew Anakin was supposed to bring balance to the force, which implies he would kill Jedi
How does killing the Jedi bring balance to the force?
@@histguy101 there has to be equal good and bad
Only a handful of Sith and an entire temple of Jedi
Sunk cost leads to another downfall
Vader might be a quadriplegic rage bot at that point, but he was still better than 99% of any people he could train as a new Sith apprentice.
Taking a whole new apprentice would also take up a lot of time, which Palpatine as the new Emperor of the Galaxy just couldn't be bothered with.
It seems like a loophole and writing mistake if compared to reality circumstances. Sure maybe vader helps invade the universe quicker but he was a threat even if only somewhat compared to whoever was left in the known universe. Palpatine is ruthless and has killed his allies before for mistakes and weaknesses and failing him and it falls in line with his character not this mercy crap he should anakin in the prequels. At the very least he could have killed him after a few years. Just because the jedi were dead doesn't mean force sensitive users were still being made by the force overtime. He could have trained another. I mean within palpatines lifetime he seen his master who was elite, yoda, obi won, quid and dooku, mace, luke and darth, maul as very powerful users who blossomed so others could have been found as it was not some anomaly. Don't forget princess leau was full of luke level potential. Based on how the story played put through the prequels, it was out of character to save him. It was also stupid how darth vader was so loyal for so long when his love of his life never got resurrected. How long can you string along someone without losing patience?
Simple he needed a good attack dog
🐶
He knew that Padme would die because of Anakin in his anger he was manipulating him the whole time but he had a attachment like the video said Padme if obi wan hadn't showed up padme would have been able to talk to him
Vader was too useful to let die, even if he was completely crippled he was the best general the republic had, and inspired foerce loyalty from the clone troopers.
His strength in the force was only a small part of why you would want vader on your side
🎁
Because Anakin needed to be in the Original Trilogy and this was a prequel
That will kind make since when he loved padmà and why palpatine chose bade to be his 3rd apprentice
Palpetine had no other candidates to be his apprentice before he met luke, so he saved Anakin.
So in the end, Anakin had the very thing he needed to be a Jedi Master? No attachments? Ironic, isn't it?
Because continuity errors would ensue if he didn’t.
And his influence of Darth Malgus was the other reason as well
“Grooming” was NOT the right word 😭
Pretty sure maul n dooku wer always meant to be temporary
hmmmmmmmmmm
Keeping the villain*
Yeah, i geoomed anakin alright
So its a sunk cost fallacy
Cuz of the plot?
BS Sith move on.
Bc he returned the favor after mace whooped him lol
Then came Luke.
