- We are Joe and Mathew Kyle. We build stuff.
This video is a little behind-the-scenes look at a custom backlit photographic print. The photograph is of Aspen at dusk on Christmas Eve. It measures 96” x 40” and it part of a limited edition of 10. We only have a few remaining!

I have seen on multiple pages about acrylic prints that one big advantage they have is that they are transparent thus can be backlit, yet when I search on RUclips I can't really find many, if any videos at all about builds for it. This video was a great showcase of how amazing a backlit acrylic print can be. One could also add different colored leds for depending on the print in question. And this video has less than 1k views? This is actually a particular kind of chromogenic print on fuji film, which is then facemounted to acrylic...completely different than a direct to acrylic print. But I've always wondered why more people haven't done this!
@@kylebrothers1734 Fantastic work - I’ve been looking for ways to present some of the art I’ve created to explore my recently acquired chromostereopsis. I was thinking of backlighting an acrylic print, but always imagined that some kind of film transparency would create a better backlit image… What you have done here is exactly what I was imagining! Kudos! Do you have any further info on the Fuji film application process? Where did you get the large format film printed? And how did you apply it to the acrylic? Thanks again for sharing your creative process. It’s inspiring. If I had $25k spare I’d definitely drop it for one of your prints. They are exquisite.
i cant tell you how much happy this made me thank you. will be building mine soon .
Thanks Ishaan! We can't wait to see!
Making the 12x24 I just got printed from my local shop look like TRASH! This is freaking fantastic. When you first said the price I was like "you sure about that??" But I think it's totally justified after watching.
It's getting closer to my dream of having the print look like a window to a real scene. The lighting definitely adds depth that you can't produce otherwise. Keep printing!
@@kylebrothers1734 definitely still searching for a good place to do prints. None of the local places around Huntsville AL do anything bigger than 12" tall, so I'm gonna have to venture online and see what I can find! You are certainly getting pretty dang close to the ideal of the window, this thing is stunning!!
Hey man thanks for watching!
I absolutely love this project. The inspiration alone for something this size is beyond incredible!
A great crazy work!!! Impressive! Best compliments! ciao
Super dope! Light artists!
Great work of art Bros
Well done guys am wanting to learn
This is incredible
Wow! really amazing
Its made like holes in the windows, behind it another picture of colors and behind it leds? or the windows are orange defaultly and the lights just brighten it?
Legend guys 👍🏻
Beautiful amazing and wish I had one
Very nice!
Set it up to a timer. Move with the hours
Incredible work!
Wow amazing work it’s super cool that you can adjust the lighting to make it appear to be day or night. Can you have it on like an automatic timer that makes it dimmer and dark at night time and lighter during the day time?
Kind of Like to play with this does looking at the cable maintenance will be a expensive problem
What print type did you use to achieve this? I want to try this with a photo of the northern lights and try to add a flickering effect to the northern lights. Might try it with a addressable led strip and a arduino wih a rgb controller
Looks awesome! I want to do one of the Titanic sailing at night with the stars. This would be the same type of product as Duratrans backlit film correct?
I see a business idea here cool shit guys 💥💥👍👍💥👍👍👍💥👍👍👍💵💵💵💵💵
Thx. This helps me with what im planning. 4 x 8? (Snorks) i need gobs of those. The asking price is interesting too.
Ive been the victim of theft and forgery of these things and used for money laundering. So ive got to do all of this myself.
4500 lumens sq ft max. What percentage of that do you use for the parts aside from the street lights?
hello boys, this is great work - is this a duratrans / fujitrans print?
Need a couple at the top for lighting
That's way too cool!! Nicely done. Your dream is definitely loading... Mine is to make what you have on the walls already. How do you do that?
Hey thanks for the comment! Are you talking about the astrophotography?
@@kylebrothers1734 Yeah. How do you print and mount on such a huge frames? There is a classiness to them that you don't see so often.
@@koinangedavid4235 It's a Fujiflex print facemounted to acrylic...ask your print lab if they can do it!
@@kylebrothers1734 Great! Thanks.
Amazing ! Wonderful , How can I get this image as wallpaper ?
This is amazing! Can you break down the costs for me? I’m guessing the print was the most expensive thing
What company did you use to print that? And how much was it ? Thank you
Damn Bro this is seriously epic. 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻🔥🔥🔥 can you please let me know How much does the print cost and where can I get it from?
Hey Adam thanks for the compliments! We make all of our own stuff at our shop here just outside Aspen. This particular print retails for $25k USD (backlit, framed, ready to hang) and it's only available through us - the Kyle Brothers (we took the picture, too). We only printed 10 editions at this size and I need to double check but I'm pretty sure only numbers 8, 9 and 10 are still left for sale.
Bro I want to get into this on a smaller scale tho!
Ha! What size were you thinking?
$25,000... I'm curious what the material costs were. I assume everything besides the print was under $200. I have no idea how much prints cost. For one that size I would guess $500-$800. Labour was probably 40-80 hours being generous. That's about $300-$600 per hour for labour. Man, I really need to do something with my life that pays this well.
If Van Gogh see this, he will cry. Ask that, Why didn't we had this in my time?
Do you actually can produce for other people?
what print material you use ?
Hey there . Can I order one ?
hi, what's the best material to print the image? that can illuminate the light? Thank you
We use Fuji Trans film for the prints.
@@kylebrothers1734 thank you so much, ypur work is amazing
@@azelenahcarino1566 Anytime! Thanks for subbing!
25000 USD? Cant you built TV wall the same size cheaper?
25k... you can buy a TV of that size for the price lol.
Okay, but hear me out: for $1500 you can buy an 85" smart TV and display any pictures you want.
I don't like to undermine artists or people who handmake stuff but $25,000 is way too fckn much for a printed photo. maybe it it was hand painted but it's not. Put it down to $5000.
WTF $25000? You could buy 10 large screen TVs for that price, mount them on the wall and display that picture 10 times (an probably still use less electricity that that thing).
Might be cheaper to get a tv.
how does this nkt have a million views!?
25k scam
I can make those with way less money, maybe 5K top
Are you guys on Instagram or something as you've not posted in a while.
