Another advantage of these 4-season stoves with a hose feed is that you can use an adapter and clip on one of the much cheaper aerosol-type gas canisters. Not so good in cold weather but widely available.
There is in flaw with this gas burner... The pins on what you put the pot, kettle etc are in a slight wrong position. There is a small design error. Only the very tip of the support are touching the bottom of what ever you put in the gas burner - stoveidmf you will. But who knows if they have calculated that the supports will bend under the weight 😂🤔 So the supports are a bit upward and not horizontal as they should. Otherwise it's good, sturdy and powerful - highly adjustable too. Will see how it works on the trail... Some kind of wind shield could be included with it tho... Well, gotta figure that out with some diy methods.
Why not make a thicker gauge steel wire like a coathanger into a little support stand that can prop up the canister and the threaded valve end up like an inch.
right on man thank you I just started to get into a small stove but I didn't know that they had the trouble of feeding in the winters but now I know thanks ill have to look for a style like the one you have there
I hear a lot of people complain why their stove doesn't work well on cold mornings, or at high elevations. Hence the reason I never do boil tests on camera. Here in Utah, at 10,000+ feet which isn't uncommon, you lose efficiency and boil times increase. Snow and cold make stoves way less efficient unless you can flip the canister like this one. Cheers!
Nice stove. I am a big fan of the GSI gear. I think you get a lot of quality for the money, usually quite a bit less than MSR. I am an MSR fan too though. I have also been really realizing that having a wind block is a huge advantage and this style lends to that perfectly. Nice review.
Thanks dude! I didn't mention it, but simmering with this stove will almost require a wind screen, but that's the benefit of a 4 season stove. No blowing up canisters. Cheers!
It's called a generator tube and it doesn't make it more efficient if makes if to be able to convert the liquid fuel into a gas by running the liquid fuel threw he heated generator. This is something done in all white gas stove like MSR XGK stoves used for melting snow. It's nothing new as generator tubes have been used on stoves since the late 1800's it is a good stove though as it packs up small.
Like this setup! Many times, I cook from inside the tent to make coffee in the morning.... I'd be curious if you lengthen the steel braid hose (say 2-3') or long enough to leave the burner outside of the tent and bring the fuel on the inside, how that would effect the performance. Great follow up review!
I don't know the ability to lengthen the braided hose, but I would think that the performance wouldn't change. I only say that because you are working with a pressurized canister. Using white gas where you have to pump the bottle to create the pressure may be a different story. Just my thoughts though.
RESTLESS OUTDOORS there are ways to do this but you are loosing pressure the longer the hose gets also you are loosing fuel to run that longer line. Is it really worth it no to me it's not with it
That's what I thought would happen.... at least the liquid part I think would turn to a gas the longer the hose... still, I think it's worth a test to see!
'you can get it on a simmer, something you can't do on a MSR Whisperlite' uhhhh yeah you can, just depressurize the bottle by unscrewing it once after priming.
Awesome review great video Adam the weekend hiker sent me over an shouted you out I am subbing to you your welcome to ck out my channel if you want thank so very much devon, Annie!
I got it the nest in the 650 toaks pot with the canister upside down in the cap off from it
Nice stove. Looks like a good winter set up. That thing was really rocking when you cranked it up.
Yeah it's a favorite piece of gear now!

Where can that kind of adapter be found?
I backpack as well. Often our first meal requires a stove that will simmer. Thanks for pointing that out.

Cheers for the review, is there possible to buy a hose replacement if needs be ?
Thank you.

Hows is this stove holding up after all these years?

Thanks Devin, Very nice stove.

Can I use a Lindal adapter and use a #1 propane canister in the winter???
Hi, thanks for your comments. How is the simmer in cold minus 15-20 C ? Fast, slow ? Regards
Will the small Stanley cook pot fit on it?

Solid answer! Thanks!
Love that stove! I almost picked one up yesterday!
I love it! You can always borrow this one if you want! :)

Great honest review, thanks mate. Cheers
Great review!
Good review.
Man that was a good review.......Awesome
Did you review the msr stove you mentioned?
I have not reviewed any MSR stoves.
You missed the opening out which is fiddly
Why didn't you show how to fold it up ?
'you can get it on a simmer, something you can't do on a MSR Whisperlite'
uhhhh yeah you can, just depressurize the bottle by unscrewing it once after priming.
nice
ugh I just bought a kovea a few weeks ago.
No reason to not buy another!
Maybe put some rocks under it to make it easier to adjust. Common sense.
