In 2003 i was an OTR driver and had an experience in Jersey I'll never forget. I exited I-80 in some town while looking for my customer. About a mile into town (at 1am), i come to an intersection that has low bridge signs on all 4 corners. I got myself trapped. A tow truck driver had seen me driving through town and decided to follow me. At the intersection I'm stopped with my thumb up my butt as he walked up to my door. He asked where i was going and if he could help. I told him the name of my shipper, and, miraculously he knew exactly where it was, 15 miles away. I got off at an exit with an identical street name to my customer location, just far too early. Not only did he tell me how to get there, he blocked the intersection so i could pull up, turn, back up, then turn back the way I came. Then he led me the whole 15 miles to my customer! I was 23 years old and I still remember that guy. There are good people out there.
We need more people like you. Honestly dude you have my total respect. Been driving 7 years and lemme tell you. You are truly a rare gem. Thanks for helping my fellow driver.
Hi, I'm a truck driver and have gotten into similar situations especially early on in my career. One such as this in NY and a very well dressed gentleman in a very nice Lexus helped me find my way off of a parkway. There's not many like you and him out there. So I just wanted to let you know how great a thing you did for this poor guy. Thanks for being a good guy especially when most people would have just blown their horns and flipped him the bird...or video taped him hitting a low overpass for a RUclips video. Anyways, sorry for the long comment and stay cool bud!! Thanks 😊
Appreciate your kindness sir, never being in a situation like that when I’m New York but thank you for helping us. I have so much love and respect for you sir.
What a guy!!!! I’m an OTR truck driver and even with all the planning and following of posted signs this happens…. Traffic gets overwhelming and we’re only human. Nothing worse than realizing you have no idea where you are or how to get out of the situation. You’re one in a million man thank you for being so kind!! 💕
The hardest part driving a tractor trailer on the cross Bronx is trying to get over to the major deegan. NO ONE let's you over, you literally have to just cut drivers off and force them to let you in.
That one is pretty bad. The really hard part is going from the major deegan southbound over to the 95 southbound across the GWB. Gotta cross two lanes of traffic to get to the upper level.
As a trucker, we really appreciate people like you. The problem with trucker apps is that someone (often locals) has to go into that program and manually imput the best route. Low Bridges aren't allways marked for example. It takes the kindness of others to get us to our destination while obeying traffic laws (and not getting into a situation where we need to do something stupid like back 1/4 mile down a one way road.
I am an OTR truck driver (but I'm from NY) and we as truck drivers thank you and appreciate you helping one of our brothers.By the way,he didn't have to take the Major Deegan/RFK to get to Long Island. He should have stayed on the Cross Bronx and taken that to either The ThrogsNeck or The Whitestone to The L.I.E. (I495) 👍🏾
You are the nicest person in the big city that actually helps a driver instead of just watching them driving in to trouble which is easily done I delivered many times there especially hunts point and the meat district by pier 45
It is much appreciated when someone credits us and knows about how hard we work, the difficulty and extreme stress that can be at times. Everything you are saying should be thought to everyone when getting their license, regardless of the kind.
Sir you are a hero . Im a OTR driver too and I know trucks are not allowed on NY parkways . That's why i always route my self before I go into NY the night before. Drivers ; we have this great tool called GPS that allows us to see road per road live and up close , use it and you will never have a problem. Once again sir thank you for helping a lost driver in NY city.
I'm not sure how I came across this video but and you're a good guy I started driving truck back in 1988 from Florida up through New York the Fulton fish market then mass and it's a damn good thing I had my Uncle with me because we were going through there and I was scared of just being in the passenger seat
Really appreciate what you're doing here and hope you do more. From my limited experience (driving through the bronx a few times, Brooklyn once) I know how tricky it is. I originally subscribed for your urbex of old bridges and walkways though. Hoping to see more of that.
Hey I just want to say thank you for helping this guy. The closest to the northeast I've gotten was Philadelphia, and I can only imagine it's even worse in New York. Thank you again
Thanks for what you did I'm a truck driver 2 OTR but I started out driving in New York so I know which highways to take and what highways not to take can't thank you enough
Thank you for helping truck drivers. I don't go to New York anymore but when I did I found myself turned around quit a few times, and that was before GPS.
You are God sent sir being in New York isn’t for the faint of heart for you to help this driver through this situation proves there are still good people out here May God bless you
Buddy let me tell you, you are awesome. You are one of the few people that feel for us as truck drivers. You are so professional in helping us as Truck drivers. I been to hundreds and hundreds of customers in the USA but never been to New York. Thank you very much for helping us. God bless you buddy.
I PRAISE you !! You are a good person ! I've been knee deep in the hoopla in NYC and it's nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun. I certainly don't miss my produce days in Hunts Point. But I have run into NY'ers that have helped me get my bearings straight. Thank you for what you are doing 👍
derek7521 I agree bro, I don’t miss my produce days to Huntspoint either. Driving the the Bronx city was tense to say the least. What a weird place to put a distribution center🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
thank you! i will be driving our truck in that exact spot tomorrow morning- i will stay to the left!!! and thank you for helping that guy and everyone else you take your time to help- pay it forward!!!!
Never use the GPS from your phone ever! Fortunately my company has a Nav onboard, but I also bought my own personal GPS as a back up! Some of these cities are crazy!
I had to deliver a load in Brooklyn and my truck GPS still lead me to failure 😞 😂 New York and Philadelphia need to get it together . But brotha you are a good man I pray much blessing to you. New Yorkers helped me back into a building and gave all em 20 bucks 🤣
Hey bro, a lot of thanks to help the truck driver I am going to move from DR to NYC in the truck driver business, and I am definitely gonna be in this type of situation, learning a lot with your vídeo
I've been driving big truck for 18 years, and i am moved by your understanding, just this morning i had to make 3 u-turns on country roads because of a detour just out side my home terminal. Thank you for helping that driver, thank you so much, and many blessings to you and your family.
I’ve been once in a similar situation and very thankful to a driver told me to follow him thank you to all you guys who help and understand what mean a truck driver is a big boy and hard to drive in some routes thank you 🙏
Thank you from a trucker, really you are one of a few people that understand and help truckers is not an easy job and with some one like you out there specially in ny city is a very good news...
There’s a history behind this. New York State’s older limited access roads were built before the interstate highway system was created. They were designed by Robert Moses, New York’s legendary and possibly greatest civil engineer. Moses was commissioned to build a highway system, and the governor and the political powers at the time promised Moses that the highways would be used only for passenger vehicles and not for commercial traffic. According to biographers, Moses knew that politicians were liars, so he intentionally built the parkway system with a large number of stone overpasses deliberately too low for trucks, and too costly to raise. Thus, he successfully thwarted the politicians, preventing them from allowing commercial traffic. You might say he “helped” them keep their promises. In addition to all of that, the Moses highways were built in a day when autos traveled at 45 mph, and didn’t need wide radius banked curves or long acceleration lanes. The old elevated West Side Highway, now demolished, was one that I drove many times. It literally had ninety degree curves in places to go around some buildings. No modern truck could possibly navigate them. It was even hazardous for cars in the 1960’s, when I drove it. On some of the Long Island parkways the stone bridges were arched, and were so low that they could be a close shave even for cars in the right hand lane. There, a little bit of NYC lore for you, from an old New Yorker here.
Tashi Delek and Namaste 🙏 ! I was looking for truckers and wanna be trucker one day and I found your clip and made me right away subscribed and liked because you are man with golden heart kind humble compassionate wow I have no words . This is what we need in this world right now helping to others who needs help . You took your precious time and helped him wow god bless you and your whole family sir 🙏🙏🙏. God is always watching you because of your good deeds.
I'm also driver from Canada and make this trip once and that was my last trip to NY . You are so kind and nice person. Only few people understand problem facing truckers every day behind the wheel.🙏
Thank you, Chicago has an express lane i94 heading west from Indiana side. No trucks allowed and also lake shore drive they're not allowed. We need to clone you in every city to help the outside drivers from making mistakes
Keep it up God ovulusly put you there to help people you are an angle thank you for respecting truck drivers God bless you and your family over and out
You are a awesome guy...thanks for your help as I am a truck driver myself...help is always appreciated accidents do happen unknowingly and people now are just robots and first thing they do is instantly stop and video for commercial views...

Thank you! Wish every New Yorker was like you. I keep my truck off the east coast. You're a great help
I agree. Because I've seen too many instances where New Yorkers act in the exact opposite way, and not just towards truckers.
