It appears to be that way, however... From what I read, being in business since 1898, and the markings on most of the equipment, I bet most of it was used by them until they broke down. Now based on what Jason Asselin said, 600 just needs a traction motor. I bet i could we could get a crew to work for free to get one swapped out to see it run again. I'd be the first in!

Of course the FOXY is friendly, they're an offshoot off the WSOR. the Wisconsin and Southern is one of the friendliest railroads out there. I know before the FOXY was held up by the STB Ted Nicholson was going to go from WSOR to run FOXY. Ted was a conductor, engineer on the WSOR and designed the WSOR 40th anniversary engine. Ted is one of the really nice guys out there. One time he saw me on bridge and came out of warm cab in the middle of winter just to wave to me. If Ted brings that attitude to FOXY it will be a fun place to railfan.

Nice to see you do a collaboration with Jason Asselin and having him show you more of the Escanaba and Lake Superior Railroad. If you really want to see more steam locomotives that have seen better days, check out the Rails West Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs, IA. They have UP 4-8-4 #814 and CB&Q 4-6-0 #915 on display with no kind of shelter whatsoever. Great job getting footage of the Jeep fire as well. Hopefully no one got hurt when the fire started.

Looks like a good place to be but unfortunately E&LS are too strict towards railfans. Seeing all that historic equipment reminds me why shortlines are the backbone of the railroad industry which give it the oil. It's a shame ESLR is not friendly with railfans because they have alot to offer us in terms of history to share. It's a shame to see the pigeons have turned the steam locomotive into their personal toilet.. It makes you wonder once they get the funds that they won't move it to another more railfan friendly place. I have sympathy for the family who lost their Jeep, electrical fires are very scary, but at least nobody was hurt and the worst thing they'll have to put up with is repairs and a new ride.

One of the issues with railfans and ELS (or Railfans and many railroaders) is the few bad apples that ruin it for all. Jason's channel frequently has fans trashing the railroad, how it operates, and how the crews do their job. After a while those who work on the railroad for a living get tired of it.

Interesting video. I am in the SW LP of Michigan. I used to run KLS&C 85 and other engines on the Kalamazoo Lake Shore & Chicago Railway from 1989-94. It was both a fun hobby and work as an engineer, conductor, trainman, and fireman. I ran the tourist trains, dinner trains, and freight trains. The line went from Paw Paw to Hartford where we interchanged with the CSX. We were railfan friendly. Still safety of railfans, public and passengers was paramount. We could be both nice as could be or very angry. It all depended on what people were doing. I have been both.
On You Tube, I know of 3 videos of the KLS&C. I was not running any of the trains that day. I have run all of the engines/trains you see in the videos.
While with the KLS&C, I learned that most people have no clue as to how much railroad engines and freight cars weigh. I mean totally clueless. I would ask kids on the tourist train as I was punching tickets how much do you think 85 weighs? The kid's answer was like 10 tons, 15, 20... When I would tell the kids the answer, 122 tons depending on fuel load, I would watch the parents jaw drop!!! It was fun to see.
Do you volunteer on the tourist railroad at North Freedom? I have been there way back in 1975 and road their train.

RRHMA has plans to eventually restore the Nos. 3985 and 5511 steam locomotives to operating condition. The donation agreement allows the railroad to reclaim the locomotive upon reimbursing the museum for its costs. On May 13, 2022, RRHMA launched a fundraiser to raise enough money for the restoration of the Nos. 3985 and 5511 steam locomotives.

I've seen Jason's videos before and as much as I support the police they are NOT using common sense with him. All the guy wants to do is film trains by his house and what does he get ? Harrassed by the Railroad, Police and some weird guy (probably a FOAMER) keeps following him around his town. I've never seen this level of harassment for a Law Abiding Citizen whose did Nothing wrong. Show this guy some Love and Support. He deserves it !

Back in the 90's when Ohio Central Railroad ran the old Penn-Central line through Coshocton County, Ohio, restored steam locomotives were a regular sight and wonderful sound through here. I actually saw them used (as well as some former Gettysburg railroad"F" Series) pulling the daily coal train from Cadiz to Conesville. They also offered public excursions using steam and diesels on the line frequently. Damn I miss those days.

NAHMA. Just a short distance east of Gladstone then down a county road to the village. It is a very small Baldwin 2-8-2 which has been moved under cover at a village park. In remarkably good shape considering how long it's been since the logging RR shut down. I have a copy of a video about the RR and logging industry there ("Fallen Timber, Faded Dreams") put out by a PBS station in Wisconsin that has images of the locomotive working. Worth looking for.

That's funny, i Subscribe to both you rock stars. You for trucks and Jason as well. Dealing with enforcement is just a day in our lives. I think the cops understood they were already at the top of the hill and the war will never end against a man and with trucks. My best friend in high school in Chenango Forks NY married they guys daughter that ran those Baldwin sharks for the D&H. I love watching who drives by you on your camera mounted on the load on your trailer to see if its one of my customers trucks.

An interesting video. Love seeing the old equipment but sure would be nice to see it in better shape. Maybe someone could get a group together, talk to the owners and see if it could raise funds to help restore it at least. The group could also check into finding a new spot to display it. Hopefully it can be restored before it is ruined completely.
You two make a great team, but quit picking on the cops! lol.

I been buy that train several time's. And when i had the kid's with me. I stopped and let them see it. And sure enough here comes the POPO. And there like what are u guy's doing here. And i was like the kid's are just looking at the Steam Engine. And they was like move alone. And i said there are no trespassing sign's around and u can't do nothing. That one female officer was really mad. And here comes another patrol car coming the other direction. And the 2 cop's quickly got in there patrol car and left. I showed the Captain the video and he said they will be taking care of. He said they kept harrashing people at the park. And i said hey no offense they think they have a gun and a badge they can abuse the power. And he said they just lost a settlement against somebody that was treated bad. And i was like ha ha serves u right. And he got in his patrol and left. Dam i bet the engine got hot due to the radiator fan not working or water pump went out or lack of radiator fluid. I seen that happened month's ago. And the couple was trying to get there 5th wheel detached form the trailer. And i managed to get the trailer detached from the 5th wheel. And i sent out a driver to bring a day cab over where i was at. And he did and i told the couple that i will haul the trailer to there house for them. And they was really happy. They wanted me to go to the dealership where they purchased the Truck and they demanded there money back. And they was giving there money back after i contacted a good friend of mine that's a detective. And the couple was trying to find a good truck. And they had there eyes on a daycab cargo truck with a small sleeper. And they brought it from us for 5 grand. It run's excellent and drives good. And the couple are still touring the United State's and never had no issues with it.

Seems to me like the loggers need the ELS more than the ELS thinks they need them. But that would also explain in part why the ELS is reluctant to maintain the line too. Maybe they have a PR problem?

It took a shaming comment on VR to get the Horseshoe pass heritage loco painted recently. These locomotives are part of the history of life and progress in the US. Think about the potential of the use of these historic locos as an asset possibly with tourist trains at weekend's and national holidays spending big bucks on your property.
