That flashing green over red was a "limited clear" signal, which means they are preparing diverge or crossover to another track. Before I got on to the railroad, I used to do railroad crew transport for PTI ( Profesional Transportation Inc) and I used to run crews to Toledo from Chicago and I would dog catch In Edgerton and Bryan Ohio. Where you were was a pick and drop off spot. Also that flashing yellow over red is an "Advance Approach" that usually means they'll be preparing to stop at the next signal. Oh yeah and green or "clear" I actually do tell my engineer to hammer down🤣🤣. That last train you filmed was a "key train". That train was in what is called a HTUA (High Threat Urban Area) so those trains have a speed restriction throughout the city or the HTUA. Once it gets into a rural area then it can speed up. There's a whole long story of why this rule applies.

✌👍👍 way cool. I wish the batt in your scanner was up. Your standing right next to the RFID transceiver, and track detectors. The short poll on your side with the long white antenna, and to two short device on the other side pointing up at an angel. I think the Radio uplink antenna is at one of the other equipment huts that talks to the Satellite system to Norfolk control. this was a great catch. Thanks

They are putting a lot of faith in the track being set correctly. At that speed there would not be any room for error.

Hi Steve. Happy New Year to you. The next time you see those Triple Crown trailers passing by, look out for the Conrail symbol on some of them. Conrail was into the Roadrailers as well as Norfolk Southern. Just thought I throw that out to you.

Most of NS tracks are not double track anymore, and east of Edgerton it goes back to single track. The last tanker train is one of the ethanol trains that runs through the area. The train goes east back to Fostoria where I'm from.

Great catch, Steve! You weren't too far from me here in Fort Wayne. A little west of there in Waterloo, Indiana, they have a relocated depot that serves as the Amtrak station and a nice railfanning platform. You should stop and watch the mainline there some time.

Railroads call these cars 'tank' not 'tanker'. Not a big deal, but they are tank cars not tanker cars.
