He was about to accept his failure and death, imagining his grown-up yellow calf come to him and recognize him at verge of death.. but the calf didn't. of course the calf is not real, it's more like symbol of kind heart and good will of past dongrang. so when the calf just go past next to him, the real meaning of the scene was : even dongrang himself couldn't consider himself as a human who didn't pass the line. and he just realized that by his passing yellow calf. so instead of accepting peaceful death as the one who wanted get rid of pain.. he accepted that he is empty husk with friend's stolen legacy, and decided to embrace it and carry on living. what a sad man.
another think you can hear donrang KILLING the cow when he says "I dont need you anymore" which means not only did he leave behind his kindness and humanity he killed it as well.
Gotta love that when Yi Sang teleports to stab Dong with the feather knife, he leaves behind his reflection holding the feather knife in a shattered mirror to the left and reappears holding the shard.
He's really relatable to me, having a desire to be 'seen'. When they rejects his invention and had to make him put it into the incinerator, i just knew that was the moment he broke.

I got time to play Canto 4 when all the chapter update is done and grinding the stage until the end of the dungeon. Worth dodging the spoiler coming from any social media. Really glad Yi Sang got an ideal story. He is my favourite Sinner from the beginning of the game and reading the story make me cried, especially during the wing scene and the singing Saranjinae.
