After giving it some time, I finally understand Dongrang’s issue. He wanted recognition for his work. No one seemed to give him the recognition or respect he thought he deserved. He held himself up on a pedestal at least thinking he was still a good but misunderstood person… but he became blind to the fact that his ambition for recognition led him to commit horrible atrocities. He realizes this when the calf he saved doesn’t seem to remember him. His world view and understanding of the world around him completely collapses at this point. In this delusion Dongrang finds someone to blame, and that’s Yi Sang. The entire time, Yi Sang is forced to watch Dongrang fall down this path of self destruction and blaming others, and realizing that he himself is destined to follow Dongrang’s path if he doesn’t start making his own name for himself. This is added to the trauma of seeing his friends become lost and fall down the path of self destruction and self pittance as well. This chapter is an excellent outside look into how depression and self destruction affects everyone else around you. How hopeless the rest of the world seems and how everyone seems to care nothing about you when you’re in the depths of depression.
Pretty sure dongrang didn't blame Yi sang in his EGO form instead he embrace his actions and realized no one actually recognize his work and accept it he no longer the one who denied all He just want to start his own path even what he do rn is just so messed up He didn't want to kill Yi sang cause he hate him or blame him for it he just do it cause he want to cut the last straw that link him to the league before starting his own new path However this fight is pretty sad Yi sang and dongrang Definitely filled in categories as "I can fix him" At the end of it dongrang doesn't really regret that he died by Yi sang since Yi sang gained his way back his soul are filled with determination again like old day when the league aren't disbanded it And dongrang could see that however it a good time for all of them Even dongrang actually want to escape shadow of the league It pretty a bit bitter ending but i would say good ending in this canto
I think for me the moment I started to empathize with Dongrang was when I thought about what it must have felt like to have his work tossed into the concept incinerator. Not just from the sensation of feeling all of his effort being burned away, but from the fact that the people he was closest to, the people who constantly looked down upon his work, determined that of all the technology to burn away to try and bamboozle T corp his was picked. No wonder he’s so desperate to claim recognition. He doesn’t want to ever experience that feeling of being disposed of ever again. But its also where his biggest flaw remains, as Yi Sang said in his ego’s observation log, there were two paths that he could have chosen. One that is the one he picked and the other is one where he dedicated his life to helping animals and feeling fulfillment from that. But ultimately both paths are sought after for that selfish desire for fulfillment. He doesn’t really care about the animals he helps (or at least not anymore), he just felt satisfied from the act. The reason I described him as a selfish person even on the path of helping others is because if he truly cared about doing good, what would it matter if his heart would get scorched again. Although ultimately I am somewhat conflicted in describing the alternate path Yi Sang described as selfish. In real self fulfillment through acts of kindness is something almost impossible to take away because it was born from your own mind and experiences. The concept incinerator robs those in the city of that privilege. Its one thing to bury someone’s work so that the public never gets to experience it, its a whole other level to bury it from the one who created it. And from that lens its why even after everything he’s done, I empathize with him for personal reasons. Im the type of person whose favorite activity is daydreaming, writing, and drawing things for myself. And the thought of feeling any of that being stolen from me, is horrifying. And I can see why when robbed of that humble intrinsic motivation… Dongrang would abandon everything for purely extrinsic goals. On a side note I wonder if this is something that happened to Ryoshu and why she became so obsessed with the art of violence. Its just much harder to be burn away the experience than it is to burn tangible artistic work (I also wonder if this is why N corp is so against things being video recorded. If an event is recorded and then the recording is tossed into a CI would allow you to destroy the memories of those recorded? Just some empty speculation)
honestly, the themes in this chapter.... amazing i still believe rodya "should" get farmwatch if we ever get that in future loops/chapters of the game. she wants praise so badly its starting to show, through even her frosty false facade.
I loved the details you put when sinners are standing in the way for yi sang, and yi sang himself at the end. Even if I agree that canto 6 is objectively the best canto for now, but this canto still holds a special place in my heart. It's the most touching one for me, this canto is just ideal
I really like even after Donrang finds a way forward he keeps that shakiness in his voice To me it says that despite his own words, despite his resolve to try again after failing so horribly, he doesn’t fully believe in it Like he has to keep going even though all he’d rather do is lay down and whither away, left to be blissfully ignorant of all the terrible things he had done in the name of proving he could walk on his own Yet it’s the only thing he has left, everyone and everything else is gone, and once Yi Sang is gone too, then can he wholly believe in his delusion
I’m hoping with the Canto III song, you include the music that plays during the sin chance roll. Like the fade out to a more quiet version of the music, I just feel it added a lot to the canto.
I know canto 6 is peak and all but canto 4 is still my favorite, it just hit extremely hard in every possible aspect, it wasn't that challenging but packs the most emotional impact out of all of them, especially because you can kind of simpatize with the main antagonist, Fly, My Wings is also my favorite boss battle song from Limbus. That final cutscene was so peak I almost shed a tear, mainly due to the surprise element but still. (Shoutout to my boy Hindley for being my favorite canto 6 character btw)
Canto 6 is objectively better, the stakes were higher, vergillius beat the allegations, the story was still fantastic but I can't help but come back to the best moments of canto 4 and just admire them over and over again. The fly my wings scene made me cry like a bitch and it's just such an incredible story that it's still my favorite canto. I will never, ever understand the people who say that canto 3 is better than 4, worst take in history.
@@artyy3742 how vergilius beating allegations makes canto 6 good? Maybe it's more good because characters have a purpose instead of like some characters in canto 4 being useless and forgettable
