- I wanted to lift my GEM about 4" to make it look cooler and fit car rims & tires. Let me show you how I accomplished that..
► ABOUT THE VIDEO
I have a 2005 Polaris GEM. They are all electric vehicles designed to be used in neighborhoods only. They aren't the coolest things in the world but i love mine. They are way nicer than gold carts IMO.
I have this annoying habit of lifting any vehicle I own. Maybe it has to do with being 6'4". Maybe it has to do with having a tiny....schnitzel. Who knows. This video is a quick overview of how I lifted it and how easy it is. You can do it too.

I appreciate it.
At some point I had to decide if I wanted projects to take 3 weeks to complete, with videos, or 3 days without.
Filming and projects and editing along with a full time job as well as a side business was spreading myself too thin.
I still make stuff and have 20 or so projects going in my shop, just off camera.
We totally understand how filming slows things down drastically.
I just purchased a flooded 2015 gem and was able to get it running yesterday :)
My goal is the smoothest riding golf cart possible.
The first easy way is to get the smallest rim and largest tire that will fit.
I have seen lawn tractor tires at 26x12x12. Then air them down. Tall sidewalls...
These tires will more than likely need a lift and axles moved outward.
Next would be air shocks.
I like your DIY attitude.
Any idea if the 26x12x12 tires would fit with your lift?
And any low cost options for air shocks?
Thanks...
Hi, I like the idea of the front basket, can you please help me find that exact same one and also help with installation instructions. I have a 2015 E6 Thank so much in advance.
So with the lift kit dont you have to do something with the steering column

@@kendallmills1221 How can I contact you ?
yes, he cut the steering shaft and stuffed both cut ends into a piece of tube or pipe to extend it and welded it..
Hello,
How did you get the front fenders that are attached to the body to meet the hood if you moved it out and down? Thanks Mike
Just bought a 2002 Gem. Really like what you did to yours. Do you still have it?
Thanks for sharing new friend here watching
What happened to your channel? Cool content. Funny, self-deprecating humor. Great editing.
Where did you get the toolbox on the back of your GEM Cart and what size is it.
Matt did you have to extend the steering column?. Did you have to extend the bracket from drive gear to battery tray? I am running into that problem. If not I guess, the moving forward with the increase heigth allows it to pivot enough to bolt up the same. Did you un bolt the steering column?
I did have to extend the steering. I just chopped it and welded in a sleeve to give me whatever length I wanted. No unbolting needed relaly. If I recall I jut undid the knuckle to remove the lower shaft.
@@diymatt Thanks , that makes sense. Really like the idea of pushing it a bit forward to fit fenders better

hysterical
Would you make the metal brackets and sell them, I have a 2000 Gem E825 four seat
I have 23x10.5x12 wheels
how much $$$ are the parts ?
Dug the gem videos. I'm curious about the range you get with the battery upgrade. Also if are thinking of another power option since installing the volt batteries?
Thanks!. My neighborhood is small, 3-4 miles across, so I can't speak to range very well. I also doubled my battery packs since the video and that really eliminated any range fears for me. After investing so much in the Volt batteries, I can't see myself switching to any other batteries anytime soon.
Not sure if you still have it but do you remember what the l
thickness if the steel and what type of steel? Thanks
Not offhand. at least 1/4 I'd imagine.
When ya going to take us for a test drive!? :)
Do you have any templates from this lift project? I have an 03 e825 I want to lift and put bigger rims on. Did you have to do anything with the fender mounts to get it to fit bigger rims.
Thanks.

Hey Matt! Thanks for the videos!
I am thinking using a gem for shuttle service.. How did you double the batteries and how much did it cost to upgrade? A new gem with upgraded batteries goes for close to $31k😱😱😱

Kendall how do I find your 4” kit for a E825?
What size tires and rims can you fit on that gem with a 4 inch lift
I have some nice Mazda 16"ers on it I bought recently. Nicer than the ones on it in this video. Many people go even bigger.
this is your most recent video from 4 years ago.. what happened?
Matt would you build and sell me a lift like you did on your gem I have a 2002 gem E825
Thanks for the comment. GEM are all hand-built in that model year so even if it fit mine it might not fit yours. You just have to do it yourself or have it contracted out. It's pretty darned easy if you are handy and just think it all through.
how much can a gem tow?
Hey Matt I have a 99 e825 and cant find any 4 inch lifts , is it possible for you to give me specs on how to make my own possible pics would be great , (no machine shop will have to make myself with every day tools)
In the next 2-3 weeks I'll have 4 inch lift kits for sale if you're still interested
@@kendallmills1221 interested
K. Mills I wish to purchase a set
The main issue with kits is most of the GEMs are hand built, so what fits on yours will not fit on mine. I did it all with basic tools. Just an angle grinder and a drill press and a welder. Just get under there and figure it out.
K. Mills I’m interested. Can you pleas email me at rmitalovich@yahoo.com
I'm in the market. How much dis gem?
Jello matt
I'm more of a pudding kid of guy.
