My wacky headcanon, Simmons, privately asked Coulson about the exact nature of the deal. That was oddly specific.
Coulson freak out was understandable since he is getting two years of information at once and he also now knows about sarge

Sarge was cool, but I missed Coulson and even though this isn’t really him, it feels so much like og Coulson with his geeking out over history and making little comments like, “Why is nobody talking?” so I hope that we just get to enjoy him and he doesn’t go all Aida crazy.
In virtually all the ways that matter, LMD Coulson is still Our Coulson! Same personality, same memories. His internals being made of technology, doesn't really change WHO Coulson is. This version, is merely "Coulson 2.0". We got him back.

@@ReelMeurik Going into the season, I couldn't imagine getting attached to LMD Coulson. It took a long time to get over Coulson's death at the end of S5, and then just when I was starting to believe that we were getting him back in S6 (Sarge's "Kill me, Skye!" moment) ... then it turned out that Sarge wasn't what he seemed.
But, you know, in a funny way, I actually loved this Coulson best of all. I think I just related to his existential crisis about who/what he was so much that he feels like every bit as much of the genuine Coulson as OG Coulson.

Gregg's acting in this scene is phenomenal. My personal favorite is when he says "no" three times upon learning he is an LMD. First, he's like "no, you're kidding haha" and then like "no way, you're serious?" and then almost protestingly "NO! He didn't want this! This is wrong!!"

Coulson processing the 2 years of missing information and memories reminded me SO MUCH of the Doctor-Donna in Journey’s End. Him saying everything processing out loud screamed “Binary binary binary”

It's a story of trust,it's a story of betrayal....it's a story of redemption,it's a story of hope....it is an emotion.
I am going to miss this team.

(Referencing Source Code movie) so maybe he was frozen temporarily until the experiment. Idk. But yes he legit died and was brought back. I just wish they had him show up in another Avengers movie.

When Coulson (Clark Gregg) is on the screen, I'm hanging on to every word and nuance. The only two other times this happens is when Heath Ledger plays the joker and during the movie Becket. I am literally frozen in attention absorbing everything I can.
I loved the series and having Clark Gregg play multiple versions of Coulson was brilliant.

I still love how I thought Coulson was brought back the first time as a robot (T.A.H.I.T.I.), but then my theory actually came true much later than expected in S7.

S6 E13...What a roller-coaster ride from start to finish. Poor Caulson. He just couldn't stay dead for long. SHIELD keeps bringing him back from the dead in one form or the other. Now as an LMD even he himself have a hard time accepting this reality. I wonder how May will react when meeting Caulson version LMD.

The premiere was great, except for one thing, where the hell is Fitz? He is my favorite and I really don't hope that he only appears in a handful of episodes. I loved how the premiere dove right back in where they left off without any time jump. Since it is the last season, I do hope we see the team working together in more than one of two episodes and not apart like the previous two seasons.
He was filming something else at the start. And so he couldn't appear in certain episodes, same as with series 5.

I know his mind was updated with information about the time he missed out, most likely through security footage of the real Coulson and then Sarge in Seasons 5 and 6, both of himself and the rest of the team. But then how does he seem to remember making the deal with Ghost Rider? He knew one was made, but he seemed to be thinking out loud of deciding whether or not to let Ghost Rider burn through the Kree blood. The rest of the things he said we can gather as him reacting to security footage, or him quoting himself, not thoughts. Could it be that the LMD of Coulson still has some sort of link to Ghost Rider?

My personal headcannon is that Fitz, Simmons, and Enoch used the time stream to not only find the path to defeating the Chronicoms, but also to "recover" as many of Coulson's (and possibly some of Sarge's) memories as they could.
This always happens. You tell the robot he's a robot, but he didn't know he WAS a robot, so now we have a robot that's figured out it's a robot, and it trying to figure out it's purpose, but then the robot becomes self ware, and attempts to end itself, because it can not comprehend the meaning of existence, and therefore, can not exist, so it's software malfunctions, and it blows itself up from the inside.
I think someone transfer Coulson's consciousness into the LMD version of coulson
