I really like this format of consultant-client interaction. I’d love to see a web series like this where you consult other creators and we can see how they grow after they implement your feedback
These 15 minutes are more valuable than some things you learn in school for like a whole year. You gave out some priceless pieces of advice right here. Really happy to have the opportunity to listen to you guys!
Can confirm, I learned more from this 15 minute video than the past 4 years of college combined. RUclips and Podcasts have been more beneficial than any college course and these are free vs the $22,000 I still owe to my University.
This kind of video has a STOOOOPID amount of value, I watched it laying down, now I just got up to watch it again and take notes. Great job Colin and Samir.
im not a creator or anything, but i would think that any point after 50,000 ish people are solid and follow you, then the merch is a good idea, just never soend more than what u bringing in and never make too much stock of something you dont know if it will sell,
I'm not a creator, but I would release merchandise when you believe that you have a fanbase that will purchase something that you offer. That could be 5,000 subscribers or 5M+. There will be a very small percentage of your fanbase who will buy anything you offer.
I really really really really really really like this format. I think the idea of asking us to put forward our questions is great on so many different levels: 1) It's like a continuous source of new ideas and content for you 2) It give us the chance to interact with you guys 3) It helps everyone who's watching with some serious insight and knowledge that's very practical and real-world So, keep doing these please. And yes maybe I'm slightly biased because I put a question in and I want to get on haha!
Hey Guys, I would love some guidance on a project I am pitching with another creator/boyfriend. Key things I want to dive into: - How to best build a pitch deck for large brands like Nike, Subway, Snapchat, and Google - We are pitching a Longboard dancing road trip. We are building out a bus to take around the country but we don't want it to seem like we are just another creator couple hitting the road. We know that the internet doesn’t need more of that content. What could be a cool way to avoid that potential assumption? - On top of that, we have built out most of the logistics of the trip, we have also built out our why and branding of the bus. Our current problem is how do we best showcase that in a short and concise way. Also, what are the most important things to highlight in a pitch deck. - Along with that what is the best way to package a tour? How many sponsorship packages should we offer and how many sponsors are too many? - Also what is your strategy for cold emailing brands? How do you find and contact them, then how do you go about pitching to them. Sometimes you only get one shot. I would love to elaborate more if these questions interest you. My email is ItsBrookeJohnson@Gmail.com -Best Brooke Johnson
Congrats on the partnership! Sounds like it was a long time in the making!! Would love to ask you guys how hard it was in the beginning and ways you monetized early on. I’m a small creator that’s been on RUclips for a little under a year and I’m struggling to find ways to monetize and grow exponentially. Some days I feel super motivated and excited to make content, I spend hours if not a couple days planning and prepping a video and putting it out. Other days it gets really hard to keep going, I’ve probably put out around 120-130 videos on my channel and I know my value proposition but I would love to know how it was for you guys in the beginning of it all!
Very informative video that helped me to understand the framework of creators. You guys provide so much value to your fellow creators :) Some Constructive criticism from a long time fan: Pick a more relevant title - I was expecting a pie chart of all of your revenue streams and how you go about making that money Cut the intro - I almost clicked off the video because I just wanted to get into the details. Maybe try having a super quick intro, going straight in to "Our Income Streams" and putting the Samsung Ad Between the sections.
Hey guys, just wanted to say you guys are one of the most honest, if not the most honest creators on RUclips. You guys were one of the first guys to support me when I put out a video on my channel 4 years ago. Although I stopped making and creating , lately I feel like I want to create again. Now I know how to go about it and doing something I like and enjoy. I don't want to hop on the wagon just for the sake of it but I want to do something I love. How long do you think is the limit to brainstorm about what I want to do on my channel before it manifests into inaction.
Colin and Samir, this was so iseful. Thanks so much for breaking down how to approach monetization and loved your thought process on creating a media kit
Jesus, I love you guys, y'all are the direct definition of show don't tell 😉 The intro is just a straight banger by itself, the aesthetic is crazy, smooth, and cohesive + the graphics get juicier every new video. Samir I think you made the creative slide since it's only one colour and lack steez. (colin if you're the one who made it...no diss ❤️) Keep the video coming. You're changing the lives of creators!
@@Pratik08 Same, I make about $1 per video off of Adsense. But that’s where the diversification comes in because the sponsorship is paying a lot more than that. Not career money, but “I don’t need to work a part time retail job anymore” money.
Really solid episode. I’d pitch another video all about brainstorming and actively working to remove the barriers to brainstorming, which in this case connected perfectly with the 2-1 Samsung with the S-pen that’s super flexible and can improve anyone’s workflow.
I feel like you guys could do way more with courses! Love the video though - interesting to see your different revenue streams and congrats on the Samsung partnership!
Very insightful video, guys. Many entrepreneurs are struggling with finding the right clients and getting paid. Monetizing in general is what I also get many questions about. Great job!
This was amazing thank you so much for this! I’ve heard this multiple times, but the way you guys explained it was super digestible and made it sounds actually do-able.
Love this video. Elaborates more on what I learnt from Samir in his talk in CreatorNow (which was awesome). You've motivated me to go away and create a media kit now and pursue sponsorships. Thanks guys!
This is a very useful video, thank you! Can you go back to the beginning and talk about how long it took you to figure out your target market and nail out your mission statement as it is today?
I want to know how you get in front of the brands you want to work with to make that pitch. are you seeking out people in marketing? are you sliding into their DMs? are you leveraging your audience to give you a shoutout? how does that process work?
I loved this format. It was engaging and you did a great job at setting the expectations of what would be covered from the start. Also, a great way to add brand integration into the format.
I would love to see you guys do a show on the intersection between an Artist, a Creative, and an Influencer. Because they all seem to do roughly the same thing. They make content to be looked at by the public. Each group can make things that can comment on society or just exist for the sake of existence. Yet it seems each group shies away from the other groups' titles. Why? Is there a difference between them? I would love to see your insights. P.S. I think Samir did the "Show don't tell" graphic.
I think Samir wrote out Identity around minute 5. GREAT VIDEO! Love this topic. Samir, I enjoyed your talk via Creator Now, and it really helped me take my latest video to the next level. Thank you
An idea for you guys could be to do a deep-dive into how important or not it is for creators to share values with advertisers. Is it all about grabbing any money from whoever wants an ad slot or is it important to know, share and identify with the advertising company in question. What happens when adpocalypse hits or if the company or creator is in part with a scandal. Can and should the other party be responsible? Lots of examples of this already on RUclips. A contrast of this would be regular TV where basically any company can advertise and no blame is put on the program creators or channel in case of a scandal from the advertising company or vice versa. A Pepsi ad can roll right before a WW2 documentary. A Samsung ad can roll right after an Apple news story. Would be really interesting to hear your guys take on it all.
Is it important to have a website as a creative? Do you need a landing site for sponsorships/partners to look at your “menu” of deals and how to get integrated?
This video is absolute fire! Collin and Samir never disappoint when it comes to delivering the goods. I mean, I clicked on it expecting something dope based on the title and thumbnail, but man, they took it to a whole new stratosphere! It's like a mind-blowing double whammy of epicness. Big props to Collin and Samir for dropping knowledge bombs like nobody's business. Keep up crushing it guys 🙌🔥

At what point is the right time to release merchandise for a channel?
I was thinking the same. I would definitely buy a shirt or a hat.
im not a creator or anything, but i would think that any point after 50,000 ish people are solid and follow you, then the merch is a good idea, just never soend more than what u bringing in and never make too much stock of something you dont know if it will sell,

Can you cover the #Shorts video format? Advantages & Disadvantages?
I’d appreciate their take on it too

I think "Show don't tell" was maybe done by Samir.
Did you guys happen to link the creator you interviewed?
