A lot of what looks like empathy is actually virtue signaling. They are simply posturing with very little in the way of understanding, so they easily get eccentric. This was a great show👍👍

    • @KirkWallace-lw4sl
      @KirkWallace-lw4sl 2 дня назад

Exactly, because when confronted with an option, for instance, to house an illegal migrant in their own home, the empathy evaporates. If it was truly empathy and a belief in equity, they'd give away their treasures and support as many people as possible. But they don't and they rationalize their ineffectualness with mental gymnastics, doublethink if you will. Realistically, it's that they don't actually care about others - they care about how others see them, about how the Party sees them.

I am a psychotherapist who uses empathy everyday. However, it is possible to empathize with a client to their detriment. I have to ask myself, am I empathizing with this client to seem like a good person, or am I empathizing in order to help this client? Empathy is needed for understanding and to relate to another person. In my case, I must empathize so I can understand what is needed for the client’s best interest and how to inspire change. Love your show!!

What is your opinion of the amoral beginnings of psychology as a field of study? Also, do those amoral beginnings hurt the credibility of the field? Also, overall, would you say that Psychology as a science has been a net positive or net negative on society? Last, what do you think of the somewhat shaky data on the efficacy of talk therapy? It seems like we, as a society, have put a lot of stock into psychology as a science but from my perspective it seems to have done nothing but make our society more mentally ill and less likely to be able to deal with problems in life without having a mental breakdown.

Your rational response as a therapist is a contrast to the upsetting current state of things, especially certain changes made in the DSM-5. Affirmation therapy, the way it's currently being used, is destroying a generation. If I get more specific, I expect my comment to disappear, but needless to say, it involves empathizing with a client to their detriment.

And not to mention the creeps in it. I saw this website years ago and was shocked these creeps are in charge. Effing crazy. I am permanently disabled and stuck at home, no family and no friends ever come over, so I am alone 24-7. I am fine with it, but my point is this, I get that most everyone else has so much going on, work, school, family, friends and everything else that a person is involved with, which I do not, so I have nothing but time to watch or read about these leftist agendas and ideological movements keep creeping into our society, schools, employers and nearly every facet of life. This means life is hard, absolutely and unequivocally, it is just a fact of life. I am not judging nor throwing "shade" when I say this but, PEOPLE, not ideologs or people hungry for power and or notoriety, just people, absolutely MUST start to work even harder if they want things to change.
We need people, not professional politicians, to start running for school boards, public LOCAL offices as well as other political offices. I get that most people are "too busy" but are you really? Do you have time to watch RUclips, TikTok, Netflix, go to the movies, go to dinner or any other number of things that we all do for ourselves for enjoyment and recreation? Would you be willing to work 2 or 3 jobs to support those you care for, your children, your families? I bet most would say yes. Then do the hard thing, maybe one of the hardest things honestly, sacrifice yourself and your time to better the lives of those who depend on you already, those whom you love, because if you don't run for some office due to it being too time consuming, too much work or you already have too much going on, I guarantee you that there will be a dozen or more, left leaning, liberal-progressive, ideologically aligned, toxic people who are hateful and judgmental of anyone who doesn't accept their dogma and beliefs, that will gladly assume these positions of power to further their absolutely insane agenda's, thereby controlling the lives of those who will then have no choice but to accept it or be punished for objecting, because we are "too busy".
Doing the hard thing, is often the right thing. Life is not easy, accept this fact, and it does become a bit less so. We The People, desperately NEED YOU to step the F up. I would if I could, but I am unable, and I understand many are also unable, but many are quite capable and can, but won't because it's hard, takes too much time, but what is more important? We must sacrifice to make things better, it all starts with us, rather, you and excellent channels like this one, that brings these issues into our living rooms and informs us of the abject evil agendas that are being planted into all our lives, forcefully. I wish everyone the best and hope this finds you well and maybe makes you consider doing the hard thing, making your communities and country better by being a good person doing the right thing.

I highly value Dr Saad's work. I think it's all very valuable to understand, if you want to grasp what is driving a lot of people today. However, I think the true root of the problem is a leadership crisis in our institutions.
Something happened that allowed a critical mass of highly influential leadership positions to be filled with people who are abject cowards. What we have seen is the result of bowing to the mob. It's what has allowed the insanity that has been going on in universities. It's why so many political activists have been able to insinuate themselves into the healthcare system and the school system. So many of the problems we have experienced are simply the result of failed leadership.
Many of the worst excesses have been solidified by leaders who went along with the demands of the most insecure and mentally unbalanced people in the country, for fear of their reprisals, instead of those people suffering the consequences of their often _illegal_ behavior.
Probably the most extreme example of this, is the Biden administration hamstringing Israel, because of the demands of screeching college students, instead of addressing the fact that a terrorist organization took several American citizens hostage. At any other time in our history, this would have been a joint military operation between the United States and Israel, because by taking American's hostage, Hamas would have made themselves our explicit enemy, more so than they already have. Instead, the United States is literally trying to negotiate with terrorists, a thing we refused to do, on principle, for decades.

Haha this guy is funny. And he's saying what many of us see and think but he's articulating it better than many of us have been able to.

Thank you so much for this episode! I dropped everything to watch this professor speak common sense that is so eloquent & unrefutable. It's this kind of talk we need plenty of in order to combat the media and propaganda. And today, Trump looked great in that garbage truck and orange vest!

When you see the media compilations and realise that someone has given them their talking points/word of the day it is unbelievable. Joy, weird ..

Yes it is absolutely by design. It’s propaganda. Period.

The scary thing is there dozens and dozens of examples of other talking points compilations showing the same thing over the years. And it's not just the Democrat pundits/contributors repeating them, which can be expected, but it's also the hosts, anchors and so called journalists.

I wish you had brought up your talk with Bill Maher when Dr Saad was talking about Kamala and how people think Trump is disgusting and awful.
I love Bill. I’ve listened to him for years, own several of his DVDs including Religulous. I think he has TDS. I truly believe, when it comes to Trump, Bill hears what’s in his head and not what is actually said.

🇨🇦⚜️⚜️⚜️French Canadian here. We used to be a culture. We made laws to protect the language but now, the culture is forgoten. When something done here is in french, we call it French Canadian. But it is often a lie. Something woke in french is not about French Canadian culture. We suffer from amnesia collectively. Unfortunately, autorities uses our differences to " divide and conquer ". Both federal and province authority uses it to fool us into false problem so we don t see the real problems. I hope yuotube wont censor the topic cause it often is.

I love Gad Saad. His books are excellent. You first came to my attention on the Biggest Loser here in Australia, Jillian, and I have recently subscribed to your channel to see what's up. You've had some great and interesting guests lately; I commend your open-mindedness and ability to challenge yourself and, by extension, others (including myself).
When science, logic, and reason are replaced by a bizarre melange of Neo-Marxist gnosticism and ideology masquerading as moral virtue, I believe we are being set up for something mendacious and, ultimately, evil. There are those so infatuated with what they believe to be detrimental power structures that they have had to fabricate problems for which only they have solutions; ironically these activists and intellectuals have made the world more divided and problematic, in service of their own quests for power.

what a truly interesting conversation... Gad Saad never seems to disappoint. what a bright mind. it's so interesting as well to watch jillian really take in this information, accept it, process it in real time, and really just think about the things being said in a deep, meaningful way. i wish more people would be open to doing just that. very cool.
