Sean Naylor (Not a Good Day to Die) and Pete Blaber (The Men The Mission and Me) have both documented this battle incredibly well in their respective books. Particularly, the reasons for the breakdown in leadership by several that led to tragic results. I am perplexed that Slabinski states that his CCT John Chapman, was killed instantly, when it has been proven beyond a doubt that he was not KIA, and in fact, although hit, stayed in the fight until just before Razor 1 and Captain Self's QRF crashed on the mountaintop. I wonder if he has been instructed to specifically stay away from speaking about it? Would also suggest Dan Schilling's, Alone at Dawn, detailing Chapman's life and role in this.
The predator video contradicts all points for this individuals MOH award, Navy actively blocked John Chapmans MOH award (in the meantime putting John’s name on the Seal Wall of Honor in VA beach ( the only non-Seal on the wall), look @ his following assignments, he traded honor for advancement!
Love how the Mayor kept calling him Britt Stawinski until he read the bio. I agree that until the drone video came out the narrative for the events of that day were very different than what was presented to the public (including this interview). Not downplaying Command Master Chief Slabinski's career and achievements, but Chapman's heroism should have never taken a back seat to any of the events of the day. It's good when technology actually works for the good of a situation.
I have a very hard time believing that, had Chappy been a SEAL, they would have left him, whether Slab thought he was alive or not. But since he was a member of the Air Force and thus not a part of the "brotherhood", he wasn't seen as important enough to bring with them

@@brutusvonmanhammer He had 2 other men wounded one man 1 confirmed dead and he thought Chapman was dead too. You must be a combat veteran with great leadership skills, Im sure you would’ve done a much better job then he did. I also find it hard to believe that one enlisted man had enough power to block another man’s MOH, that part was obviously done by officers up the chain of command.
