I also live in Cartagena and I pay about 7 million pesos per month (or about $1,750) for rent and all my utilities. But with that I got a three bedroom apartment in an affluent neighborhood, one block away from a beach, we got a chef/maid and many other amenities.
The only people who’re surprised that we pay what we pay in Cartagena are those who don’t travel or have never traveled to Cartagena. It’s hard for these people to understand that not all Colombians are poor and that there are many extremely rich and high middle class Colombians living in Cartagena.

Facts bro! It's crazy that people think everything is dirt cheap in Colombia. Obviously that's the non travelers

You have to throw in there furnished vs unfurnished. For us gringos it’s easier and less stressful to get a place furnished. And lastly no major city in the states has anything under $2000 now. Inflation hits different these days.

Most people have no idea how life is structured . Now imagine if those condos were only 500 a month . Or basically super affordable for even the locals. Nothing would be for rent there and it would look like the rest of the country ... People That's used to getting by in their home country want to go other places and " ball " on a budget. I get it but it's not happening or slowly changing. Gotta level up 1st then enjoy it 💪🏾..

$1500 is a lot even for the proximity to the beach.
I know a girl who pays about half of that in bocagrande. Of course like you said it goes based on amenities but yeah I’m not paying $1500 a month that’s steep

  • @Data_CPA

I said it's too much because the locals do not pay that. As foreigners we gotta be on point so they not trying to win on us. I paid $1k a month for a 3 bedroom ocean front new building ....my Colombians told me I over paid

Good video brother yeah a lot of these guys don't have perspective they've been told that places are third world and everything is cheap but not realizing there is a sector where we choose to live people are making good money, there is no middle class to bring down the prices, either you have it or you don't. Plus, there's not a lot of financing going on in these countries. Most of the time, you got to pay for something outright, a car, a house, etc

Living here - I paid 3,500,000 pesos for my rent and my utilities for my apartment in Torices. And he's not wrong about the safety etc. But I'm not concerned about that - so it works for me. Go for what you want. If it's price point - do that. If it's location - do that.
