  • "Voice Of Freedom" by Jim Kirk & The TM Singers. The song spent 3 weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, peaking at #71 on 2/23/80, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross. "Voice Of Freedom" also spent 3 weeks on the Cash Box Top 100, making it to #83. Jim Kirk (born James R. Kirk), created & produced music for American Top 40 & American Country Countdown, as well as jingles for Coca-Cola & the Boy Scouts of America. In 1975 he became creative director for TM Productions, where he created and produced more than 6500 commercials & jingles.
    In 1986, he left TM Productions to form Corporate Magic with partner Buddy Scott. In 1997, he created & produced the syndicated program "American Moments", starring James Earl Jones and the late Charles Kuralt.
    Today, Kirk is still with Corporate Magic (since been bought by Gaylord Entertainment in 2000), where he serves as President and Chief Creative Officer.

    So awesome you posted this. I'm one of the kids that was singing on it. My dad was VP of Sales, and he hauled me and my cute neighbor Jenny in one morning to track that part with all the other children of TM employees. I was in 4th grade. Just found my 45 of this last week but it was broken.

    You know your Jim Kirk history! I worked at TM when this was produced. Jim and Abbey were the leads. The little girl was his niece, I believe. Can't remember all of the other voices but saw/heard them every day. What a power house of a company it was when Tom Merriman was there.

    I remember this song, I have it on a 45. I seem to remember the proceeds were to be aimed at the family's of the Iranian hostages probably with help of the Red Cross. My local radio station played the crap out of this back then.

    This song was an attempt to boost America's during the Iranian Hostage Crisis, but to no avail.
