Great video. As someone who played D1/2/3/3 expansion. And not immortal or D4 or path of exile. I honestly think at this point elden ring is better than D4 and Exhile
Yes totally diff game genre. But tbh this Diable genre of games Is so boring graphics wise and the game feels like a loop of wall around click do stuff hoardes of enemies perish, repeat. Not saying they are easy games they aren't
But they are so repetitive. I prefer to play elden ring, nioh, etc and other souls like gamed over diablo like games

I only played POE a little back in 2020 and liked it but my PC couldn't handle it. Forward to now, I played D4 and thought it was fun but it left me wanting more. I then remembered POE only now I've got a good PC. I've been having a blast so far and love the depth POE has. So thank you D4 for getting me back into POE.

"it left me wanting more" - That's pretty much Diablo's business model in a nutshell. They give you JUST enough to keep you hooked and they drip feed you a little bit more each season. PoE on the other hand you get A LOT of stuff each season and it actually sticks around for you to enjoy long after the season is over. I've skipped many seasons of PoE and come back and found all sorts of things that I missed and still enjoy playing it.

    • @immatoll4375
      @immatoll4375 Год назад +4

@@kwith While you are right, that is actually not always true. PoE also has often mediocre or bare bone seasons. I remember 12 months ago when the big streamers like steelmage ragequitted poes new season because of some design choices they made to loot etc. So it's not all shiny and great at PoE either. Also I personally do not see the microtransactions currently as an issue in D4 because PoE is also impossible to play serious for free. It's also a $50 game to get proper stash tabs while currently D4 is only about cosmetics - at least for now. In d3 you got stash tabs per season so maybe they get the issues fixed (which are still a joke).
D4 definitvely has it's issues but still i had my fun over some time. Can't complain about spending $70 after playing 200 hours at least. I think it is worth looking into the game herre and there like in D3 over the years. But it is hard to recommend poe either. I mean 12 months ago all big streamers like steelmage started to boycott the game because of new design decissions - poe was burning... but now its the best arpg of all time again? just because something is worse? I love poe, but damn we need poe2 asap. and poe needs to focus on new player experience...
PoE still has a lot of issues that are actually holding back new players: Why the f do i need PoB to play this game? It's so ridiculous not to give new players a option to "test" builds early game. this takes a lot of fun to experiment with things you find (e.g. gems or items). There is absolutely no reason to not offer some free respec till for example level 80 for example or giving someone 500 reset points. I know so many people that just stop playing after a couple of hours because they are frustrated to be overwhelmed by the skill tree and not having the option to respec early on (without materials). The skill tree would not be overwhelming if they could try out stuff ingame. It would bother no one: you have to relevel gems anyways and pros play with pob also... workinng through their checklist. why nnot give new players a good new player experience. why not have at least a overview early on what gems are available in the game to have an imagination of skills... the problem is that as a new player you have almost zero freedom in poe to experiment... same about loot filter or crafting... all this stuff does last epoch from SSF perspective actually does hundred times better in my opinion.
for me there are also three other factors for me: 1) poe is ugly af and just dated. we really need poe2 asap. 2) the flask spam is annoying (but k they got some automation for it - still annoying). 3) multiplayer does not really feel good. the issue with poe is just that its hard to be "on the same level of strenght" as other players. i know barely people that do not play this game solo. a lot of stuff is to single player focussed in my opinion and it is hard to be on the same stage as your friends. wish they would may get this some more time because that was always something that made d3 a betterr experience in mulitplayer and having fun with friends at least.

It is not really 'free' - if you want to play trade you will likely need a currency tab (~$12) and at least one more premium tab for trading ($5) but you definitely get more value out of those payments, and can add them gradually as things go on sale.

    • @DisastrousIntentionally

Only issues I have with Grim Dawn, how bosses can just be immune to things you build towards sometimes and rely on for keeping your whole setup functional (like freezing enemies to nuke them down) on Normal difficulty things like Blackwater Molotov and Blood Pox can essentially just win the game without investments anywhere else and I hate the abundance of enemies that explode and hurt you after you kill them. Besides those things, I'd say it's a very solid alternative, even over Torchlight.

    • @th3orist
      @th3orist Год назад +13

imho the world scaling in d2r is perfect, the monster levels per zone per act per difficulty tier are fixed and you still have differences within one difficulty between the acts, so its viable to sometimes just go back to a certain act or area and level up a bit more or farm for items.
thats not possible in d4, everything is just so samey, the power fantasy.
and another thing is that d2 does not display monster level, its all more about feeling your way through, and i think its a good thing.

No, Diablo 2 is a bit bare-bones over all, but it is still better than D4 - especially since the characters FEEL like heroes (with a sorc you can clear the screen in 1-2 casts of your main ability, except immunes! In D4? You need to proc everything, time it right etc. and even then it isn't half as smotth! Same for a say a Hammerdin, a Javazon, a Bowazon, a Necromancer (even Army-Mancers do work in D2!) or a Hurricane-Druid! Not to mention that in D2 you aren't out of Mana constantly! They could have made the strongholds end-game content instead of throw-away levelling content. Pack them full of level 130+ elites and once you've completed all 3 in the zone you unlock a cosmetic armor set for your class themed around that zone. The strongholds were actually really interesting and dark, but you were done with them in 10 to 15 minutes. Imagine wandering in there while levelling, getting 1 shot by an elite 80 levels higher than you, knowing you'd have to gear up to take them down.

We're talking about a billion dollar studio that had all of the necessary tools in place to do something mind-numbingly obvious in D3's endgame, and didn't do it.
Rifts allow the character to go deeper and deeper into a dungeon with the promise of more rewards and higher difficulty the deeper you go.
      Greater Rifts were timed versions.
It's not overwhelmingly obvious at first but once seen it cannot be unseen: the only difference between a regular Rift and Diablo I is the story. For all intents and purposes, the endgame of D3 is a D1 mini-game.
Almost everything that existed in D1 existed in some form in D3. IIRC, most of the assets for D2 were there, as well. So, where were the Time Rifts? Just using the word 'rift' implies an intent to implement them but they never came to be.
I'm not saying that Time Rifts allowing you to 'play' D1 in D3 would have somehow turned D3 into the greatest game ever made. I'm saying that Blizzard had everything necessary to give their players a collective orgasm and decided against it. It was right there in big neon lights, it took no effort at all to think about, players were asking for it because it was staring everybody in the face, it was the most obvious thing in the world they could possibly have done... and they chose to ignore it.
If they can't do THAT, how can anyone reasonably expect them to do something actually innovative?

There are a few things sadly that prevent me from enjoying POE. Which makes putting up with whatever shortcomings D3 and in particular D4 has the more viable option. For me to enjoy POE there would need to be the ability to respec in SSF, I don't enjoy trading, or having to trade at all. POE has this amazing build diversity but then seems like it does everything it can to prevent you from experimenting with it. In the past when I played it I would make my own obviously bad builds and be unable to progress and be unable to respec. Even If I liked trading I don't think I could fix the character. It just got to the point where I couldn't progress through the acts. Which starts to really highlight the softcore death penalty. I felt like soon as I leveled I could have fun but the further that XP bar got across, the more I had to just kill 1 trash mob over and over to get the level finished . If they had a super softcore mode where you could respec in SSF and no death penalty's I'd be team POE all day. Been many years since I have played it so maybe some of this has changed.

With PoE I was only getting frustrated. Eventually I followed other people's advice and followed a build guide and man... this is simply not for me. I only have a couple of hours per week to play and why on earth should I waste it letting other people play for me? In my opinion, PoE is a bloated game. Full with unnecessary (and sometimes redundant) attributes that sometimes I think are only there for the sake being a "complex game".
Another major point for me is play style. Even after following a build guide I realized that most of the gameplay revolve around spamming the same button ad aeternum. I can understand if this is for you but to me this just isn't fun. I have quit MMORPGs I really enjoy before for this exact reason.
Finally, I honestly think the game looks aesthetically horrible, the passive skill tree is a huge turn off and I don't like small things that D4 approaches differently like having to search for gems to use skills and spending a lot of time having to reorganize my inventory every time I pick up an item because even though I have the space, it won't fit in the way it is organized.
D4 is far from perfect and I could also list a couple of things I don't like, such as level scaling. But it all comes down to personal preference, I honestly can't play PoE but I understand if your prefer it.

Basically it comes down to how offensive their gluttonous greed is, and how these will inevitably evolve into gameplay affecting microtransactions (although they should really be called Macrotransactions at this point). There's also the fact that special armor, mounts, and other items are supposed to be simply extremely rare, and not dependent on how much disposable income you have. Only time, skill and desire should be required. Often, certain gameplay elements (like a proper inventory for example) will be left out, so in the future, a new microtransaction will appear to save the day. Not enough inventory slots or tabs? Simply buy another! No one should be arguing in the defense of a multi-billion dollar company that pays its executives more money than you'll ever make in ten lifetimes, and its development teams chump change in comparison.

There are 3 tiers of items that means you must replace your endgame gear completely at least 3 times before losing interest in the game. By item level 1000 you will have had to replaced your entire gear set 10 or more times with, fundamentally, the same exact gear with a few extra points of power or for 1 better stat if you're even slightly optimistic. Level scaling is not an issue in diablo 4, contrary to what a lot of low knowledge streamers tend to parrot. It doesn't matter for the following reasons:
      1. Mobs don't scale with paragon board or skill point synergies which are 90% of your character power, the nominal stats you get from leveling that the mobs scale with are trivial. People will steam roll open world gradually after 50, world bosses are literally dieing in 3 seconds WITH SCALING ACTIVE.
      2. There are nightmare dungeons that you can play where the mob level is set progressively higher than yours, so if you wanted to play versus higher level mobs for a challenge that also exists.

Sounds like a Harvest League encounter.
Each Challenge League (season) introduces a new encounter type with its own mechanics alongside sort of a mini-campaign. New craft materials/currencies (in POE they are one in the same) are also introduced, which expands crafting and build possibilities. At the conclusion of each Challenge League, a modified version of that seasonal content is (usually) rolled into the base game (Standard League). If you create CL character, content from that current league will be the most prominent. However, you can still encounter content from past leagues, especially once you reach the end game (The Atlas maps).
NONE of that is well explained for newbies. Much less the actual game mechanics. 95% of the cash shop is cosmetics. The remaining 5% is for extra stash tabs and currency tabs for each of the season-specific materials.

But my friends aren't willing to overlook those flaws. They like arpgs but they aren't diehard fans of the genre like I am. They don't want to replay the campaign every league, look up build guid's, learn all the mechanics that have been introduced since the last time they played, etc. D4 is the perfect game to play more casually with my friends. If I'm playing solo, I'm gonna play PoE. But I do think, if like me, you want to be able to just jump in and dick around casually with your friends, then D4 is probably the better option.
Once Last Epoch starts having seasons, maybe that will change and LE will become our go to multiplayer experience.

I logged a LOT of feedback in certain betas about how horrible the enemy scaling feels at later game. The feel that without certain items, builds felt terrible. It certainly needs work, but that times time. PoE has had 10 years to polish and expand. For some people, even Diablo players, if they have not started PoE it can be a little daunting with the number of systems and mechanics to "get it right" and find that fun level of play. If you've played a lot of PoE it comes easily, if you haven't it's a big learning curve.

TBH the quest line of D4 along with the cutscenes and story was worth the $70. Sadly The game have very little replay value and end game is worse than that of D2 (where you just grind for rare items and pvp i guess). PoE storyline however i wasnt paying much attention but i tried 3 different class bases (archer, melee and mage) and each of them felt nice to play with. The Labyrinth challanges were a nice touch i really liked and the mapping on end game reminded me alot of one unofficial D2 mod called Project D2 where endgame is collecting rare maps and run them.
On a contrast to D4 also PoE have a very high replay value as each skill build feels just as good as the mainstream. Kinda reminds me alot of Dragon Age games where you can make all sorts of fun builds and actually explore skill combinations resulting in some very satisfying builds

I'd say that Last Epoch is a solid skeleton to an ARPG that will eventually be fantastic, but it does need more time in the oven. Crafting lets you customise and upgrade your gear exactly how you want while still being accessible and exciting, each skill having its own skill tree massively helps to add streamlined complexity and build diversity into the game without feeling like you need to follow a guide, legendary potential letting you combine a unique item with a crafted item ensures that uniques are always relevant no matter how strong they are or what build you're running, the loot filter is *the best* loot filter in the ARPG genre period, and the upcoming trading system solves the problem of how to make chase items and upgrades more accessible without turning the game into a complete economy simulator. If you want something between PoE's complexity and Diablo's simplicity, Last Epoch is definitely worth a try alongside Grim Dawn.

I also feel like Last Epoch is a better "casual-ish" ARPG. Chronicon is good. Grim Dawn is a proper and legitimate successor to Titan Quest, etc.
There's just so much in the ARPG genre which is more fun than D4 is, including PoE.
I got to what you were mentioning mid-campaign because I committed the crime of attempting to level Druid. I was progressing backward in clearspeed, took a shitload of time to kill bosses, and was hurting because of the painful build-spend cadence where I only do "pack wipe" but "1/4th of an elite's health" damage every 10 seconds with pulverize and trample was "ok".
Add to the total lack of QoL and it was just hard to justify continuing to play. I didn't even get to the point where I cared about stash tabs because I was broken by basic shit.
    - No way to set default behavior when attacking to attack without moving
    - trash loot
    - no resource numbers
    - enemies still have the problem of "extreme threat" or "no threat", this has not been solved at all
    - random non-elites will just have elite hp because fuck you go clear another pack instead
and D4 solves no problems with the ARPG genre, makes new ones, and doesn't even have any rewards for muddling through that.
It's extra bad for me because I was a paladin/crusader/monk player and they just simply didn't add the diablo roster to diablo 4. Game is unfinished, unpolished, and mediocre even compared to cheap indies like Chronicon.

There is one simple and a major reason why most players will stick with D4 and leave POE. It's the combat gameplay. I've played both for many years and Diablo 4 combat and gameplay just feel much more smoother and more immersive than POE's.. POE ur endgame builds are just spamming one ability and insta clearing mobs before u can even see them. In Diablo 4 ur combat and abilities are more than just one spam skills and u can make them interact and combo with one another. This game is one that will age like fine wine, once it gets more content and qol fixes the game will continue to grow.
