When you played the first chord progression, I was like that sounds like dosed. Then once u played over the loop I went crazy lol. Love the peppers too, good stuff man. I'm planning on getting a CV model myself soon as they said older CV models are better. The model I'm looking at is a 2012 so I hope they do still have those tonerider pickups. Great vid!
I have a 2010 CV Tele '60s custom bought new and it is extremely well made and great pickups and no issues with volume or tone pots or 3 way switch, the neck is superb, I've played it every day since 2010 and I can barely see any wear on the frets at all, I have American made pro ii stratocaster and several squire strats from early Japan and even a 1987 one from Korea and this Tele more than holds its own with them.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. I still hope to grab one of these CV60s teles ...they are beautiful and sound amazing. I have nothing but love for my 60s strat CV.
how great are these!! finally scored a 2011 2 weeks ago and upgraded it with tonerider hot classics, cts pots /new wiring. not a single scratch or dent on it, superb build quality and the finish doesnt have that thick poly look at all.
Benefits of the old ones are alder body, rosewood necks and tonerider brand pickups as stock. For this model they also got the 3 tone sunburst more accurate. Current version is more of a red two tone.
Exactly - and they had a little bit chunkier neck too then comparable modern ones that are smaller. Which is preference thing but i dont really like super slim necks
I just bought a 2010, a few dings plus some vertical fine cracking on the body, but I love it. Great sound, hold tune and intonation is better than my Taylor acoustic.
i have a 2010 60's classic vibe. 3 tone burst. it's great. the headstock logo only says "telecaster" instead of custom telecaster. it could very well have gotten a neck switch at the factory as i thought all the bound ones has telecaster custom on the headstock. i souped it up with a van zandt bridge pickup. it's likely i'll use my tele neck i have sitting around. a maple 50's fender neck (from a mij tele). the classic vibe neck is great enough for a project guitar of the future.
Hi! Currently have a Fender Jason Isbell model Tele but struggling to justify the cost so recently picked up a brand new 60's CV esquire but found the neck to feel quite slim and narrow. You mentioned that the earlier CV's had a different neck carve, could you explain the differences please? Also found the bridge pickup to sound very shrill when compared to the Isbell, I know there is a big price difference but I'm eager to find a cheaper alternative as I usually play Gibsons but want a Tele in the collection just because! Any help would be great, thanks!
@@Paul-D oh yes! So you did! Watched them both before I bought my Isbell (so I blame you entirely😂 ) So many people are saying to keep it and there more I play other teles, the more I realise just why. Ticks a LOT of boxes. Thanks for the response.
Haha nice one. I still want to buy one, and i will. they really haven’t lost any value either. I would use it constantly and look forward to refretting it with medium jumbos haha
Im not 100% sure which year the toneriders were switched out, i know for sure they are in 08 through to 12 and maybe 13. So its possible theres some in 14s
I have 3 of these custom teles, 2009, 10, 12. Extremely lightweight 6 to almost 7 lbs. Completely upgraded with refrets and pickups, electronics..these and the 50s CV stratocasters are now very hard to find..older definitely better!
What is the name of that song and what kind of instrument technology are you using to record rhythms and strings? In other words what machine is that you're using?
Interesting video, thank you! I'm currently using my girlfriend's 2011 60s CV telecaster. I originally borrowed it because I spent most of my budget on the amp, with the intention of later buying a guitar for myself. But the CV plays and feels so good... it's honestly hard to justify getting anything more expensive. I owned a 2012 MIA Standard Strat, and the feel of the CV is honestly better. Either way im considering getting another guitar for myself at some point. Do you have any recommendations? I saw you own the new (and old) Sterling Cutlass which seems to be a great deal for the money. What other guitars in the price range up to 1000€/$ would you recommend, and is it even worth spending more nowadays? Would much appreciate some advice, thanks!!
A good amp will always get the most out of even the cheapest guitar. So was a good call to invest there. The cutlass is another great mid range price point guitar, i have 1 left on sale atm 😁. Dont discount shopping for used guitars either as you can make your money go a longgg way. What sort of tones/feel are you after?
@@Paul-D Hi! Thanks for the reply. I am going for a blues/rock tone, sometimes some more wild distortion/overdrive stuff because my mates like that. Also country, but I got the tele for that. Where can I buy your cutlass? Couldn't find it on reverb... thanks!
How about the older mic around 2016, were they still as good? As was still produced in the same factory at that point. Did they still use tonerider pickups in the later stages on the mic CVs? Cheers!
No they stopped using tone rider around 13ish. Atleast, in all the ones ive had from that time onwards havent had tone riders. They are still good guitars regardless, its just if you really want the best. Shop for these earlier ones that are in great condition.
The older ones are better, I have a newer one and 3 older and the older ones are definitely better. The new one is good though but the older ones just win. Just picked up a 60s tele from 2011 totally clean and some upgraded electronics to boot!
I've owned 3 Squire classic vibe tele's, the butterscotch (2013), the doublebound (2013) and the white one (2008). I traded them all for a Fender Baja tele and I have to say IMHO they are not in the same league as the Baja.
My thoughts. A total disappointment. It didn't work at all. (Bought brand new from Long and McQuade January 4, 2024) Bad 3 way switch, right out of the box.
Seems to be the thing that keeps coming up, good build and pickups. But bad switches and pots. My tech charges $50 per pot or switch he changes. I'd be better off buying a used Fender or Godin.
Theres always an exception to the rule haha. I had dozens come through the shop and whilst the newer ones were fine the older ones almost always were better across the board.
@@Paul-D that’s a real shame man, I bet you were living the dream 😔 Guitar never leaves us, it’s been through everything with us 😂 I was gonna demo guitars for a shop near where I live but I keep forgetting to follow up on it

@ There was literally only ONE and I’ve played well over 100 of the new ones and only that one was made perfectly! There well worth seeking out over the newer ones for sure. The new ones arent total shite…. But point stands that the old ones were better haha
The older pre 2017 classic vibes come stock with tonerider pickups. Fender outsourced tonerider to make their pickups for them back then.

If it's under the price of a new one and is all ok - definitely worth buying.

Hi the song is Dosed by RHCP at the start. And if you mean how did i record it? It was just a looper pedal recorded via the PC into the DAW
@@Paul-D wow thank you brother for taking the time awesome appreciate it!!!!

Body wood always varied a little from model to model and short time periods. The very first CV teles were pine akin to the very early real teles
