  • September 12, 2019 to September 11, 2020 has been declared as Centennial Year of Philippine Cinema under Proclamation No. 622 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte. It was in September 12, 1919 when DALAGANG BUKID, considered as the first Filipino-produced feature film, was premiered. Jose Nepomuceno, regarded as the Father of Philippine Movies, produced and directed the film.
As a tribute to the movie stars who became part of this history, I featured some of them in this video, from the silent era in 1919 until the talking pictures in 1930s up to the years before the war in 1941.
More stars will be featured in Part 2 of this video...soon!

I have been searching for my grandmother's picture (Naty Rubi). I was very disappointed when I could not find anything posted online in the internet under Philippine Movie Star. Nat Rubi was a pre war actress in the 30's, 40's and early 50's. She stop acting in 1954 when she moved to the USA. She won an award as Best Actress sometime maybe the 40's. I have a picture of it. Thank you for posting her picture. She is now really recognized.
