We are similar. I lost my dad in 2021, and my mom is a 2x cancer survivor... It's not easy. Like they say, Grief is the price for love. And I remember the walk to the car too. The worst. Thinking of your mama and your family...

The hardest thing you can do in life is letting a loved one go and tell them it’s ok and you’ll be fine even though your dying on the inside. I’ve had to do this more times then I would have ever wanted.

I love your reactions. They are so heartfelt and real. This song has always made me cry but in the last two months, three woman who were a huge part of my childhood have passed, one of my Dad's childhood best friends passed and my sister-in-law's mom passed away. And I learned a young man that was a year younger than me, who I went to high school with, passed away because of liver damage. And it's true, you have no idea what to say to the family. "I'm sorry" and "I'll be praying for you" seems so overused but what else is there? As much as we might wish otherwise, there are no words to take away that pain.
I also like the message in the song, where the mom doesn't yell at her daughter for drinking. Yeah, in that situation, the next morning, a parent should have a calm, rational talk about what happened, but it makes a major difference in the outcome of a situation when a child knows they can turn to their parents regardless of the mistake they made, because they know their parents will go on loving them unconditionally. The kids that don't get that message are often the ones that make matters worse, by trying to drive or stay out all night to avoid having their parents see them in that state.
Reba has always been brilliant when it comes to songs that really hit hard emotionally and tell a story people can relate to. Martina McBride is the same. I have always admired their willingness to use their music to draw attention to serious topics.

I understand all too well. My husband passed in 2020 after his 6th stroke... I've been through that moment . Sitting in his room holding his hand as they shut off the ventilator.. trelling him it was ok to go, that I loved him, I'd be ok and I'd see him again.... this was 19 days before our 20th anniversary. He had just turned 50. RIP Marcus... to my surf bum... from your farmers' daughter. I was your angel... now you're mine.

I lost my oldest brother in 2011 to lung cancer. In June of 2013 we lost my youngest brother of the bunch to septic shock. He had a mass behind the pneumonia in his lung we didn't know he also had lung cancer. 98 days later we laid my mom to rest who had a rare lung cancer but I feel she didn't die of the cancer she died of a broken heart. She had nursed her oldest son through the chemo and radiation and then the shock of her baby boy dying was just too much for her. Everytime I hear this song I remember the long walk down the hospital hallway. It never gets easier.

I hadn't heard this song before...kinda wish I hadn't. I'm "her"...57 and dying and no hair. No kids, no family and nobody to hold my hand...it's not right of me to be jealous especially because of a music video but I am. This song hits hard. I doubt that I will ever listen to it again but thanks for doing the reaction. Reba is my favorite singer...I think I was trying to hang on and somehow I missed her releasing it. My dad died 13 years ago...I will go through what he went through...not a pleasant thought.

I was about 4 when this song came out and I never understood what it meant. I'm 25 now and the lyrics are so relatable to me because I lost my best friend from childhood cancer 8 years ago. He was only 15 and I've known him since the 3rd grade. What do you say when you find out your best friend is diagnosed with a rare cancer and only has 6 months to live? What do you say when you get a phone call from your best friend's father saying the cancer has spread and there's nothing the doctors can do? What do you say when you get another phone call saying he's gone forever???!!! There's nothing I could say and it still hurts me so bad! I miss him so fucking much and I would do ANYTHING to have him back!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
