Wait if they put a v6 in it then is it really still a GT? And if it is can I twin turbo my 2014 3.7 and call it a ford gt?
Does your 2014 3.7 do 216 mi/h? Did it win its class at Le Mans last year? Does it have carbon wheels and titanium lug nuts and titanium exhaust and carbon bodywork?
A car is more than the engine by itself.
@@pshep138 No but the duratec v6 definitely has the potential to with a twin turbo setup, the design of the new ford gt motors are actually partially inspired by the duratec motors. But i agree with what you said other than the motors capability. I didn't mean to say ford just GT, A built duratec v6 with a single turbo can sit around 600hp+ safely with long travel distance reliability and capable of high speeds by definition would be considered a Gran Tourer. I was ripping on ford for taking the v8s out of Ford GTs entirely, i understand why they went with the v6 for racing but they should've also continued their work on the v8s they have so much more potential in terms of top speed I hope they are working on it still as a side project. The Ford GT represented the power of v8 American muscle and it still does.
The GT would've been an objectively worse engine with a V8, and the development costs would've been insane. The V6 is lighter, smaller, and more economical - all things you want when you're endurance racing.
I don't think a V8 would make any difference for top speed...? I don't understand that remark.

Really wish they would’ve dropped a v8 in this thing. Imagine how insane that would be 😂. Still a sick car tho
It'd probably be worse in every way, except for the sound. The V6 was necessary not only for packaging, but also for fuel consumption while endurance racing, which is what the car was built to do.
@@pshep138 lol yea ik. I’m just imagining the type of power that thing would have with it being so light and aerodynamic.
If you were to drive one you would not miss the other two cylinders!
Not at all. I’ve driven a 2017 and a 2021 and didn’t once think “Wow this really need a V8.”

My question is this - who would spend $500,000 on this car when it gets easily humiliated by a McLaren 720 S for $330,000?
This car is far more expensive than $500,000. It’s also much rarer, much more exclusive, and much more special than a 720S.
Having driven both cars, I’d rather have this even if a 720S is faster.
