I used my Burano on a real estate shoot last week. haha Felt a little goofy, but the ND and IBIS saved me a bunch of time on the shoot and in post. This was a primary driver in my justification for the spend. Time saved = $$$. @@CrankyCameraman
14:53 facts. This is why try to ise a monopod and/or tripod as much as possible regardless what rig im using. I save the gliding and movine shots for thr young bucks.
I hope Sony see this, it's so good to see actual real-world use of the camera, as that seems to be missing from most of the videos out there. Will you sell one of your FX9 cameras? Also, which portabrace bag are you using?
I reviewed the wedding and agency footage, outside, high levels of ND, black shirts and black suits. Nothing jumps out to me as problematic for IR. Send me an email and I can share a few screengrabs, just can't post them to public. I might sell one FX9, not sure. "PortaBrace Carry-On Camcorder Case," it's one of the older models for ENG cameras. It's a little too big, but I have owned it for years, as a transport option for an assembled camera package. Thanks
Hey great video, nice to see you work with the burano. Btw did you notice if that other guy was running lens support with his fx6 with the 28-134 F4 ? I'm going to be running that setup next week and was wondering if the e mount could handle that weight without it.
I didn't notice. But you should be fine, even though there is no locking ring on the FX6. I run the 28-135mm on my FX3 without support (handheld) and I'm not gentle on gear.
Yes, I've been thinking about this topic for a while. I would like to interview my insurance broker, hit the common freelance questions and keep it to less than 15 min. Thanks.
Mexico assignment would have been a fun one, would have clocked more time eating vs on set. But unfortunately the job had not yet confirmed and I accepted a local 3 day assignment instead.
I feel Sony has taken the time to get to know the market out there. In this video it seems that have so many options. At the end of the day you are just choosing whatever fits your workflow desire is for the day, This, you would agree, has not always been the case. In fact, not sure if there is another brand that have so many cameras to choose from with basically the same features. I mean, how old is the FX9?
So XAVC I is only in s35 crop ? I just love the fx9 ,6k, in camera down sampling to 4K , and the convenience of the crop modes as digital ext ,still in 4K (s35 anyway ) ,to me thats a real Goldilocks combo , and the rez is pretty much the same as a straight 6K recording after debayer , but way smaller files . Such a shame if the fx9 bites the dust and these settings disappear , like tears in the rain.
Starting at the bottom, working for free, then $125 days, slowly climbing the ladder, focus on long term value over charging the maximum. Good luck to you, there is financial reward to those that put in the time.
I have not. Just reviewed the footage from the wedding and agency shoot. Black suits, black shirts, outside in the sun, near max ND, nothing jumps out as problematic. Possibly an issue when shooting multiple cameras and some are FX series. But the wedding day was FX9 and Burano and I don't see a jarring difference in blacks or skin tone. If the internet didn't tell me it was an issue I would not be aware.
@@CrankyCameraman Good to know. It seems the FX9's IR cut filter is superior *(according to tests from CVP and a few others) and Burano's suffers from red/pink shift in the blacks. The rolling shutter may also leave something to be desired for the price point, but it does improve on the 22ms of the fx9 apparently, landing at about 15-17ms depending on the recording mode. I've been happy with my c300 at 15ms so who knows. But with the amazing autofocus, built in XLR, it's just a great overall ergonomic build.
I've got a couple of FX9s so had an extra FX9 handle still boxed up when the Burano arrived. I think this is the way to go. I haven't used my Sony wireless lav setup on it yet, but I'd be able to, and surprisingly found myself using the record button on the FX9 handle a lot the other day.
I have a hard time seeing the advantage of Burano compared to FX6 FX9 FX3 especially for the price. Yes it does some different stuff, but it’s quirky and not really necessary. I’d rather have a Venice if I was going for those kinds of things.
I like the sliding Arri shoulder pad, but concerned it adds too much vertical height. Planning to sell the Amira and maybe one FX9. The Canon compact zooms are excellent lenses, priced right for the owner op too. Thanks
Good point about optimal image quality being one piece of the puzzle of client servicing.
You’re using a Burano for a Wedding, wow you are a legend😂😂
I was hoping to shoot some tv news too maybe be the first to use a Burano for live TV. Hahah.
@@CrankyCameraman I mean, it'd be a pretty damn good looking live shot. LOL.

Really like to watch these type of raw videos, would watch more of these of you prepping for shoots.
Thanks, the prep videos are the easiest to make, I"ll focus a bit more on it.
Love the Burano videos, and all your content overall. More burano please, mine arrives next week. :)
Thanks. Hopefully mine is right after yours. Enjoy, it's a nice "little" camera.
This was a great example of the burano
I just picked up a used 28-135 for events with my FX3 until I get a FX6 and it’ll probably live on it then. Pairs perfectly imo
It's a good lens for what it does... Past few years I use it 50-75% of the time and that is with over $125,000 in lenses sitting on the shelf.

Just curious if you could do a video discussing insurance for your gear, would love to hear your knowledge on the subject. Thank you

Cool to see the comparison between fx9… What were you using the Bluetooth earphones for? Any delay ?
Phone calls and comms.
Another sure shot, thx!

The Sony Mk ii 24-70 2.8 would pair very well with ibis on the Burano

XAVC is available at all sensor sizes and record resolutions. But 1080 record is only available at S35 sensor area.
@@CrankyCameraman Ok thanks sir
cool stuff! looks like that camera’s a good fit for you! thx for sharing your thoughts on it :)
Great stuff, thanks. Do you find the body of the Burano plasticky - it seems to be the same coating as the fx6 ...or?( I have the fx6)
A much thicker material, I think magnesium with a durable powder coating type finish. Very industrial grade vs FX6.
@@CrankyCameraman Thanks.
what do you have playing out your blue earphones? :D you listing to music while shooting or are you on comm>

Have you tried the FX9 handle on the Burano
I have not tested. Didn’t think of it when I had the camera.

Slap a pad on the bottom of that burano and your set. Could sell one fx9 maybe to offset cost. you have a good taste in lenses.
