Dr. Vanita Rattan The Hyperpigmentation Clinic pls kindly do a video on this! As well as how to get rid of hyper pigmentation in the neck. Thank you so much
Thank you! Thank you for being so generous with your time to help those of us with darker skin tones make better choices for our skin. You are so appreciated!
THANK YOU! The title ticks all the boxes I’m skin of colour and I suffer from acne too! So this video is so helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge for skin of colour Dr Rattan💛💛
I bought the Neutrogena Dry-Touch Suncreen - broad Spectrum SPF85+ helioplex . I don’t wear make up, I usually put it on when I go out to train on evenings.
There's one cheaper option...dont go out under the sun without Big black sunglasses with UV block Wide brimmed UV hat UV umbrella (the one with silver) Loose long sleeve (not black) Loose long pants (not black) If you can afford sunscreen and money isn't an issue then zinc-bases sunscreen works best without alcohol, perfume, ethylhexyl something. ..
I wonder why Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch (Chemical) and Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Dry Touch (physical) didn't make it to the list since she had already put the hydro boost one from Neutrogena itself while she mentions the major downside that it's Spf 30 which is less than the ideal standard of Spf 50 while it's also available in at Spf 50. And not only do the ones she left out do pretty fine on the scales referred to by Dr. Vanita herself, they are also available in with at least Spf 50, they are non-comedogenic and they are way more affordable and accessible around the world. My brain is awfully confused.
Can you do a video about getting rid of constant blackheads , best peels for hyperpigmentation. I live in NYC and would love to know what I can do for hyperpigmentation and hormonal acne ! Thanks :)
I purchased neutrogena boost water gel spf. I used it once and I don’t think I can use it anymore. Such a strong smell. I could believe Dr. V has recommended it. I followed all her recommendations and I really like the products but this one 😟
I recently bought color science and I want to love it. Everyone else does but I just find it heavy, tacky, oily and it doesn't absorb. I have combination skin. I feel like my skin is suffocating. It's sad because it's so expensive. I'm not acne prone but I feel that consistent use of this will break me out
Hello Dr Rattan, Would I cause an issue to my combination skin if I used the following in this order: The ordinary buffet The ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 The ordinary granactive 5% retinoid The ordinary niacinamide 10% + 1% zinc The ordinary magnesium ascorbyl phosphate Cerave eye cream Top up with Cerave moisturiser Thank you so much for imparting your knowledge! 💖
Dipti The Ordinary recommend you don’t use more the serum in a routine, so may be best to spread them over AM and PM. Also check out www.deciemchatroom.com/the-ordinary-conflicts/ for any conflicts.
Both Colorescience Sunforgettable in Bronze and Dr V’s InZincable are no goers for me…I’ve tried them and unfortunately got a reaction…have combo skin, occasional acne…would very much like to try CoTZ Flawless Complexion sunscreen Spf 50. CoTZ is apparently an acronym for ‘Contains Only Titanium and Zinc’…so their sunscreen products are 100% mineral based…from the US, allegedly leaves no white cast for darker skin tones (according to quite a few skin-influencers)…the only issue is that it contains antioxidants…a review from Dr V on this product would be ideal…many thanks and much gratitude!!
Also could you maybe do a video on skin care for the rest of your body as well? Not just the face? Like what brands of shower gel etc. are good for you? And what would be a good routine?
I'm so happy to find your channel. I have a fair skin, however I do get hyperpigmentation easily. I spent around 5 hours continously watching most of the videos in this channel, and I'm not even bored. I have never commented on anyone's videos before, but I want you to know that you are not only helping people with darker tone as fair tones do get hyperpigmentation. I truly appreciate your efforts and wonder if you can comment on whether Pharmaceris SunBody Protect Moisturising Lotion SPF50+ 150ml is a good option or not. Thank you once again.
Skinceuticals ultra facial defense SPF 50 contains alcohol denature ...shall I use it ? As you have said in one of your video that alcohol denature is very bad for skin ???
I’m allergic to an ingredient called butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane. It’s nearly alll spf products including lip balms and foundations. I finally found a spf cream without it by Frezyderm. It’s so nice and light and velvety too
If you are a black lady please do not buy the colour science. I look worse than Casper . So annoyed after spending £30 despite struggling with money . So so annoyed not gonna lie 😡😡😡
I got the colorscience because of your recommendation. I did not get the top off powder because 65.00 for the powder and 39.00 for the lotion is way too much. To spend every few months. The lotion goes on greasy and I have had a big problem looking oily shortly after the makeup is applied. 3 hours into my day, I look super shiny.
It seems like there's no escaping thermal energy on the face! According to lab muffin, both inorganic/organic filters absorb uv and turn it into heat while Inorganic (physical) filters are only able to reflect 5%-10% of light. Do you have any thoughts on this Dr. V specifically on the validity and if the 5-10% reflection is significant?
Dr Vanita, could you review Caudalie skincare please. Thank u for the time u take in doing your research. As a skincare enthusiast, I find your reviews v informative and in depth.
I've asked about this too! Cyrille Laurent and Lab muffin have both talked about this and I'd love some clarity too specifically for skin of colour. Using tretinoin is already making my skin appear red enough due to increased blood circulation to the face lol, which is completely normal on tret. It just translates to a not so flattering appearance on brown skin than on white (with our undertones and whatnot)
I have acne prone skin, but not oily. The Skin Ceuticals sunscreen is too drying for me, but the Colorscience/ sunforgettable works well. I would love to see review of products for normal/acne prone skin. 🤗
I was going to ask the same. I've just started using Dear Klairs SPF50 sunscreen. It is a chemical sunscreen but its the best I've ever tried. So lightweight and I reapply it every 2 hours. Feels like nothing on the skin even after multiple applications.
I recently went to a dermatologist and found a black dermatologist for the first time in my life... I was so excited, however now I am disappointed because you are already sharing more explicit and specific information than she did for an in person visit. She mentioned to me for dark skin, there are specific ingredients and sun screen should always have or certainly NOT HAVE. Are you familiar with this... I was unable to write it down-as she said she would provide the information before I left, unfortunately it was never provided and I am having the hardest time getting the information from the office. Thank you so much for these videos!!!
You said to avoid antioxidants in sunscreen and said your favorite sunscreen is Colorscience Unforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50. Their website indicates that the formula is "antioxidant-rich" including Lipochroman, Vital et, Niacinamide, Infraguard - I would appreciation you clarifying your comment about avoiding antioxidants in sunscreen and why the ones in the Colorescience brand are OK, if that's what you believe. Thanks.
Hi! I questioned the same thing…however in one of her other vids she says that if the pH of the antioxidants are adjusted to that of our skin (I think its pH is between 4.7 and 5.75?) then they’re okay in sunscreens for those with oily acne prone skin….I’m not an expert so I may have misinterpreted her message… would be grateful for Dr V’s clarification on this…especially as I’m keen to try the CoTZ Flawless Complexion sunscreen Spf 50, which fits into Dr V’s criteria bar that it has a vitamin C derivative (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate) plus vitamin E.
I was about to buy the Neutrogena you recommended and good thing I checked its ingredients first on their website as it has ALCOHOL DENAT as the third ingredient, UNFORTUNATELY :(
Please review the new SUNFORGETTABLE® TOTAL PROTECTION™ SHEER MATTE SPF 30 SUNSCREEN BRUSH. It's supposed to be for oily skin and acne prone skin but I don't want to veer away from the SUNFORGETTABLE® TOTAL PROTECTION™ BRUSH-ON SHIELD SPF 50 that you've recommended.

Hi Dr V. A quick question about titanium dioxide. I purchased a brush on block powder with 15% titanium dioxide and 12% Zinc oxide. My question is, is the titanium dioxide safe to use? I've been reading that as a powder it can be unsafe and carcinogenic . The product is the brush on block sp30.
