The IDF Caterpillar D9 -nicknamed Doobi (Hebrew: דובי, for teddy bear) - is a Caterpillar D9 armored bulldozer used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Israeli armored CAT D9 was heavily modified by the Israel Defense Forces, Israeli Military Industries and Israel Aerospace Industries to increase the survivability of the bulldozer in hostile environments and enable it to withstand heavy attacks, thus making it suitable for military combat engineering use. The IDF Caterpillar D9 is operated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Combat Engineering Corps for combat engineering and counter-terrorism operations.

It’s not impervious to IED though, because that is an undetermined ordinance. Trust me, it’s not impervious. It’s armored yes, but NOTHING is impervious on the battlefield.

I was at dinner with an American police officer and and a guy in the IDF once and the police officer was telling a story of a guy he had to deal with for most of a day because he was on a roof waving a sword around and they couldn't get him to come down after he had been causing a bunch of issues. The IDF guy just looked at him funny and said 'you guys don't have a D9?' I knew what a D9 was in general but it threw me off to hear it in that context, so I asked what he meant. He showed me a picture of one of these armored D9s and said they wouldn't have put up with that for that long and would have just started tearing into his house with that thing lol

I was an equipment operator in the army in the '80's. Had to grade a stretch of field with night vision goggles to simulate repairing an airstrip in the dark. Went back in the morning to see our handy work. LOL, what a mess.

I ran D9's for years, building roads across America and fighting forest fires. Lot of power, it can knock over trees 6 feet thru at the ground with no problem. Nothing I came across in 10 years is standing now. HAHA
