- Hi, welcome to Tom and Redd Throw Hands, a comedy/drama. There's been a ton of these comics, but I wanted more from them, so I did it myself. The fact that Redd drops by just to sell crap to Tom's residents, and even stands right in the middle of the plaza to sell prizes, and Tom was nowhere to be seen, was weird. I wanted a confrontation, so here it is. In the most extreme form. Also, the voice actors did wonderfully in this, kudos to them!

Clearing up any confusion:
- This is the edited and voice acted version of my comic that I posted to my other social medias a year prior.
- The comic is on Deviantart (my name is PeepsandTubz on there), Facebook (Peepsicola), Twitter (PeepsArt, but I've moved to Peepsicola), and Newgrounds (PeepsArt).
- It took me a year to get voice actors for every character with lines and to find a suitable way of editing the comic into a video format ( I just cropped each panel myself and put it into IMovie)
- I literally asked voice actors who I've worked with before for Undertale and Deltarune stuff and held auditions, picked the closest ones and put them in the video, this took a pretty long time, especially to find an Isabelle
- I saw people freaking out about Isabelle calling Tom sweetie, and it wasn't my intention to make it romantic at all, she was just nervous and trying to de-escelate in a "mom" kinda way lol, but I get why people who ship it would be excited hearing that
That is a commendable amount of effort! I usually don't like comic dubs, but the talent you found and the effort you put into editing it made me stick around! It's very cute and well drawn and accurately characterized and, just all around satisfying. Great job!!!

In old Japanese mythology, there was a hunting dog that Japanese hunters used to hunt both Tanuki and Kitsune pretty much to extinction, so yeah, I believe they’d both respect Isabelle enough to stop fighting

Not to mention he doesn't put a deadline on his loans. As long as you paid what you were comfortably able, he was fine with it.
Not to mention basically all of your money comes from selling things to Nook's Cranny (At least in new horizons), meaning he's more than happy for you to pay him in fish and bones
i would like to add that if bells are based off of Japanese's yen(the Nintendo switch in the Abd is the exact same msrp cost of the switch in japan) then thru calculation the cost for a fully upgraded house is only around $45,000(based off of conversion rates as of April 22 2022 and is subject to change) wich while alot of mony is still a amazing price for a house of that size and the no intrest as well

Actually in New Horizons, certain fake paintings are haunted, such as the fake Mona Lisa. Which are a great compliment to the Spooky Set furniture! 👻
@@abadgurl2010 I think that was a brief thing at certain times of day or during certain in-game events, or even through RNG in previous games though here? It's on full display front and center as a main central feature of art.
Also the "Sweetie" thing. Sorry to burst your bubble, but she mostly called him that because she was scared. Of Tom. Swinging a golf club like a bat. And she's trying to talk him down softly. I also wrote her as the type to call everyone sweetie. She's not dating him, she's the mom friend. You can still ship it though, I'm not saying I disapprove. But in this storyline, it's just not a thing.

Y'know, sometimes Redd sells legit art, though. Really brings to question when he says "Either it's fraud or you stole it," which explains how he gets the legit stuff.
Kind of wish Redd got a slightly happier ending, but... sometimes moments like this happen.
Yea Tom just doesn't wanna give him any credit, let alone the time of day. He's just got a warped view of him after being hurt by all this.

I just thought the "real ones" were excellent forgeries. I was like, "dude, why not just sell these as props for movies and as placeholders for the legit thing in museums? You'd make a killing!"
That was a really great comic. It would have been funny if after calming down, Redd looks up to the painting he's destroyed and he's like "OH CRAP THIS ONE WAS THE REAL ONE !!"

Y'know, something tells me Redd didn't just come to Nook's island to steal. He seemed genuinely hurt by what happened. What happened at the end of the comic proves it. What better way to get Tom's attention then by scamming his represenative? Sure there were definlently some petty reasons behind visiting his island, but if Redd was Tom's first friend then maybe it was the same the other way around? I wish the comic ended better, like having Nook actually talk it out with him or maybe even the represenative talking to Redd after seeing what happened. Just thought I'd get tmy thoughts out there.
Yeah, though these things never resolve so close to when they blow up. It’s complicated. Redd follows Tom everywhere for all kinds of reasons; good people with good money turn up wherever he goes, so there’s survival to it; then there is the fact that he’s still bitter about Tom leaving him behind and being successful; but I think more than anything he desperately wants to be close to Tom again. Redd BOUGHT A BOAT to follow Tom, and is definitely not earning the kind of bells to really get a return on the investment. He wants to find success his way and he wants Tom to be the first to see it.
And I guess he would rather harass the one friend he did have than risk forgetting him.

I agree, I think deep down he wanted to make up and the only way he could think of getting Nook's attention was to show up and scam (not the best method); he still seems in doubt of his feelings and tries desperately to believe it was just a "in and out" job, a petty revenge job, not something with actual feelings in it..he doesn't want to admit he misses Nook and was hurt when he left.
If you're new here, this isn't just a dub of someone else's comic, this is my art, I just asked some voice actors to help me dub it. I thought it'd be boring without some voices involved. I wanted to make this fun for you guys. But anyway, this took so long to finish, please enjoy.
Edit: Also yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the VA for Tom has voiced Sans, and the VA for Redd has voiced Angel Dust. What I asked for was kinda close to that.

This is something I always wanted to see happen in the Animal Crossing fandom. Tom and Redd going at it and their past getting more depth.

For as horrible as people seem to paint tom nook... he TELLS you what's gonna happen, sure in the older games you did HAVE to, but that's because of limitations on the games not tom, we KNOW that is the case because in the newer games it's actually an option, he doesn't FORCE anything, in Horizons your character PURCHASED a ticket to the island, you can literally stay in a tent the whole time, there is no interest, no deadline, you can LITERALLY pay it off WHENEVER you want, he doesn't ask you about it, all he does is after you pay, offer to upgrade your home for the same deal with a higher price, and construction is done in UNDER A DAY.
Redd however is literally a scammer.
This comic makes red look even more like an unhinged, psychotic money leech.

Plenty of smash bros battles made the Villiagers and Isabelle into rather capable combatants. But don't let that make you think too hard. It's better off not getting physical when our characters face off against certain things despite the canon. Half the time were either being a mayor or some island rep. Don't think our slingshot marksmanship isn't going to be less then snake's or link's. Alone.... and young link is a crackshot with his slingshot

Wow... I feel bad for both of them. Redd feels like his best friend abandoned him and Tom only feels as though Redd wants payback. Its all so... Depressing.
In Japanese folklore the Tanuki and Kitsune (Fox) reaaaally don't get along so it wud make sense that they wudnt like eachother.

What the Japanese Mythology stories teaches us with the Tanuki and the kitsune, you get what you pay for and think before you buy. It's amazing how these stories teaches us valuable lessons. Always spend wisely.

The voice acting is so good! For me something seemed familiar in someones voice, it think it was redd but idk what about it makes me feel that way. But really good storyline! Definitely think it was a good idea with the voice acting! Made it much more like your there and to hear that emotion in them more!

I like the fact that redd is surprised at how Tom can pick up a tree even though they are living in a simulation, maybe they don’t know that…
If I saw them throwing hands, I probably would have brought out the axe. I wouldn't actually hurt anyone unless I had to; sometimes you just have to make a point.
That said, I would be dragging them both back to town hall and locking them in a room to talk while I kept an eye on them. I'd do what I could to convince Redd to stop his conning and earn bells legitimately, and I'd be as reasonable as possible with him, but if for some reason he's refusing to even so much as humor the thought then it's persona non grata status for him until he cleans up both his headspace and act.
When Nook sends you the "You got screwed" I was pacing the room. It was I think the Delicate Painting where I couldn't see cause of a sun glare that the flowers were purple instead of blue.

God this was amazing. I'll love to see more comics from ya centering around the Animal Crossing characters, whether that be Tom Nook & Redds or even just seeing more of Peeps interacting with the Animal Crossing characters. Peeps was adorable and you did a great job of voicing her. Also loved that tired dad and tired mom energy coming from Tom Nook and Isabella. The art was also top tier.

All the voices are perfect! And the expressions were so well done! I really love the way you draw the characters
On a side note, Dave sounds like he’d make a great Aizawa from MHA
This was very fun to watch, definitely history between characters I hadn't considered before, I'm newer to the animal crossing games so if there is actually history that these two have in the games that's a really fun thing.

I would say that I wouldn't care about the fake art, to me art is art. But the Animal Crossing team hasn't given me a good enough reason to return back to my island and quite frankly, I don't expect them to any time soon.

A thing I notice that i’ve seen nobody talk about is the different fonts in the characters’ speach bubbles. Like- Redd’s font is all droopy and kinda thick while Tom’s is more solid and sophistocated, and Issabell’s font is round and looks kinda hand-written! A very bice detail that conveys their personality’s.
Redd's silent sit down at the end really makes makes me wanna just hug the poor guy. even if i did want to see tom murder him and try to dispose of the body.

I honestly appreciate the blank background and the occasional music when it matters. It ruins most VAs to me when people just slap joyful music on the background
Not to mention how hard it is to find good background music. I scraped through tons of copyright free music and it's all the same and not what I was looking for. Had to go with ambient sounds. And even for the scene with Isabelle running, finding action music that isn't too serious and dramatic was nearly impossible.

I like to believe that the artist of the comic was randomly fishing in Animal Crossing, somehow pulled a shovel out of the river and was like, “Imma give this shovel a backstory.”
I think in all honesty the series showcases Tom's growth in just this manner. In the first game he seems like he forces the player into a house and a job they probably didn't ask for.
In New Horizons, pretty much everything is taken care of, and the player has complete freedom of how the Island is built. He also seems a lot more laid back and friendly with the other villagers.
Honestly, I sense no greed and I feel sorry for those that still say that about him even without this side of the lore. Also it definitely feels like this is more in line of how his relationship with Redd would actually pan out rather than just a disgruntled couple who casually has their falling outs.

Ok but Tom Nook was really in the wrong here. Wanting to kill someone(not to mention thinking you should go through with it) over being a scammer? There's worse crimes than that. Like murder. Which is an unreasonable thing to want to do to someone just because they make money in a not-so-fair way.
