I've seen a lot of people hating on the weight of this pack. but I think its acceptable for a pack that will last forever and won't fail in the field. it looks simple and effective and I certainly don't mind tabbing a few extra pounds with me then again I'm not into the ultralight craze that seems to be going around at the moment.i might buy the 25litre version of this pack. nice review.
Thanks Will, yes it's not ultra light but a decent weight and should last like you said forever...classic look and feel in my opinion! Definitely has its place!
Base Camp Chris look forward to seeing some more osprey reviews pal! So far I’ve purchased 3 Osprey bags because of your reviews, hope Osprey are giving you a cut 💰 lol

I just broke my zipper on my assault pack I got in the military 15 years ago. Kinda butt hurt about it. I'm going to go to a seamstress and get it fixed than I'm going to retire the pack and picking this up
Yes This pack series is not for Through Hikers all concerned about weight...even their site says Archeon MEN'S HIKING | TRAVEL...heavy duty bag should last a lifetime!
Thanks for this! I have the 45 but wanting to also get a more single-day hike backpack. I'm considering the Archeon 30 but also the Talon 36. Are you familiar with the second one? How do they compare? If not, how much do you appreciate have the type of opening that the Archeon has compared to other packs that just have a top opening?
Meh, I'm not a fan of that one, for the pack size it has the hip belt I feel should be on their smaller day packs. However, I'm sure I would like it more if you gave away your Stratos 34 now that you have this new pack. 😁
Hey Chris my 10 yr old son wants to go on backpack hunts with me I’m having a hard time finding him a pack that fits him do you know of any that would work for him thanks.
Depends on how many nights you guys expect to be out....but Osprey has most all of their packs in small/ medium OR medium/ large and some even come as small, medium and large. So you could start with a small pack and then figure out your load capacity based on a weekend trip or more extended stay. With that said there is a pack called the Ace 50 that is designed for kids...good capacity and would fit him for the next 4-5 years. Osprey ACE 38 L & 50 L KIDS' BACKPACKING (8-14 Y/O) $170.00 www.osprey.com/us/en/product/ace-50-ACE50S20_194.html
My current 30L pack is good under 1.5 pounds and I've got it for 70 bucks (it's Salomon Trailblazer). It's quite basic in terms of additional functionality, but it doesn't actually differ from what Archeon has. Heavier duty fabrics would make it... 2 pounds?.. No idea what Osprey was thinking of.
Expensive, heavy, no proper ventilation, no zipped hip belt pockets, side pockets too high. This thing is for hipsters, not hikers. You can get much better for half the price.
Hey Jabber, Yeah...it's like they went back o the Eighties and came up with back pack designs...I think they may be trying to appeal to bushcrafters...definitely not Thru- Hikers...which I'm neither..I'm a Weekender! ( 3-5 dayer )
I do climbing and mountaineering. I got rid of my old hiking era backpacks just because each time at high altitudes I was driven mad by totally empty backpacks that felt in my hand like some food and water remained in them. Which was nothing but disappointing illusion upon a hungry, frozen and tired guy, lol. Its just me, but I can't carry "havy duty" bags even in normal life since. I can't say the Acheron is bad... Not at all. I had a chance to inspect it in our local store and it was actually nice looking, solid and functional. But for me its goodness is more of a stylish accessory. Old school, indestructible, vintage fabrics... It's cool, no joke. If someone asked me for advice, i'd answer "Yes, sure, take it". But when it comes to carrying it personally... Ah, hmm... No =)
The small pockets on the waist strap are to tuck the waist straps in when not in use.

With the heavy 1880D canvas and features, this would make a nice bushcraft pack.
Yes heavy duty old school look...pack should take a beating and hold up in the bush!
This bag looks Perfect!
I totally agree that this would make a great Bushcraft Bag.
Hi T. Brad - Yes, interesting line of packs they came out with. I may review a few more.
Thanks a lot for your excellent demo!
About time Osprey made a bag suitable for bushcraft style use! Looks excellent and half the price of a Fjällräven
It's a real classic look and feel to this bag! I may review some of the others in this line.

Hi Chris. Great review! I was looking on your video list for the osprey rook 50. Couldn't find it. Do you have a review on that pack? Thanks!
I have not done the Rook yet....i'll add that for a future video.

Hi Unpaved Explorer, ( like the handle ) Thank you! More on the way! "Keep Hiking!"

The question is would you trade more weights with looking the coolest in the mountain. I probably would...

Im sure you already answered this but where are you hiking? Looks incredible!
Hi Jack, that is a small stream at the foothills east of Reno...thank s for watching. 🌲

I like this bag but not sure about the single buckle.
Hi M Sato, yes it's a very solid bag...worth a look The one buckle seems to work...but yeah I'm used to the 2 buckles on each side of the top lid..

Hey Ace, how do you get 36K subs with no vids? You are very good man!
Looks like you do have content...I'll check it out !!

I am due for a giveaway... but keeping the stratos and manta. This one is heaven and $240 you can get more for your money with Talon/ Manta!
I have the Manta 24, thanks to your review, and I love it. Keep it up sir.
You enjoy the Manta 24 I the long haul... thanks for watchingClinton.!
That’s funny I said Heaven meant heavy!😄
The concepts of backpack is like quechua backpack
Yes...they have a classic feel/ design.
Couldn’t get past the ASMR. Would love to watch your reviews when you get a mic.
Adios!

구입할수 있나요~?!
4 lbs for 30L pack, that's too heavy for me.
Hi Vincent, Yes, 4 lbs is heavy...should be just under 3 or so.

@@Frumious_JabberwockyThey have a whole line of these packs...I may research and found out what they were thinking...or get an idea!
Agreed, that’s why I won’t buy it, but it’s still a neat pack.
Hello, would this bag be acceptable for carry-on (assuming it was the S/M and was underpacked). I am conscious of the frame size.
I would check with Osprey if it was something you were seriously considering..
Sherry
Hi Sherry! "Keep Shopping!"
Great review, as always chris, but not impressed by the product
Agree... not sure why they made it @ 4 lbs/ small belt and $240. Manta / Stratos or Talon all work ...
Expensive, heavy, no proper ventilation, no zipped hip belt pockets, side pockets too high. This thing is for hipsters, not hikers. You can get much better for half the price.
Yea it's a old school bush=crafter setup. Almost a military/ tactical thing. I prefer my Atmos 65.
Can you give an example please? I would love a backpack that can fit a big guy but not break the bank.
Heavy ? Good hate these saggy flimsy packs .. sign me up for a 70 theyre copying fjallraven
Recycled backpack. Double weight and double price over a new nylon. Osprey, wake up. You're nightmaring.

Good analysis of this pack...I'm am interested in looking more at them myself. But I'm happy with mt Atmos 65/ Talon 33 and Manta 24
