    I am so glad that you posted this Juniper video! I need more of these. I don't have many in my yard for 20 years but desire the process. I am going to dig up some azalea from the yard later this year though.

    I really like that tree has good character. Looking forward to see the ramification in the future. What shape of bonsai pot would be best suited for that tree? Is it better to use round pots or rectangle

    I’m right there with ya. Make lemonade out of lemons. I learned that from my mother. I have a naturally beautiful juniper. I’m afraid to do the first trimming. I can’t see a design for it yet.

    Should turn into a very nice Juniper, thank for sharing. A question on my mind which you answered saying you plant replacements when you remove a Juniper to work on which is the right thing to do so the supply over time will always be there. Once again Milton for your videos.

    Very intrigued by your videos about creating bonsai from garden trees. I've got quite some young (loaf) garden trees that I would like to test this on too, but I was wondering how much cutting/pruning you need to do when it's still in the garden (in ground or in a big pot). Do you want to let it grow quite big first (over 1m) or consistently cut back drasticly (not sure if this will properly thicken the trunk)?

    • @bonsaiheirloom
      @bonsaiheirloom  7 месяцев назад +1

      Your general idea is right! Growing in the ground is the thing to do, to thicken quickly…And cut back to (a) create turns (b) taper, and c) induces lower branches to develop. Keep up the good work.

    Hi mr Chang,can I ask you a question,I have taken a air layer from a blood good acer.the trunk of the air layer is three and half inches in diameter.it is growing very well in a pot.what I would like to know is .the tree I took the acer from is 25 years old so how old is my air layer the top being 25 years old and the roots a few months.

    Milton, Does it matter whether your cut new growth or older growth on your tree? As I mentioned before I've a maple I'm growing for bonsai and it's growing leaves like crazy! Does it matter if I keep some new leaves/branches and cut some older ones and viceversa?
    I'd like to think it doesn't matter but you would definitely know something that I don't! Thank you! :)

      Mindful of the obejctives:
      Cut to shape:
      Thicken the truck and have taper
      Ramification to show health and growht,
      My recommendation is to first cut severely to shape. The ncut every three months or so for the branches to grow to strength the tree.
      Sound about right?
      Do not apply what I said blindly...but get behind what I said to suit.
      OK?
