I agree completely, I’ve lived all over Vermont and this is skewed to make people move here, which we don’t need. Do you wonder why our crime rates are so low (but are on the rise)? It also has a great restaurant scene, historic feel, and by FAR the most ethnic and racial diversity in the State. If you're looking for a small-town with a nice village, Middlebury/Vergennes area is great as is the Montpelier/Waterbury area. Looking for the Lake life? Colchester is a nice suburb along the lake, but is more pricey. The hidden gem in my opinion are the Lake Champlain Islands - flat, bikeable, tons of lake access, only has locally-owned businesses, and has a friendly neighborly environment. Manchester and Brattleboro are some nice towns in Southern Vermont with village feels and I agree that Norwich is nice as well. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded home in the woods away from everything, your best bet is what we call the Northeast Kingdom. It's eerily quiet and has some beautiful scenery. But it really is quite far from everything (so it's perfect if that's what you're looking for!)

Chittenden County is not really Vermont, it is anywhere USA,, , you forgot so many other places to live, Manchester, Brattleboro,, Rutland, White River, Northeast Kingdom, and on and on, frankly, the real Vermont, a very biased video
This list was not put together by someone familiar with Vermont as she mispronounces 2 very common words: Chittenden for Vermont's largest county and Adirondack for the NY mountain range. There are no affordable rentals in Vermont and her housing prices seem low. If seriously considering a move, call a local realtor.
Lookin to move to Vermont within a year or so.. I like being in the woods but not too far out.. I’d like to be somewhat close to a hospital. I have kids so also looking into a great school district.. Can anyone in this comment section give me some guidance? Thank you..
You got South Burlington completely wrong. Everything you said about South Burlington and its amenities along with every video you showed was of downtown Burlington. South Burlington is a suburb that looks like any other American suburb. Burlington is a beautiful, walkable city that is reminiscent of Asheville, NC and Charlottesville, VA, but with a gorgeous lake and mountain view.
I noticed that most of the photos you called S. Burlington are NOT!! They are Burlington! I would think someone promoting Vt. should live here so you know what you are talking about. Also rents are much higher than quoted!
Living in Vermont is very expensive. Taxes are high. Winter is llloooooonnnnnggggg. It's quaint and beautiful, though. I suggest a visit and return home.
Wow this is such a false image of Vermont. Most of these towns are in like the same place, within 20 minutes of each other… Winter is harsh. Living is expensive. Vermont is amazing but it isn’t for everyone and this video is like false advertising almost. Do better research.
Ok, after living 50+ years in Vermont, I cannot tell you how inaccurate they have been in talking about or showing the area. I spent a lot of time in So. Burlington and my sister still does. I was amazed that when you got to So. Burlington there was not one single scene that was So. Burlington. You showed Burlington and as far as all that lumber stuff is concerned... I have no clue where that is located, but it is not So. Burlington. All the water scenes were either Burlington or Shelburne. Anyone going there looking for the place would certainly not recognise it based on the description or pictures you were showing. Also it does not have a booming economy as far as job selections or rate of pay. Most of the low unemployment rate is due to minimum wage jobs. There once were many high paying jobs in technology (i.e. IBM and Digital and more) but most have left the area because Vermont is not business friendly. It is strictly a place were wealthy people move to and not a place where they go to if becoming wealthy is on their mind. That is, of course, unless your name is Ben or Jerry! My whole family had to relocate to NC to have a living wage and a higher standard of living. Vermont is a pretty state though when it isn't covered in snow.
Anne you view is a little off! You only look at the top of the State! I think you need to look at all the other areas and see what is really happening! The poverty, section 8 housing and the drug problem!
The person making this video certainly didn't do much exploring in Vermont. Most all of these places are bedroom communities of Burlington and I don't agree with all the facts given. For instance, I find it hard to believe the median income in Jericho is higher than Shelburne. I've lived in Middlebury my entire life, and I'm not saying these places listed aren't great places to live, I'm just saying this video didn't do the rest of the state justice.
This video is hilarious. You cannot buy a decent home in any of these towns for less than $450k and renting anything decent that is larger than a 1 bedroom is going to be $2k a month with nothing included. Also, Norwich is the only town you listed that isn’t over developed. Chittenden County is so much different than the rest of the state and most of these towns are all next to each other in Chittenden County. Over 25% of the entire population of the state lives in Chittenden County. There are only 11 towns/cities in Vermont with over 10k people and 7 of them are in Chittenden county. If you want to live in real Vermont move to a small town with a population of less than 3k.
Jericho and South Burlington over Woodstock, Stowe, or Waterbury? Probably never been to Vermont smh, those places are pretty much Anytown USA. And no Northeast Kingdom?? That area has had issues with addiction over the years... But alas it's one of the most unique and friendly in the state. And that comment about the weather??? If 100"+ of snowfall and being cloudier than Seattle for most of the year is your idea of good weather... You might wanna get yourself checked out😂

Apparently, someone with no clue produced this video. Housing costs are not remotely what she says it is. For example, Shelburne houses for sale right now, there is one page of listings and houses are in excess of a million with the high over 8 million. These people are ignorant virtue signaling that would file sexual assault charges against school children for using the wrong pronoun. Vermont has sunken to a new low.
This propaganda about Vermont is exhausting. Nice is relative and believe me there is much not to like about living in Vermont. Many people who move here leave because it is limiting and the harsh winters. The community interests center around yoga, composting, and virtue signaling. This extremely liberal, socialist state oppresses free speech. These Prices are Incredible! In Charleston, Sc most rentals are 1800-2400.00 plus! I would love to live in Vermont
Don't buy into these videos as it is not cheap to rent in Vermont et al
.??? Vermont is top 3 cost of living in US
Hate to say it, the prices are actually really similar in VT. Might be lower in really rural parts.
@@josephschaffer2716 vermont IS rural... if youre talking pill head country, ya, might be a tad less. but still off charts compared to ocean front FL property... this place sucks in every way..
Home and rental prives are way off. Taxes are astronomical. Between housing, food, and taxes, VT is among the most expensive places to live in the US.
0:24. “It has nice weather all year long.” 😅 You’ve obviously never been to Vermont (in the winter).
I only visit Vermont in January. I love it. Granted I don’t have to go to work in it. Even so I would trade sweltering hot Alabama summers for cold Vermont winters any day of the week.
Ah, mud season!
If you're poor, move where there is the most resources... Foodboxs, shelters, assistance, so on. So the bigger cities are more likely.. I'd love to move to Burlington, or the capital.
So many errors.
7:39? Not even filmed in vermont. Among other clips.
Please, future Vermonters, do your own research before moving here. Vermont is lovely, but half of this video can barely pass for telling the truth.
Chittenden County is not really Vermont, it is anywhere USA,, , you forgot so many other places to live, Manchester, Brattleboro,, Rutland, White River, Northeast Kingdom, and on and on, frankly, the real Vermont, a very biased video
MOAR!
It's either expensive and near a bunch of people or also expensive in the middle of nowhere
I'll match how of these an rise u newport center love it out here
I lived in Newport 40 years ago on Prospect Street.
Nice weather all year long?
This list was not put together by someone familiar with Vermont as she mispronounces 2 very common words: Chittenden for Vermont's largest county and Adirondack for the NY mountain range. There are no affordable rentals in Vermont and her housing prices seem low. If seriously considering a move, call a local realtor.
Nice Video
The biggest problem I see wrong with Vermont is property taxes are very high!
@@bradleyvanzile1111 it's true. High taxes and lots of regulations. But a lovely place to visit!
How was Middlebury not on this list but Jericho was???? Unbelievable
7:37 -- that does NOT look like any place in VT.
Anna there work permit visa
It’s a kinder gentler state then other New England states.
I doubt the persons reading the commentary has ever been here.
Vermont is a pretty state though when it isn't covered in snow.
if you have a lot of money then VERMONT is a great place to live
Anne you view is a little off! You only look at the top of the State! I think you need to look at all the other areas and see what is really happening! The poverty, section 8 housing and the drug problem!
And get all that wrong, too? Lol
You skipped Stowe
Skipped anywhere outside Chittenden County.
You don't want to move to Vermont believe taxes are high food prices are out of control and the infrastructure is to the point if dangerous.
I’m from Montpelier and the way she said Montpelier LMAO. Also the way she said chittenden lol, it’s pronounced: chitt-nen.
good thing she did not go to Charlotte. she really has zero feel for Vermont, sad
Pronunciations for place names are whatever the people say it is.
Yes, when I visit many towns, I ask local residents how they pronounce the name.

I live in VT. The weather sucks most of the year. Long winter. Short summer. They do not seem to know what paved roads or bike trails are. There are those but a lot of dirt roads that should be paved. There is a lack of good cell service in areas including where I live. Fortunately my WiFi is good as long as the power does not go out. And there are way too many liberals here.
Do you know the 14 counties in Vermont?I bet you don't know them at all
This video is so misleading
Missing good time at UVM
I can't tell you how many small business died because if this covid bullshit, and how much of a struggle it has been for the average family. I grew up in that state, it will always be my home, but to those looking: move on, don't live there. Retire there, you'll have better luck
The 7 best places in Vermont are all located in other states.
What does it mean when she said. "The entire coummunity is bonded?"
"and here's Burlington!" .....wastes time showing us lumber and what looks strikingly like Switzerland instead of Vermont.
yeah where is that?
This video maker stole footage, ive seen this footage on a vermont real estate youtube channel
😍
Wow, a minute in and already she's wrong about everything that isn't scenery related
Blessedly, the very best places, where we live, are NOT listed (heh heh). And most of us make way less than the folks in Jericho. The state in general does try harder than most.
Apparently, someone with no clue produced this video. Housing costs are not remotely what she says it is. For example, Shelburne houses for sale right now, there is one page of listings and houses are in excess of a million with the high over 8 million. Furthermore, none of the housing prices are no where near what she says they are...expect at least double. She doesn't mention the extremely high taxes either. FYI, places to rent are almost impossible to find. Want to store your belongings while you look for a home, better go to another state near Vermont.
Bro sb is literally a worst version of burlington
"...it has nice weather all year long..." Really?
Low unemployment because everyone needs 3 jobs just to scrape by. And they just added a new tax!
Not a good place to retire, taxes and fees on everything! I visit friends here often, it is beautiful, but I wouldn't live here!
Is there any black people live in one of these town in vermont state?
Why yes there are, plus Hispanic, Asian and women too. Although, the state is predominantly white Caucasian 90percent.
As a enslaved Canadian to our communist social welfare liberal government Vermont seems to be a great place to consider however this vid is misleading when compared to other vids on Vermont! Any ideas on who's telling the truth?
Um, there's a housing shortage in VT, to the extent that businesses are creating workforce housing. Suburbs? Norwich town government is currently a mess. I'm glad I don't live there.
" offers nice weather all year long"
... You are joking, right!
Clueless ...
Lol....highly educated? People drive around wearing a mask in their cars even if they are alone.
too funny, but they do that all over, I am in Ecuador ,, very common here, and we are 90% vaccinated, I ditched the mask a few months ago, only where required indoors like supermarkets
No hate, but you never know if they just got into the car and forgot to remove it. I'm sorry, but as long as it's not hurting anyone else, I don't see what is wrong with it. Have a nice day.
Your username proves that you’re not highly educated, so mind your own
Lol
These people are ignorant virtue signaling that would file sexual assault charges against school children for using the wrong pronoun. Vermont has sunken to a new low.
Hahahaha you lost me at nice weather all year long.
The school system has filed sexual assault charges against school children who fail to use correct pronouns and everyone who is not a democratic/socialist is labeled a hater and racist by default. With that being said, the forests are lovely.
Would you prefer a red/fascist state such as Mississippi, Alabama or Louisiana? You know, the Confederacy. How about Texas where you can make good money accusing Taxi drivers of offering abortion rides?
I'm guessing you'll now tell me how Bernie Sanders single-handedly ruined Vermont.
@@douglasdea637 This is the 21st century. There is no more Confederacy. Get your facts straight. You are a perfect example of what I do not like about Vermont. My only question is, "Do you actually think young children should be charged with sexual harassment for not using another child's correct pronouns?" If you do, then Vermont is a perfect place for you.
@@CJ-gv6bq They were states of the Confederacy, kid. And the way conservatives love it so much and are talking about a second Civil War (you lost the first, don't know why you want a second try) it largely still is.
Got a citation for that charge? I tired googling your crazy story and couldn't find one.
And do you think taxi drivers should be fined $10,000 for delivering a person to a building? Well, yes, of course you do. Do you think teenagers should buy military hardware? Yes, you do. Do you think society should ban the teaching of history and arrest teachers for teaching it? Yes, you do. That is what conservatives want for America.
@@douglasdea637 I have no idea what you are referencing. You still never answered my question. I know of no conservative that wants a civil war. Most concervatives I know are kind, older people, who are incapable of being cruel or harming anyone. You are consuming way to much corporate media and it is eating away at your a ability to think critically. So, do think children should be charged with sexual assault for not using the correct pronouns? This is a very simple question and has no bearing on your political affiliation.
Your anti southern Vermont bias is well evident.
Don't believe it folks!
Dont know who did research on this vid. You will need lots of money to pay for everything. Businesses are closing due to peeps not wanting to work at all or seniors retired early. The voice of this lady is irritating. Its boring in Vermont...no people and no opportunities. Drinking alcohol is a big fav here. Dont go to Burlington...people dying weekly. I live in Shelburne. High prices here. Grocery stores are north in S Burlington for better prices. Fancy restaurants closing. Montpelier is home to weirdos and Goddard College down the road. Dirty city. Run down. Williston is all shopping .... about the only place with big box stores. Burlington is setting up a pod city for homeless at the head of Church St. If you love meadows and green grass its all for you. Vermont is not a friendly state.
😂😂😂 I laugh at these people that make these videos and think they know what Vermont's like.. because they see it on a piece of paper..
A picture of this you married the woman in this case Vermont.
Tell her everything's fine for the first year.. then it comes to the divorce.. high taxes.. and that's just the beginning mental stress of the divorce.
Think of the worst thing that could happen and it's probably already happened in Vermont.

Clearly written by someone who never lived in VT and I grew up right next to Jericho, the first mention. It used to be a good state until people from MA, CT, NYC etc., out populated locals and utterly destroyed the State. I also worked at Mills Riverside Park at the store (now a Jollys) and the campground. Went in the Army, came back for some of the most expensive tuition in the State.
