Geddy's bass runs in this song are (if I dare say) my favorite on any Rush song. The lyrics for me seem to reflect Neils life. I love this song so much.

before I even listen to your reaction, This song oozes 40 years of rush. Became one of my favorites instantly the first time I heard it.

Can you imagine the reaction if they had played this at their Rock 'n Roll HoF induction? An introduction something along the lines of, "Here's a song from our new album that we're currently touring on. Take notes, kids."

Name any other artists that have written, played and performed such a MONSTER track in their late 50s'. These guys did not ride off into the sunset.
They proved to all of us that they have more talent and ability than most bands can barely summon for a song or 2, even if at all.
    RIP Professor

I literally cried when I heard this song live. There is just so much energy, volume….one of their best ever. The live version almost pales this version. That guitar solo is “By- Tor” 30 years on and the tribute to “Bastille Day” in the beginning just shows such a confidence in what and who they were. Simply remarkable.

Hi John, the lyrics seem so much more poinient since Neil's passing. What a track! 3 over talented guys approaching their 60's with this album. Awesome. RIP Neil. Sorely missed

THIS record is Rush's real concept record. 2112 is an album side. I will take this record over 2112 all day long. No offense to the legendary 2112. lol What a way to end a long career on. Especially the last track called The Garden.

The first time I heard this song I thought it must have been a lost track from the 70’s. This is an amazing song that sums up everything that makes Rush so special.🔥🎧

Another song from Clockwork Angels that absolutely ripped on the R40 tour. So glad they played it. John, you might want to react to one or more of the live versions you can find on RUclips.

One word: HEAVY! Rush on their last studio album successfully incorporated ALL of the best elements from ALL of their previous works.❤🤘🖖✌️🎸🎹🥁🎸🎤🥇🇨🇦🎼🌎👌👍🤯
P.S. AND toured it AND pulled it off PERFECTLY as they had done from day one to the end.🤯😳❤️🎻😢

John, do yourself a favour, for your own edification, "off-air" and in the privacy of your sanctum, fire up a bowl or 2 and check out this piece with images by "Still Kickin'"....
    ...you'll thank me later.

Influenced by one of Neil’s drum teachers, Freddie Gruber. In his last before dying he was stories of 30’s and 40’s etc. Smiling laughing. Making everyone else laugh. He was the one who said given the chance, I would do it all again. As opposed to Neil who never wanted to be twenty again. He was all about what I can do today and tomorrow and the next.
But it stuck with Neil, and he wanted to honor his teacher and friend. So, here ya go.

This song was originally an instrumental, and was really meant to be a tour-de-force showcasing their skills and talents. Neil had written the semi-autobiographical lyrics about being in Rush, and Geddy found a place to use them.

At some stage you have to do the live Clockwork Angels tour version of this song John. Neil has an extended drum solo and Alex shreds the house down. Recommended!

Agreed, one of their best songs. But, it is important to know that these lyrics are not reflective of Neil’s feelings about his own career. He said in several interviews, “adventures suck for those who are in them.” He never wished to relive the hard times.

This is a total banger from them! It kicks in and doesn't let up for over 7 minutes. This song totally rocks and is a great finale to their career! As part of the main story, it chronicles a phase in the protagonist's life where he's looking back at his life. Things are difficult, he's going through some dark days and looking back and reflecting on everything and realizing that he'd go through it all again if he could.
