Not many bands can say they produced one of their finest albums almost 40 years into their career. No-one could ever accuse them of just treading water & living off past glories & nostalgia for their old songs. A truly unique band.
And that’s how Rush went out - with a BANG! This song is off their last album from 2012. That sound is a culmination of nearly 40 years together. At this point, they were listening to bands that had grown up listening to them! If you want a few more hard hitters from late-era Rush, I’d suggest One Little Victory, Far Cry, or Peaceable Kingdom. Cheers!
@@NASA-stole-our-money I know! Such an underrated song! I don’t see many reactors checking that one out. I love the palette of guitar tones Alex used on the later albums.
Another great one from Vapor Trails is Secret Touch. Very autobiographical song about finding love again after losing his wife and daughter. A secret touch on the heart……finding great love again with Carrie Nuttall. There are so many awesome RUSH songs. He should start with Finding My Way and ending with The Garden.
This sounds like they where back in the 75-77 era but with a modern production ! Some fans especially of the mid eighties era might be lost here , but this is vintage RUSH .
This was Rush's last album and yes they went out with a bang!! It is actually a full concept album with a steampunk theme. I love the whole album but the song I am suggesting off this album is Caravan from the Time Machine Tour live in Cleveland. It has become one of my favs along with Headlong flight. Rush morphed many times through their long career and that is one of things that made them interesting. They started out as a heavy rock band before they became more Prog Rock. Early songs like Anthem and Bastille Day are examples. They came full circle. Geddy's voice changed through the years and he is in his late 50's here so yes his voice is a little lower. Other songs besides Caravan Driven, Far Cry, One Little Victory, Peaceable Kingdom. Cheers
Lol, I had the same list for him in another comment, except I left Driven off. How could I do that, lol?!?! I was so happy when Test for Echo came out. It was the start of their final evolution, and I loved the sound of it. Great minds think alike, lol.
You have to do Caravan off this same record. Another prog rock masterpiece I like just as well as Headlong Flight. Even more catchy and rocks just as hard.
Hahaha. Love the reaction! This album is a masterpiece. This song I would still consider pretty progressive. This is part of Rush's only complete concept album.
If you liked this style of Rush, I'm sure you would like "One little Victory" live in Brazil (same concert as the live YYZ song) ruclips.net/video/W3XivHFg9WM/видео.html
Review Rush song Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left in Montreal. Also Natural Science live at Molson Amphitheater in Toronto Canada. Enjoy the ride. Luv your reactions.
Heh metal junkie. Glad you enjoyed this banger by my favourite band. If you want more heavy Rush suggestions would recommend Earthshine or Working Man.
Try Anthem next since you are into metal , This song was covered also by Les Claypool, Danny Cary from Tool , Bill Kellinher , Claudio Sanchez ,.Also since you mention Rock. A classic is Working man live in Cleveland see how three guys in their fifties end a three hour concert , They go from mellow to up tempo to crazy , The guitar player rips it ,
You could step back and hit a couple from 1st album & work way up the scale so speak. Guitar killer, "What Your Doing", & bluesy "Take a Friend". Then, By Tor & Snow Dog "In The End(live)" Then, "Bastile Day" - real rough rocker, abt French Revolution, go figure. Ect ect, or jump around a bit. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy...Peace
@@carlgibbons5777 stop crying Carl. When there are so many other overlooked songs that are better, yet the worst from Rush keep getting reacted to because ignorant Rush fans like you recommend them, I will provide truthful feedback.
Moving Pictures was my #1...no more, Clockwork Angels took that spot. Even Geddy Lee said in an interview that this was a culmination of their best work. Every song is good like on Moving Pictures.

The thing you have to understand about Rush, even when they are not being prog, they are being prog. They are just so good at it you don't notice.
That bass line while singing... mind blown!
Of course it was……..it was Geddy Lee!!

@@matthewhoag2609 Too funny! Yes, I love their later work as well. I just thought of another one. Between the Wheels. LOL
Check out “The Anarchist”, “Between Sun & Moon” and “Dreamline”
Clockwork Angels, the Anarchist, BU2B
Carnies and BU2B from the same album are also edgy. Should be right up your alley.
