My favourite and most sadest part was when Cortana touched John, I cried a little as she faded away and you could hear the pain in his voice. But she will return, why else would Chief go AWOL? And I've got a feeling we're going to see her become human as she is made from human tissue so she's "Organic data" just like Prometheans and can be turned in to a human form from the composer as that's what it's purpose was in the first place.
It would be good if she came back as a human but it wouldn't be the same as having an AI companion also I'm with you on the saddest moment thing that was a really sad moment
NuclearFusion Gaming Halo 4 was about the return of the Forerunners and Chief's purpose to stop Ur Didact from his revenge on Humanity. Cortana's dying through out the game pulled heart strings but with information we have it determines that brining Cortana back is possible. For example... Halsey- Cortana said if they find Halsey then Cortana could be saved from rampancy but since Halsey defected to the Storm Covies, that'll be a major plot point and hardship for Chief as Halsey was extremely important figure in his life. Composer- If Cortana was some how retrievable then a Composer could turn her in to Human just as the Composer was meant to turn human or anything that was sentient in to Organic data and back but Ur Didact used that for his army. I just can't think of a way for Cortana to be found... what other reason would Chief go AWOL? Cortana was his humanity and when she "died" he was given some humanity.
lets face it, 343 did a good job because nobody really loved cortana that much untill halo4. even though halo 4 killed of cortana, but it gave more charterer development between her and john than all 3 of the games combined. in halo 1-3 the duo were always shown as tough as nails, super smart and strong almost god like and is really hard to worry about them since they felt invincible. but in halo 4 even the emotionless machine like spartan shows weakness , so i think halo 4s story is one of the most well developed, making it one of my favorite halos alongside halo 2.
if they make a really fcking awesome story and kill off the master chief i wouldn't be mad at all, i will only be mad if they kept milking the same exact story for money (looking at cod) halo 4 really shows that 343 has the fcking balls to make a epic story, so for all the fan boys saying 343 is bad and stuff do you guys really like the idea for just the same content every year with slightly better graphics?
Heck, this was the first time we saw any character out of John and Halo 5+the prologue and final cutscenes of H2 Anniversary seem to say that Chief has gone rogue just to deperately find a way to revive Cortana.
Makes me glad 343 has greater control over Halo's story line especially considering the fact that Bungie isn't really as bright when it comes to story telling. I've watch reviews of Destiny having a really boring or poorly written story with a lot of plot holes.
After watching so many of HaloFollower's vids I'm convinced that his bizarre syntax and mispronunciations are deliberate. Maybe the early ones were accidental, but now it's really just a hallmark of his style

When the Chief gets Cortana back at the end of Halo 3. That Halo felt oddly lonely up until that point you without Cortana constantly chattering. Then in Halo 4 when you have her back even though she's kinda going off the deep end it's still comforting having her there, but then you think she dies at the end and that sucked.

( GOD I HATE THAT TWIT) Second, Cortana has achieved possession over the "mantel" (or something like that) that basically makes her ruler of the galaxy, after calling chief to her, he discovers she has gathered a huge army of forerunner "guardians" these things have been causing a little trouble through the galaxy, they seem to have a bad habit of stealing every ones electricity, Cortana seems to be giving the orders, she claims her new power is to bring peace to the galaxy, the other characters aren't so sure Chief seems desperate to stop her. So... I could be a fool, but I believe Cortana has good intentions, and I believe that if she had some time she would bring the galaxy into a new order that could be stronger than even the covernet at their prime. Again and one last time she stated, and I do not quote as i do not have the line in front of me but she said something like "...Once this fighting stops, we can focus on the problems that mater, hunger..." etc. That is what's going on, this mantel thing "seems" to be able to control the forerunner forces. Again I could be wrong.

Dex Holder Green the elite that killed him just happened to be a zealot, it wasn't the exact same one. Anyways, he sacrificed himself to allow the Pillar of Autumn to escape, taking down numerous covenant in the process, which ultimately allowed the destruction of the first halo ring......pretty epic
Spoiler Halo will never be the same with cortana back as the villain. Didn't see that one coming. But I still like the twist. We all know what the ending is leading to for the saga.
You know, I'm apart of that group of Halo fans that still loves Halo and supports 343, but if there's anything that could send me into the camp that despises everything 343 stands for, it's if they don't end the story of Master Chief and Cortana with a happy ending. Cortana is the only meaningful friend Master Chief has ever made, and Cortana has likewise never made such an attachment to anyone other than Chief. One might even go as far as to say that they have feelings for one another beyond friendship, however impossible such a relationship might be. Master Chief has gone saved the galaxy on multiple occasions now. Give the guy a damned break. Let it end happily. Don't just let Cortana go crazy and/or die.
The whole thing with the Halo story is, Cortana is Chief's humanity. She has always been the thing that made him human, and not some cyborg death machine. Without her, Chief basically loses his humanity, I mean that she made HIM feel human, not just giving us the outward appearance of him being more human.

Fav moment? Every moment throughout Halo. All the excitement, pain, and every emotion you can think of. She and the Chief are perfect together and they shared so many moments and emotions together that you can't feel in real life. The Fact that Cortana maybe gone forever breaks my heart and makes me worry for John, he is lost for sure and is facing life changed emotions that may feel like threats to him. I hope he finds some evidence that he will be fine... (I started to tear up again when it showed the end of Halo 4, thanks a lot Chris)

I'd like to offer up the little speaker button on dictionary.com, it'd be a very useful tool for him. There's no excuse for flat-out mispronunciations at this severity. And if his impediment is that bad (which it isn't), then perhaps let others do voice-overs. Plenty of people with speech impediments live their dreams as newscasters, actors, and commentators, but only after taking classes and pushing through their impediment. Honestly, the only place where Cortana truly shines are in the books. She is a great character in the games, she really shines in the books, which have a lot more opportunities to show her personality, skills, and drive. The book are particularly great because the author keeps giving you chapters that demonstrates the events from her perspective, and which are fabulously written; from the very start when Cortana and the chief have their first mission, the test range on Reach. Fantastic stuff.

Halo 4 was the best Cortana had ever been and hell even Master Chief, I didn't really like Halo that much or get into the characters until Halo 4, 343 were/are way better at telling a story and adding emotional attachment to characters than bungie ever were....look at Destiny...

I love the epic story thats starts out in the first Halo trilogy, but when Halo 4 kicks off it starts going further, referencing the books and finally doing character development for the characters. I hope they don't bring back Cortana, I hope this trilogy is mostly about Master Chief/John finding out who he really is, cause he seems he's lost a lot of his humanity while being apart of the UNSC and being a spartan. Thats just me.

Halo 4 was not about Cortana dying, it was about the introduction of a new antagonist (Didact/Prometheans) and the psychological aspects of both John and Cortana. They both struggled to find their identities, though each had differing problems, and what constituted the line between man and machine. Cortana's death in Halo 4 was a harsh wake-up slap to the face for John, it showed him that he was more than the machine the UNSC made him out to be. I believe that Halo 5 has him AWOL in a quest to find a way to resurrect Cortana, a mission that finally benefits him solely and not humanity as a whole. Proving that he was not a machine bred for war, that he was still human and could have his own reason to fight.
I have always found this quote from Cortana, speaking to John in Halo 4, ever-moving: "I can give you over forty thousand reasons why I know that sun isn’t real. I know it because the emitter’s Rayleigh effect is disproportionate to its suggested size. I know because its stellar cycle is more symmetrical than that of an actual star. But for all that, I’ll never actually know if it looks real… if it feels real… before this is all over, promise me you’ll figure out which one of us is the machine." In fact, I actually wrote about the heartfelt communication between John and Cortana as an English paper portraying the impact and boundaries of passion.
One thing I liked is that atleast 343 in halo 4 handled cortana very well and honestly I like her the most in halo 4 in terms of personality, liked the face change, and design

Let the games follow the chief, there's plenty of more about the Halo universe than the games try to show. Unless you read the books and graphic novels sadly you know very very little to the Halo universe, so movies would be a great way to bring more about the Halo universe to the Halo game fans.

Doesn't anyone think how damn human Cortana seems. I mean, any other AI wouldve selected the SPARTAN II with the best status/rank/statistics(Of course Master Chief was still the latter), but Cortana said that he had one thing, Luck. No other AI wouldve said that or detect what luck was. But yet, Master Chief is the SPARTAN that has survived what other's havnt. Has survived what any human hasnt. It might just be me, but I just like how deep that goes.

I come for the lore behind halo, but i do get pissed when he pronounces stuff wrong, but i restrain my hate because i too have a speech impediment, but not as bad as Chris's, in fact, the only time i fuck up is when i am talking far too fast and my voice cannot keep up with it so it fucks up what i am trying to say.

Am I the only one who's beginning to theorize that John 117 is Halsey's son? See that she was so shocked, and somewhat relieved that he was still alive in Spartan Ops. John seemed to be Halsey's favorite, and that could be because he's her son. Though now slightly awkward, it explains why Cortana picked him, and why she said they were supposed to take care of each other. Just me having random thoughts here. :)
Old comment but nope. The Chief is not Halsey's son. In the book "The Fall of Reach" (which has been admitted as canon), you read about how Dr. Halsey and Lieutenant Keyes go to a planet in the Eridanus system to observe a kid that would later become The Chief. If i remember correctly, John was kidnapped by the ONI after Keyes and Halsey left and replaced with an imperfect clone that would later die naturally due to sickness, thus making nobody suspect that John had been kidnapped. You could however argue that he was her favorite...

Yeah, these mispronunciations aren't speech impediments. I mean, this guy could have one, but "carry-oh" (Cairo), "my-iranda" (Miranda), "reconsilization" (reconciliation).... etc, etc.... This is the result of reading too fast, not enunciating and not practicing the script beforehand. The sentence cadence betrays that, when the narrator puts unnecessary pauses in the middle of sentences, or runs multiple sentences on. He's reading aloud. Not narrating. Part of the charm of watching narrated lore videos is not only the video cuts and dramatic music, but a narrator weaving the story against the backdrop. You dull the experience when you sound like a middle schooler hastily reading his book report. Please, and this is honest criticism, practice the script. Ingrain it into your mind so you don't stumble on words that you may not pronounce often. The videos are too well produced to end up being mumbled through.
+Henrik Danielsson Everyone wants to talk fast but so few can. I cheat by reading script multiple times, then record it somewhat slowly and speed up track around 15-20%. Perfect, fast speech with proper pronounced words and if there are any mistakes they are easy to fade cut and hide when track is sped up.
My favorite moment with Cortana is when master chief finally found cortana in the crashed covenant ship taken over by the flood. You can really understand how she felt at the time when she first said " You found me." to master chief.
I don´t think John let she go so easy... Cortana is the heart from John. He loves she. Into the Books at first it comes the Mission, then the Team and he would do everything for the Team. What we saw in game was a copy of the librarian the true Liberian died when the halo rings were activated during the forerunner-flood war when she was trapped on earth so basicly the librarian is gone for good now

I feel like Chief could still try to find Halsey, even after she was abducted by the insurgent elites. But then again, Palmer was ordered to assassinate Halsey so she probably wont be able to return to get access to the right technology to bring Cortana back or, at least, a new version of Cortana.

H4's campaign was the best in the series. Halo has been missing an emotional attachment and halo 4 delivered that. The previous games made you wonder "What is going to happen in the war?" Halo 4 made you wonder "What is going to happen with Master Chiefs allegiance and Cortana's whereabouts". Can't wait for guardians.

The whole point of the Master Chief is he's an empty husk that you embody. He wasn't meant to have an identity on purpose so that you could immerse yourself and really felt that you were the Master Chief. Bungie stated this in one of their vidocs. 343 changed Halo into a completely different game, basically ruining Halo.

Makes me glad 343 has greater control over Halo's story line especially considering the fact that Bungie isn't really as bright when it comes to story telling. I've watch reviews of Destiny having a really boring or poorly written story with a lot of plot holes.

When the Chief gets Cortana back at the end of Halo 3. That Halo felt oddly lonely up until that point you without Cortana constantly chattering. Then in Halo 4 when you have her back even though she's kinda going off the deep end it's still comforting having her there, but then you think she dies at the end and that sucked.

Second, Cortana has achieved possession over the "mantel" (or something like that) that basically makes her ruler of the galaxy, after calling chief to her, he discovers she has gathered a huge army of forerunner "guardians" these things have been causing a little trouble through the galaxy, they seem to have a bad habit of stealing every ones electricity, Cortana seems to be giving the orders, she claims her new power is to bring peace to the galaxy, the other characters aren't so sure
Chief seems desperate to stop her. So... I could be a fool, but I believe Cortana has good intentions, and I believe that if she had some time she would bring the galaxy into a new order that could be stronger than even the covernet at their prime. Again and one last time she stated, and I do not quote as i do not have the line in front of me but she said something like "...Once this fighting stops, we can focus on the problems that mater, hunger..." etc.
That is what's going on, this mantel thing "seems" to be able to control the forerunner forces. Again I could be wrong.

Anyways, he sacrificed himself to allow the Pillar of Autumn to escape, taking down numerous covenant in the process, which ultimately allowed the destruction of the first halo ring......pretty epic

You know, I'm apart of that group of Halo fans that still loves Halo and supports 343, but if there's anything that could send me into the camp that despises everything 343 stands for, it's if they don't end the story of Master Chief and Cortana with a happy ending. Cortana is the only meaningful friend Master Chief has ever made, and Cortana has likewise never made such an attachment to anyone other than Chief. One might even go as far as to say that they have feelings for one another beyond friendship, however impossible such a relationship might be. Master Chief has gone saved the galaxy on multiple occasions now. Give the guy a damned break. Let it end happily. Don't just let Cortana go crazy and/or die.
The whole thing with the Halo story is, Cortana is Chief's humanity. She has always been the thing that made him human, and not some cyborg death machine. Without her, Chief basically loses his humanity, I mean that she made HIM feel human, not just giving us the outward appearance of him being more human.

Fav moment? Every moment throughout Halo. All the excitement, pain, and every emotion you can think of. She and the Chief are perfect together and they shared so many moments and emotions together that you can't feel in real life. The Fact that Cortana maybe gone forever breaks my heart and makes me worry for John, he is lost for sure and is facing life changed emotions that may feel like threats to him. I hope he finds some evidence that he will be fine... (I started to tear up again when it showed the end of Halo 4, thanks a lot Chris)

Honestly, the only place where Cortana truly shines are in the books. She is a great character in the games, she really shines in the books, which have a lot more opportunities to show her personality, skills, and drive.
The book are particularly great because the author keeps giving you chapters that demonstrates the events from her perspective, and which are fabulously written; from the very start when Cortana and the chief have their first mission, the test range on Reach.

I love the epic story thats starts out in the first Halo trilogy, but when Halo 4 kicks off it starts going further, referencing the books and finally doing character development for the characters. I hope they don't bring back Cortana, I hope this trilogy is mostly about Master Chief/John finding out who he really is, cause he seems he's lost a lot of his humanity while being apart of the UNSC and being a spartan. Thats just me.

Nuclear Winter Gaming Do you have to be on almost every post commenting the same thing? Halo 4 was not about Cortana dying, it was about the introduction of a new antagonist (Didact/Prometheans) and the psychological aspects of both John and Cortana.
They both struggled to find their identities, though each had differing problems, and what constituted the line between man and machine. Cortana's death in Halo 4 was a harsh wake-up slap to the face for John, it showed him that he was more than the machine the UNSC made him out to be.
I believe that Halo 5 has him AWOL in a quest to find a way to resurrect Cortana, a mission that finally benefits him solely and not humanity as a whole. Proving that he was not a machine bred for war, that he was still human and could have his own reason to fight.

Let the games follow the chief, there's plenty of more about the Halo universe than the games try to show. Unless you read the books and graphic novels sadly you know very very little to the Halo universe, so movies would be a great way to bring more about the Halo universe to the Halo game fans.

Old comment but nope. The Chief is not Halsey's son. In the book "The Fall of Reach" (which has been admitted as canon), you read about how Dr. Halsey and Lieutenant Keyes go to a planet in the Eridanus system to observe a kid that would later become The Chief. If i remember correctly, John was kidnapped by the ONI after Keyes and Halsey left and replaced with an imperfect clone that would later die naturally due to sickness, thus making nobody suspect that John had been kidnapped. You could however argue that he was her favorite...

This is the result of reading too fast, not enunciating and not practicing the script beforehand. The sentence cadence betrays that, when the narrator puts unnecessary pauses in the middle of sentences, or runs multiple sentences on. He's reading aloud. Not narrating.
Part of the charm of watching narrated lore videos is not only the video cuts and dramatic music, but a narrator weaving the story against the backdrop. You dull the experience when you sound like a middle schooler hastily reading his book report.
Please, and this is honest criticism, practice the script. Ingrain it into your mind so you don't stumble on words that you may not pronounce often. The videos are too well produced to end up being mumbled through.
Good points. Re-record this a couple of times, slow down and breathe to get each emphasis in the right place and it would be really enjoyable.
+Henrik Danielsson Everyone wants to talk fast but so few can. I cheat by reading script multiple times, then record it somewhat slowly and speed up track around 15-20%. Perfect, fast speech with proper pronounced words and if there are any mistakes they are easy to fade cut and hide when track is sped up.

H4's campaign was the best in the series. Halo has been missing an emotional attachment and halo 4 delivered that. The previous games made you wonder "What is going to happen in the war?" Halo 4 made you wonder "What is going to happen with Master Chiefs allegiance and Cortana's whereabouts". Can't wait for guardians.

Everyone is saying 343 wrecked the story but in my opinion 343 are way better at story telling then bungie it showed everyone that John was a human and had fellings bungie was still good but I couldn't find any emotion in any of bungie a halos (just my opinion)
The whole point of the Master Chief is he's an empty husk that you embody. He wasn't meant to have an identity on purpose so that you could immerse yourself and really felt that you were the Master Chief. Bungie stated this in one of their vidocs. 343 changed Halo into a completely different game, basically ruining Halo.
If it's a speech impediment, I find it endearing. If not, it's a personality trait, which I also find endearing.
