Totally subscribed to Evan&Katelyn's channel. Here's an idea for you Alec... how about taking a Damascus billet, and mill concentric circles in it using a ball end mill, so when you flatten it out, you produce a 'ripple' patten?
Damascus (including raindrops) would look cool when incorporated into other projects. For example, make a few sheets 1'x2' / 3dm x 6dm, and frame with wood to make cabinet doors. Of course, you will need a bigger forge. Imagine that: A kitchen with Raindrop Damascus door panels.
Love your videos Alec and the editing style (music video) but when you have such great guests like diresta and even and katelyn, I really wanted a bit more of the dialogue and interaction while doing the blacksmithing. I enjoy hearing you teaching
Alec, you are an extremely talented young man. It shows how much you love what you do simply by seeing and hearing your enthusiasm. I know there is a saying somewhere by someone who's a hell of a lot smarter than me that roughly states that if you work doing what you truly love than you will never work a day in your life. I'm pretty sure that's someone's saying, if by some slim chance that it isn't than it should be. I really wish I could afford to fly out and travel to your shop, take the time needed to take your classes and learn every lil tidbit of information you would be willing to share with me. Your classes have to be amazing to participate in and it's people like you who will make sure that the art of blacksmithing won't be lost to machines. I enjoyed the years I spent learning how to fabricate metal, learning how to weld and shape metal into what I wanted but at the same time part of me wishes I had spent that time learning anything and everything about blacksmithing. I could only imagine what I would be able to do today. I really hope that I can learn, sooner than later, how to be a blacksmith. Keep up the amazing work. I would love to own even something as small as a thumbtack that you made!
Great video! I don't have a complete workshop like you, Alec, so I can't just dive in. With that said, raindrop Damascus is at the top of my list to make "one day." Excellent video, as always, and Evan & Katelyn were great new faces to see in the shop. Keep up the good work, Alec!
Alec, the way you made this rain-drop damascus would look stunning for a piece of mokume-gane. If you ever revisit mokume-gane as part of another project, you should absolutely apply this method!
Wondering if you make 81 layer domascus then drill and ream out 6mm holes then fill those holes with 1080 6mm dia rod friction fit. Heat, twist, power hammer to square, restack, heat and see what pattern came out..... Just me then😎
Awesome as always Alec. Could you possibly do a demo of making shark’s tooth Damascus? I would love to see how that is done and see the finished steel pattern. Keep up the great work.
I'm pretty sure this is not the only time we see Alec making this raindrop pattern Damascus with his mad skills. I wish you could also have a collaboration with Jimmy Diresta just like the one you did with EvanAndKatelyn.
This just gave me an idea that could be really cool, forge out a piece of Damascus layered the way you would for the raindrop pattern then instead of drilling random davits find a CNC mill to make an inscription then carry on with the production as you would making the raindrop pattern and see it the inscription shows up in the final pattern
Good watch thank you. Next raindrop piece you should see if you can drill a pattern. Maybe do your smithing symbol in various holes. Like mozaic damascus but not really.
Looking at how you did this patter. It gave me the idea of making a bunch of twisted, squaring them up, welding them in a square, cutting into thinner plates with the intent to flip them, THEN doing the rain drop pattern stuff. I don't know why, but I want to see what that looks like.
Been asking for rain drop Damascus ever since I first saw it on forged in fire, from the look of that piece of steel it’s been worth the wait, beautiful pattern........
I’m loving this collab! Raindrop Damascus has been one of my favorite patterns since I saw it a couple of years ago. You should try raindrop Mokume Gane! I’m sure it would be even more striking!
Alec; I am in awe of your enthusiasm, your love of crafting exploring, and expaning your profession. Thank you for always taking your audience on an amazing journey.
Alec, I have a few particular weapon ideas that I would love to see your efforts on. A Trident, a Pudao, a chakrum. I think each presents their own challenges and could be loads of fun to watch you come up with designs.
I watch EvanAndKatelyn and came over after seeing your colab with them. I am only 4:40 into the video and am already loving your editing skills, your personality and your style. I'm definitely looking forward to watching more of your videos.
I've been waiting for this collaboration, you guys are awesome. That Raindrop pattern is amazing! Nice work! Oh yeah and mad props to Jamie, very nice work on the editing!
Yeah Jamie, you've been spot on for the last couple of months now, imo! Really good job, it's a pleasure to see and listen to these videos thanks to you (well, and Alec, but he gets his share of fame)
Yeah, this...this is what quality entertainment looks like. Good entertaining people having fun and making stuff. Alec's absolute energy and knowledge combined with Katelyn and Evan's willingness to learn and do the work...yeah, this is what we need more of.
WOW!!! That was awesome guys!!! Keep up the amazing work!! Lol that part with the knife fiddling is so me! I always have my leatherman out and am playing with it!😂
Holy cow the enthusiasm!!!! I'm sitting in my porch smiling watching this & people are probably thinking I'm crazy. I'm so glad Evan & Katelyn did this colab with you. I'm a new subscriber now & can't wait to see more. Great video guys!!!!
Alec around other people: Cool, collected, speaks slowly and calmly. Alec around Jamie: WELCOME BACK TO THE WORKSHOP EVERYBODY!!! WOOOOOO!!! ^O^ You're awesome man!
Hey there, I’ve an idea for you to make try making dragonskin damascus. It looks awesome! What you basically have to do is to take some ball bearing balls and iron power put it into a container heat it up and forgeweld it all together.
For the relatively small amount of effort it took to make that Damascus pattern, you really end up with an impressive result. You should really consider using this one again and again.
You should make a bottom tray like thing for your tubes. like a ladle, so if you drop something you can just pull the thing out. like they have in those jars of blue liquid at the barbers shop with the combs in them.
As I said on IG (or maybe it was Twitter) I'm a sucker for a good Crossover episode of my favorite shows/movies!! Doesn't matter if it's Supergirl and the Flash, or Evan, Katelyn, & Alec!! Crossover's just make me happy!!!
Hey Katelyn, Evan and Alec! Since Evans and Katelyn 3D print, why not whip out the old FOUNDRY, and try to cast a 3D printed pommel or something. I know some jewlers 3D print in wax and use lost wax casting (not sure if its said like this in english). Love the collab!!!
Hey Alec, I was just wondering if you would ever use timascus in a project. Its kind of expensive, but i feel like it would make an amazing end product. The colors on it are just wonderful.
Seriously, whoever edits your videos on a daily basis deserves an award. Don't get me wrong, Alec, you/ your content is why i watch, but the video editing is brilliant and makes it the best channel on RUclips (for me, personally). Cheers man, love it.
Thank god this is done. I think this officially covers all the maker-based channels I subscribe to and I can go back to not having to see Evan and Katelyn trying to build a follower base off the backs of larger channels.
Tragically Awesome ! I love raindrop damascus... now to make raindrop DamaSteele, which would be stainless damascus... You already have experience with nickle... so it would be the next logical step...right ? ?
Absolute BLAST hanging out with you in the shop and CANNOT wait to share the rest of this project!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS IT'S LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!
Great having y'all here!!! 🎉🎉🎉🙏🙏
EvanAndKatelyn OMG!! I can't wait!!
Should try to make a DOG TAG out of damascus
WOOHOOO!! IM WAITING!!
There are a lot of forging channels on RUclips but your energy and antics make yours by far the most fun to watch. Keep the videos coming.
I absolutely agree with you
I love how much you’ve been collaborating with people. I found so many awesome channels I wouldn’t have known without you!
Rain Drop. Drop Top. Alec is kickin ass in the workshop.
definitely thumbs up
I just knew this comment would exist
lmao, good one
It sucks that music is forever. Because trap music needs to die
Saw the video title, searched for this comment, wasn't disappointed.
10:30 I see Evan isn't used to Alec being the the flipping master that he is xD
Totally subscribed to Evan&Katelyn's channel. Here's an idea for you Alec... how about taking a Damascus billet, and mill concentric circles in it using a ball end mill, so when you flatten it out, you produce a 'ripple' patten?
So, damascus steel shield when?
siliconshaman thank you for the sub!!! 😁😁
Neat bit of technology 3D printed steel... Especially for more complex items that need perfection. Great job everyone!
I’ve been waiting for you to do a raindrop pattern since 400k subs almost!!! Finally thank you!!
adam welch same here
Omg! That design is my favorite yet! Would make such a cool Bushcraft knife!
It's a beautiful pattern. I really like it.
Love your videos Alec and the editing style (music video) but when you have such great guests like diresta and even and katelyn, I really wanted a bit more of the dialogue and interaction while doing the blacksmithing. I enjoy hearing you teaching
By the way how'd from Texas! :)
He is SUCH a good teacher! We caught a lot more of it in our videos and will try to stuff as much as we can into our video :)
EvanAndKatelyn sweet I'll check it out!!
There is so much energy between the 3 of you I think the mass inside your workshop increased
Alec, you are an extremely talented young man. It shows how much you love what you do simply by seeing and hearing your enthusiasm. I literally cannot stop watching your channel. Quality work and quality videos

That rain drop pattern looks so good cant wait to see the finished blade its gonna be awesome
Raindrop pattern.........YES!!! Can’t wait to see it polished up.
I loved the backwards/slow-mo footage of the scale coming off the damascus when your were drawing it out with the power hammer!
I would love to see if it's possible to make a snowflake pattern damascus. That would be amazing.
Kengetsu Nah, because the steel would constantly be offended end triggered
Just let it snow.... had to edit.. damn sinuses
He's already done something kind of similar with his belt buckles.
SoupFork ha burn!
Just add a smattering of liberals!

Never thought I would enjoy watching people make the raw material for another build so much
I've wanted to see you do raindrop Damascus for so long!!
Love the rain drop pattern, one of my favorites. I don't know about making stuff on a 3D printer but I make one kick as bologna sandwhich.
I'm pretty sure this is not the only time we see Alec making this raindrop pattern Damascus with his mad skills. I wish you could also have a collaboration with Jimmy Diresta just like the one you did with EvanAndKatelyn.

That raindrop Damascus looks so cool and pretty!
That is a beautiful pattern. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Solid music choice today, makes the video so much more enjoyable!
Coldius Wot How perfect is it to play metal for a blacksmithing montage.
Metal is better
Id have to disagree on that
My merch came today! Wow I love the raindrop Damascus.
Good watch thank you. Next raindrop piece you should see if you can drill a pattern. Maybe do your smithing symbol in various holes. Like mozaic damascus but not really.
It would be nice if you would do a video series explaining and demonstrating how you make different damascus patterns.
Jesus I love that guy so MUCH. From episode to episode becoming better and better. Keep up the great work
WOW this pattern just kick ass!!! Ist the first time i see this and I'm amaze 😮😮😮😮😮
Looking at how you did this patter. It gave me the idea of making a bunch of twisted, squaring them up, welding them in a square, cutting into thinner plates with the intent to flip them, THEN doing the rain drop pattern stuff. I don't know why, but I want to see what that looks like.
I wanna see a damascus steel kukri after your bowie knife is over! Also, that raindrop pattern is GORGEOUS, great video!
ruclips.net/video/_JbQozMLdFw/видео.html
I'm officially love the look of rain drop Damascus. I really hope to see more of it in the future
First complex pattern weld I ever made. Cool!
using the raindrop technique, you could possibly map out a grid across a piece and be able to control the pattern. almost like pixels.
Hey Alec you should make a chefs knife
ruclips.net/video/IPQ6DfZM-cc/видео.html
Been asking for rain drop Damascus ever since I first saw it on forged in fire, from the look of that piece of steel it’s been worth the wait, beautiful pattern........
There's a reason old-school patterns are still around there beautiful and timeless
You MUST do more rainbowdrop Damascus man🤙💪
I’m loving this collab! Raindrop Damascus has been one of my favorite patterns since I saw it a couple of years ago. You should try raindrop Mokume Gane! I’m sure it would be even more striking!
That Pattern is BITCHIN!
Raindrops? Who'd a thunk it? Very nice though...
Alec; I am in awe of your enthusiasm, your love of crafting exploring, and expaning your profession. Thank you for always taking your audience on an amazing journey.
You should write a book about Damascus. It would be great to have a resource book explaining how to achieve different patterns.
Alec, I have a few particular weapon ideas that I would love to see your efforts on. A Trident, a Pudao, a chakrum. I think each presents their own challenges and could be loads of fun to watch you come up with designs.
love the raindrop Damascus! it was awesome!
I watch EvanAndKatelyn and came over after seeing your colab with them. I am only 4:40 into the video and am already loving your editing skills, your personality and your style. I'm definitely looking forward to watching more of your videos.
loved the raindrop pattern. have you tried machining in your sideways S logo many times and seeing what the pattern looks like?
if drilling holes like this works, Alec you may want to try stamping your touch mark very deep in the steel and make "S" pattern damascus...
Lol, evan in that welding smok looks like a totally different person. Maybe welding Evan can be Tony.
I was not expecting that sick, acid techno drop at 4:53! 🤯
I've been waiting for this collaboration, you guys are awesome. That Raindrop pattern is amazing! Nice work! Oh yeah and mad props to Jamie, very nice work on the editing!
Thanks a lot Nick!
Yeah Jamie, you've been spot on for the last couple of months now, imo! Really good job, it's a pleasure to see and listen to these videos thanks to you (well, and Alec, but he gets his share of fame)
Cheers Alexander! I feel like I'm really in the groove of the videos lately!
Sorry to crash this message trail, but Jamie, where's your Bowie knife mate?! Don't think we ever got to see the finished product!
The bowie cracked in part 13 or 14 of the Scottish claymore I believe. I'll make a new knife at some point :)
The edm around 5 min was not expected but fantastic video bro👍
Wow I love the way that came out!!!! Now part 4 of the damascus bowie knife!! Haha
Yeah, this...this is what quality entertainment looks like. Good entertaining people having fun and making stuff. Alec's absolute energy and knowledge combined with Katelyn and Evan's willingness to learn and do the work...yeah, this is what we need more of.
I've been waiting months for raindrop Damascus steel. Amazing stuff as always, Alec.
WOW!!! That was awesome guys!!! Keep up the amazing work!! Lol that part with the knife fiddling is so me! I always have my
leatherman out and am playing with it!😂
Wow that's amazing!!!! You need to make a wakizashi for your katana with raindrop Damascus 😍 I wonder how you could expand on this technique.
Too much fun happening in that workshop! Love it! 😄
whazee the right amount of fun!
This is seriously my favorite Damascus Pattern! Ugh So glad you finally did it!
So much fun!! And oh my goodness that raindrop pattern is stunningly gorgeous! I can't wait for the next video!!
This one is awesome! Can we get a video on stainless damascus that could be used for jewelry?
Holy cow the enthusiasm!!!! I'm sitting in my porch smiling watching this & people are probably thinking I'm crazy. I'm so glad Evan & Katelyn did this colab with you. I'm a new subscriber now & can't wait to see more. Great video guys!!!!
Finally a rain drop pattern!
Yeah!
How about a ladder pattern next Alec?
One of the coolest patterns yet!
Dude - I love how you keep supporting all those great channels!
That is some crazy awesome Damascus patterning
Wow! That turned out amazing! Can't wait to see the final product.
Alec around other people: Cool, collected, speaks slowly and calmly.
Alec around Jamie: WELCOME BACK TO THE WORKSHOP EVERYBODY!!! WOOOOOO!!! ^O^
You're awesome man!
Hey there, I’ve an idea for you to make try making dragonskin damascus.
It looks awesome! What you basically have to do is to take some ball bearing balls and iron power put it into a container heat it up and forgeweld it all together.
Katelyn radiates more than your gasforge!
For the relatively small amount of effort it took to make that Damascus pattern, you really end up with an impressive result. You should really consider using this one again and again.
Looks more like tortoise shell than a rain drop pattern to me, but still incredibly cool!!!
You should make a bottom tray like thing for your tubes. like a ladle, so if you drop something you can just pull the thing out. like they have in those jars of blue liquid at the barbers shop with the combs in them.
Fun fun fun. I subscribed Evan and Katelyn.
David Harvey thanks for the sub!!!
Shirt idea if you dont have them already: damascus patterns on sleeves or chest pocket
I’m glad I took a welding class in my high school. They taught us how to stick, spray, pulse, mig of course, and aluminum weld.
YES ! Raindrop in the house !!!
As I said on IG (or maybe it was Twitter) I'm a sucker for a good Crossover episode of my favorite shows/movies!! Doesn't matter if it's Supergirl and the Flash, or Evan, Katelyn, & Alec!! Crossover's just make me happy!!!

I was right with you on that moment of WOOOAH as the pattern was revealed... Absolutely love your passion, it's what keeps me coming back :)
That rain drop pattern is beautiful! You guys make a great team.
1977rugrat we think so too but we're biased!
hate when the video ends but the climax up to the etch is awesome! bittersweet
Thank god this is done. I think this officially covers all the maker-based channels I subscribe to and I can go back to not having to see Evan and Katelyn trying to build a follower base off the backs of larger channels.
Now I have to see raindrop stacked with wavy damascus
This has to be the best filming and editing I have seen on a RUclips video!
Tragically Awesome ! I love raindrop damascus... now to make raindrop DamaSteele, which would be stainless damascus... You already have experience with nickle... so it would be the next logical step...right ? ?
Your videos are just so clean, and your happy, go-get-em attitude is just so refreshing. Keep it up 😁
Wemon forging glowing steel. What a great time to be alive!
I was just waiting for that pattern
Amazing! Also alec make sure evan and Katelyn help you take 15 minutes to clean the shop!
yes finally raindrop damascus!!
