    Another excellent session, Matt. Makes perfect sense. I look at your current studio and think back to the very first video I saw of you...hitting chip shots over your swimming pool into the net at the back of your yard - in the rain. And I thought, who is this nutcase? But I’ve followed you ever since and have seen improvements in my game from many of your tips. Keep up the good work!

    Your golf tips are amazing. Short game is everything and you've helped me a lot there....but your full swing tips are words that resonate with me. It has really helped. I even won a small amateur golf tournament in Arizona earlier this year employing some of your tips.

    Great tips! One of my most recent little changes I have made, was being on the inside of my back foot like in the 1st tip, and it has really improved my drives and other shots.

    That 3rd tip kind of goes against what I have always been told to do!! "Keep your head still" Maybe I'm keeping it too still! Will try this out at the golf dome this weekend.

      I imagine tip #3 is taught "what not to do" because most amateurs don't do tip #1 and #2 -- that is, if a lesson is a half hour at $60/hr , many students looking for magic bullets don't (won't) listen to the lessons on stable weight platform and face control. I've begun to realize it's the base of the swing and the rest of the swing will follow and it' helped not only distance, but has cut my ball searching time exponentially.

    It’s good that you thoroughly explain how and when to rise up. I find that I naturally felt that greater force could be applied rising up on the downswing. But with further thought I can see that my thought of rising up on the downswing doesn’t have the control necessary for accurate consistent shot making. My way would lead to terribly discouraging days on the golf course (dance floor). You make me want to jump out of my hibernation here in the northeast and hit golf balls.

    Happy new year ! Any way to talk or teach some of those unique shots you only use when you need it? For example, I have a low flying, 60% swing, 100 yrd, 7 iron shot I use when I'm in the woods on the course. Something like that, kinda falls into using clubs different ways to keep it in play. Great channel, appreciate the videos.

    Great video and tips! Those shoes (Athalonz) do indeed help one with the weight on the inside but beware if you happen to play in wet or even slightly wet conditions as the water-proofing is weak and your feet will be soaked!

    I saw a vid of Phil talking about Max power and he advocates allowing your front foot to flare open after contact to take pressure off the front knee. I see your foot opens slightly in this video. Maybe experiment with fuller foot rotation and report back in subsequent video. Happy New Year.

    Athlonz shoes remind me of the old Hi Tec Weight-rite shoes from 1990. Had kind of a build up on the outer portion of the shoe. USGA ruled them illegal, something about a device to aid in the stroke or something like that. Had a pair, didn’t help my game a whole lot and they weighed a ton.

    The first one, The Shark used to call that, RPB, right pocket back- stops the sway off the ball. Great simple swing thought actually. Loosen the grip too. I see so many chumps white knuckling it trying to bomb it. Keep your head behind the ball, again, chumps lurch forward.

    I thought you keep your knees bent in the backswing, and then push off of the ground to stand taller throughout your downswing, to generate power. Ala just about every long hitting pro.

    does everyone else feel this shift in coaching the past six months...almost every online golf teacher is now it's hit as hard a possible, maximize distance, etc...whatever happened to swing at 80%, keep it play, don't give up penalty shots?

    • @tintruck2885
      @tintruck2885 3 года назад

      Yeah called good golf

    • @chrish6412
      @chrish6412 3 года назад

      A lot of the coaching I've seen lately has been to focus more on the platform and rotation and let the swing follow in line. The premise being that hitting harder comes from the beginning (platform and rotation) and not trying to initiate a powerful swing in the shoulders. I think with Dechambeau and other tour players creaming the yardage, these online instructors are tying to "give" a nugget to the "I wanna be Bryce" to their students while trying to keep them in the fairway.

      @frankcanzanella6753 3 года назад

      Matt has indicated in his videos that sometimes it’s better to over club the shot. Which means that in the golf shot feeling for the shot is of greater importance than maxing out a particular club that say gets 100 yards. I agree that feeling for the shot wins the day.

    Raising the head is poor advice sorry. The average tour player in 2021 as measured by V1, and AMG analytics LOWERS an average of 3 inches with less then 3% ever raising they head during the back swing. If tour players understand the inconsistencies this introduces - not advice I would give.
