The main reason I went to boots was because I didn’t have to body drag back to my board after a fall. That time spent finding my board was put straight into the next go. Makes progressing much faster!
You're not alone, Chris! We have quite a few people who have mentioned the same thing, although we're not here to encourage this practice. Body dragging (although terribly annoying to do most of the time) is an essential "skill" that you can truly get better at. Additionally, tossing boots on as a beginner in many locations can tend to make things more complicated. Cheers to progression, nonetheless!
My reason exactly, deep water boots are nice since I don't have to body drag to the board. Never mind those times where the conditions make it impossible to body drag to your board and you don't have a spare.. I also found boots much more natural coming from snowboarding. One thing is boots can be horrible with is waves in shallow water, once got stuck with my board behind me and not enough wind to pull myself up with the kite, and not enough space to twist around.
Nice video! Would It Be weird using boots Just to freeride, jumping and rolling? I tried boots and i felt them so good, i could control my board lot Better in my home spot pretty wavy
