    Would love to see a boots setup video, find out more about your preferences!
    Plenty of people commenting about boots injuries without considering what happens when one foot slips out of your straps, i've heard of stacks of injuries caused by that, less so boots!
    Big ups dude!

    for the future episodes, it would be great if you can cover the topic of relaunching the kite on sketchy conditions w boots-on IE: u r on the stomach, the kite is on its LE and pulling u downwind hard in the choppy conditions at 20+knts. Same conditions, when you crash on your back and kite pulling u downwind hard...etc

    I wanted to start off with boots, exactly for all the reasons you sum up but the sales guy talked me out of it, essentially saying it was a REALLY bad idea. So I got straps and I still regret listening to that guy... Like your girl, I hate body dragging when losing the board, just want to get up and go again and the additional toe movements keep cramping up my toes. Straps just don't give the same amount of control that boots can and the 2 minute tie up time at the start is bloody well worth it.

    In my opinion, you only should use boots if your level is hight ( 70% unhoocked ) the price, the injuries and the punishment to the board without majors and can do you a lot of damage if no have a good level.

      Is it comparable to snowboarding? because i'm intermediate in kite but i have lot's of experience crashing in snowboard lol, the surface is a lot harder.

    • @travelingrandom3106
      @travelingrandom3106 4 года назад

      @Grish Nakh Water Can be hard sometimes , i agree, depends on speed. Ice is always hard , no mater the speed lol. One could argue that this is all water in different states.

    Dope video! This got me wondering if i could put boots on any board (carbon boards for example) or will some of them break when ridden with boots ? Also i was thinking about getting the 2017 SS RADs and wanted to know if they were worth it... :))

    • @JakeKelsick
      @JakeKelsick  5 лет назад +1

      The RADS are awesome man. Been riding them for a few years and they are well worth it. Boots won't work great on every board... They will attach to most boards but boards that are super flat and stiff aren't that nice for boots. Because when you are locked into the board you use the core flex a lot more so it nice to have a flexible and explosive core. That's why we use a wood core in our Tona boards. Provides a little flex but still explosive.

    Nice video Jake. I have ridden both straps and boots wake boarding. I mostly ride with boots but I have ridden a kite board that some guys had out there one day and had a lot of fun riding with straps too. What do you ride the most. Boots or straps. Also I will look forward to watching your videos of you teaching and kite surfing with Delos

      Whats up dude! Thanks for watching and commenting on nearly EVERY video dude! I mainly ride boots, for my style of riding its a dream being locked in and being to 4WD everwhere!

    Is there an increased risk of injury compared to straps?

    • @peppethedj
      @peppethedj 5 лет назад

      Yup because you're locked in as he says ''you crash a lot harder''.
      But consider your riding style: is it newschool or old school?
      And by the way all the guys in King of Air is using straps :)

    • @marijntbh
      @marijntbh 5 лет назад +1

      Boots are killer for your knees with crashes or even in waves for example as all the sideways movements of your board goes straight to your knies and your ankles cant move at all so thst can be quite fuckey to. I ride both straps and boots because I like some variety in my riding and different conditions but if you're not quite sure if you are good enough stick to the straps for sure.

    Could you do a video on how to crash with boots because my railey is taking me a long time already because I’m scared of injuring my knees and ankles again

    • @martinsandstrom
      @martinsandstrom 5 лет назад +1

      dude if you crash unhooked you crash without safety net. Just focus on nailing the trick, can't be distracted with thoughts of crashing. The one thing you can do is to ride your boots loosely so you slide out. That helps. Or tie them down rock hard to save your ankles. Didn't work for me though. Still slid out and that was not nice on my ankles, I tell you that much. I ride them pretty loosely which also gives me better grab tweak.

    Hi Jake, I'm beginner at kiteboarding (I can ride upwind and lift a bit from water). My main issue is about carrying the stronger wind. What should I do when the wind comes stronger for a few seconds ? Bye !

    • @marijntbh
      @marijntbh 5 лет назад +2

      Maybe ride one size smaller if possible makes the hard part a bit easier otherwise you can try en keep your edge and kinda wait til the gust is over however this can give you quite some speed you can try and push your board more upwind to slow you down simulair to braking or ride downwind and depower als the presure gets of your kite and board you will slow down as well

    • @peppethedj
      @peppethedj 5 лет назад

      If in doubt just contact RRD if the board is made for boots?
      Some brands mention it on the board description.

    Can you ride boots also with rough conditions and little waves?

    • @JakeKelsick
      @JakeKelsick  5 лет назад +1

      Sure can. Nothing really changes besides being locked it to your board.

    • @soetkinmartens2980
      @soetkinmartens2980 5 лет назад

      I live in Belgium and winters are rough here. I ride my boots in winter and summer and I have no problems with it. You just need to be a little more carefull cause being pulled down by a wave with your boots on is not pleasant.

    • @marijntbh
      @marijntbh 5 лет назад +1

      For sure but as our belgian friend says be carefull rougher conditions might be unpleasand if you get pulled down in the water for example and it can definitely take more impact on your knees with tougher landings etc

    I like the idea of using boots for the advantages you mentioned but what happens when you have to swim in deep water ? The idea of my kite being down and being in deep water with boots concerns me. How do swim with a board with boots ?

    I feel like weight is still an issue. The boards that support boots are often heavier and adding boots really makes a difference. I’m just starting my boot journey and have found weight to be of a significant impact. I have slingshot asylum with slingshot KTV boots. Anyone recommend a lighter boot??

    • @JohnDoe-pq3oe
      @JohnDoe-pq3oe 5 лет назад

      Andreas K I have cabrinha h3 I think they are lighter

    • @pd6732
      @pd6732 5 лет назад +1

      RAD are lighter than KTV. Also Cab H3, but Ronix should be lightest. They had quality issues a few years back especially riding in salt water but seems to be resolved since lots of people are riding them nowadays. Next boots for me are probably going to be the new ronix supreme.

    What about boots being hard on the knees?

    • @JakeKelsick
      @JakeKelsick  5 лет назад +2

      For sure can stress the knees a bit more dude to harder crashes. But a foot popping out of a strap can be super bad for knees and ankles as well.
