Extremely useful video Jake. Thanks so much.
You are very welcome dude! Stoked to have this info out there!
Thanks Jake awesome video!

Great video jake, thanks a lot for it !
You are very welcome dude!
Very useful thanks jake!
Happy, You found some value in it, dude!
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Thanks for tuning in Martin!
Excellent! Thanks Jake! At my old cable park we used to call the jump technique at 7:57 the "leapfrog" because it feels kind of like springing out of the water lol
haha I could see that name fitting
Thanks for the interesting video! Have never used boots before but it would definitely come in handy to not lose your board at sea!
For sure! Have you seen my Straps VS Boots video? I talk about exactly that and some of the other the Pro's and cons of both - ruclips.net/video/IaEMnQ1DQOA/видео.html
Hey Jake, nice video! Covers lots I was after. Still one question left: How do you self rescue with boots? Say, light wind day, kite rolls inwards due to wind out, falls down and you can't get it back up and have to self rescue and say it's deep water. Do you get out of the boots first?
Nice vid ;)
Nice video man, just 1 thing for those who want to use Hyperlite systems.
It's nice to keep your feet dry and warm whilst setting and packing up, but undo the clips before you ride up onto the beach at the end of your session to prevent seashells and sand from blocking the mechanism. From experience it's really quite awkward if somebody has to come help you with it whilst you're flopping around on the beach in 35 kts with them stuck.
haha Solid tip dude! That system is definitely nice in cold places or places with a rough rocky beach.
Great video jake! Hey where I can get those boots? Regards from Chile!
Thanks for this video! I'm not quite there yet, but have one question: what do you do when you crash facing away from the kite? Kite is basically behind you. (Maybe this only happens to me?)
Hi Jake
Can you make one talking about suicide setup and where you prefer to have your lishe and why.
Thanks for some really good and useful vlogs
Hey Kristen, I have already made a few videos about the basics of unhooking and touched on setting up your leash. If you become a Patreon you can get access to an organized playlist with ALL OF THEM - www.patreon.com/JakeKelsick but here is a video that touches on everything else you need to know - ruclips.net/video/E3V9kE_zpo4/видео.html
Nice video Jake. I ride with open toed boots when I ride at the cable park. How do you keep your tana kicker anchored. Do you just have a boat anchor attached to it or did you put some concrete with some chain attached to it underwater. Also have you met up with Delos yet
The Tona kicker has two boat anchors that hold it in place. I have been in touch with Brady but haven't had the chance to meet up yet. Thanks for the reminder!
Hey Jake, thanks a lot for the awesome video! I have question: can I ride boots with bow kite?
You can ride boots with any kite. Boots only really make a difference when it comes to your board.
Hi jake nice vid, pls which lense you use at 6:40 ?

For those of us only interested in wakestyle; how long would you recommend someone spend in footstraps before moving up to boots? are there any bad habits that can form from spending too long in footstraps? or does moving to boots too soon increase the risk of injury because you're making life more difficult while you're just learning to kite?
Life's Better On a Board you can use straps as long as you want. Some people recommend using straps to learn your unhooked tricks and then use Boots to help you boost bigger but I started using Boots while learning to railey because I found it easier. It all comes down to personal preference but you can’t use straps to long. Except you want to hit kickers, i wouldn‘t recommend straps to do that.
Life's Better On a Board Once you know how to ride you can use boots. It has been safer for me. you just have to know how to fall when a maneuver goes wrong, and avoid falling with your legs extended as the fall can be hard and can damage your knees.
I started using boots after learning the railey to blind since it is pretty easy to catch a back edge when learning to land blind.
This question has nothing to do with boots, but how can you always kite without rash guard? I get really bad rash from my harness
Hey brother g'day from the Gold Coast Down Under Australia, what accent is it that you have ? It's very cool.
Thanks dude! I'm from Antigua a small island in the Caribbean so the accent is Antiguan 🤙🏻
@@JakeKelsick Very cool brother. I'd love to go there. My home is beautiful too.
Hardest things for me learning right now is keeping the board on my feet while getting ready to launch. Can boots help beginners too?
I would not recommend it cause it’s pretty hard to get your board in front of you when you crash. And a beginner you will crash very often
How do you deal with the fins? Won’t they break if you drag them on the beach?
I actually don't ride with fins. Check out this video to find out why - ruclips.net/video/4WODMQJvjK4/видео.html
But there is a way you can ride up the Beach with out them hooking.
As a more of wakeboarder than kiter i know the pain when the Board becomes an anker. Rip knees
haha yuuuuup NO FUN!
What's the song in the intro?
Here is the into song dude! soundcloud.com/user-952270227/want-it-all-video?in=jakekelsick/sets/vlog-tunes
Good Video as always! i'm already past this fase but I would like to know more about unhooking just some pointers on that ! also check out our Instagram and youtube would love some feedback! Peace out !
nice one! but some words on boot size would have been nice. seems not easy to find the right boot size since everyone is telling some different stories...
I guess it may change depending on the brand but most close toe boots are the same as your normal shoe size. 👊🏼
the question for me is how much space you allow between toes and shoe. some say toes should touch the boots, some say too much space is bad. i ended up with too small boots i think because after an hour kiting in boots and landing some toeside stuff i got pain in the toes for a week :/
