I live like a 5 minute walk away from cafe Sarasa and haven't been able to visit yet so I really need to visit soon 😍 Need to catch the sakura at Hirano shrine too!
Thanks to this video, me and my friend found out and went to the Hirano Shrine at night. We got the Sakura beer and showed them they were on RUclips now. They remembered Seera-san! Very fun people and pretty Sakura.
During the years I lived in Japan I always went to Kyoto during Sakura season. But, in my opinion, even better than Kyoto is Hikone-shi, just a 50 minute train ride northeast on the Biwako line. They have an original castle with 2 moats and INCREDIBLE Sakura along the moats and stone walls. With black and white swans in the moats. MUCH less crowded than the kyoto spots and they bloom a week or two after Kyoto's so visiting is a great way to prolong the season. Go behind the castle, between the moat and Jr high school for a very quiet experience. They also do a light up at night and when the air is still the Sakura reflects in the moat.
This is an amazing timed video, my family arrived in Kyoto from Melbourne on Friday! Thanks so much for all the great recommendations, your videos have been a great source of information and inspiration for our holiday! 🙏🌸
I just got to Kyoto a couple of days ago. I’ve appreciated Sakura at Imperial Palace and those throughout the city but the Hirano Shrine atmosphere looks incredible. Hopefully I can go during these upcoming days.
28:20 cant stop laughing when You pulled out the original Mohnbrötchen and a Bretzel, sitting down to enjoy the cherry blossoms at a remote spot in Kyoto :D This was a nice video, I really enjoyed watching. My journey to Japan 2024 starts soon, but it takes me to the north. If I return to Kyoto one day I may visit the more quiet places. Thank You for sharing!
I'd like to visit Gion and its vicinity just for the chance to encounter and admire maiko and geisha. But there are so many nice places in Kyoto. Your shot at 17:21 is just so beautiful. Thank you.
Hi Seera/Sarah Thank you to upload such a nice blooming information. I never imagine such a beautiful place in Kyoto. Tokyo has a so many cherry view places, though all place are so crowdy. Also, your tour called friendly people. That make me really enjoy to watch your video. Send my cheer. Please keep guiding Kyoto.
There is a quiet respectful confidence in the way you share public places with us. Given the news of entitled influencers in Japan, I want to thank you for being a shining example of what respectful behavior looks like in Japan as a content creator. Keep shining, Sarah❤
Whenever I think about wanting to visit Japan, it's during the Sakura season I really would like to visit. But as someone who REALLY isn't a fan of crowds, I've always been worried that an already crowded Japan seems to get even worse during this time of the year so it's great to see that even if some of the places you visited was obviously crowded there was also some quieter places to enjoy the Sakura.
It's worth noting that crowds in Japan are different than crowds in other places in my experience. I'm not a fan of crowds but people are so polite there it's really not stressful like, say, crowded places in America are✌️
Great videos of Sakura areas around Kyoto! We left Osaka March 29th. We visited Kyoto on the 27th. All the tourist areas were simply overcrowded! We bought an all day bus pass. Road the bus 2 times only, took a taxis back to the train station. Took way too long. Had a great time there.
Thanks for visiting Hirano Shrine. I stumbled upon the shrine when I grabbed a taxi from Tenryuji to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. I asked the driver for recommendations for hanami and he pointed to the shrine's entrance as we passed by. There wasn't a fee then (2019?) and the place was packed. There were picnic tables and restaurants (no food trucks) set up in the back. It was way more crazy and had a fun vibe. It wasn't as crowded as Maruyama Park though.
I had planned to go to Japan autumn 2025, but now it looks like it will be SPRING = SAKURA season after all. Yay, playing close attention to your videos, and collecting lots of ideas. Thanks.
I've been to several of these locations. Very nostalgic for me. I'm surprised you didn't cover Kiyomizu-dera on this trip. It's good for both daytime and nighttime blossom viewing, but their light-up at night is really beautiful. They also do a light-up for maple leaves in the autumn. It is pretty crowded, though. The places you went seemed to have a reasonably comfortable crowd level. I love that weeping cherry tree at Maruyama Park. I've been there several times, both during and outside of cherry blossom season. If I understand correctly, even though the Emperor now resides in Tokyo, the Imperial Palace in Kyoto is still one of the Imperial residences and is ready to receive him whenever he wishes to visit Kyoto. My wife and I got married during cherry blossom season in a Shinto ceremony at Nashinoki-Jinja, just off the Imperial Palace grounds. It's a beautiful little rustic Shinto shrine. It was early April and the cherry trees were in peak bloom. We couldn't have asked for better conditions! I hope you come back to Kyoto for the Obon festival with the burning Daimonji on the mountainside. It's so beautiful! The music selections for today's video were so good! I'd love to know what it was.
Hi, once again, I'm relaxing to your video content while unboxing and testing my new small kitchen appliances (toaster and a waffle maker). Thank you so much for this trip video.
@seerasan Believe it or not, I hope to learn how to make waffles. It shouldn't be difficult, I'm thrilled to have purchased the waffle maker yesterday. Thank you for your kindness responses.
When I was a kid, my parents took me to Zouheikyoku (造幣局) in Osaka. One of the most magnificent spots for Hanami for sure. There is another spot you can try... it's between Osaka and Nara off of Route 163, called Iimorireien (飯盛霊園). It's a cemetery, but they have many sakura for good hanami spots.
the Season of Cherry Blossom is the Time of Dreams , " the fall of the Cherry Blossom petal , is as the fall of the tear of the Dreamcatcher " catch the petal , catch the tear , catch the Dream and make a wish
なつかしい! Seeing all these places stirs good memories. I was lucky enough to live in Kyoto for three years, not too far from Maruyama Koen and experience Hanami there. Still miss it after all this time.
Seera, this is honestly, the best Cherry Blossom 🌸 🌸 video I have ever seen. Your cameraman has taken some of the most beautiful, and aesthetic photos, of Japan on RUclips. I almost watched most of this video frame by frame. Each one is worthy of a postcard in its own right. Well done you two!!!!! Thank you, cheers, Muffy from Oz.
I filmed everything myself in this video 😗 Shah, the cameraman I mentioned, works for Tokyo Creative & the video on that channel with his shots will come out later this year!
@@seerasan lol I was confused for a sec too. I was thinking wait.. she isn't filming this herself and the camera man is just making it look like she is filming herself? god damn, this camera man so good I never realized they existed before! LOL
It seems I was there a few days before you, otherwise I would’ve loved to have taken up your suggestions. We visited the Torji temple at night and it was beautiful but also a little crowded! 🌸
5:12 I saw the same tree in 2007. Apparently it has been there since 1949 and the original one was there for about 200 years. For some reason I thought it was over 500 years old.
Just found this channel and subbed. I used to live in Kyoto in the early 90s. I walked through the Gosho every day to work, looking up at Daimonji. So lovely to see it again. And I am glad to see the cherry blossom tree is still standing in Maruyama Park. It was in danger of falling over back then. One of my favourite places to go was Honen-in Temple along the Philosopher's Path. This was pre-Internet, so I would just take along a book and sit and read; sometimes climbing the hills behind. I am living in Tokyo now (Hachioji) but my heart will always be in Kyoto. BTW, I just uploaded a video of my sakura photos on my channel. (ruclips.net/video/Usau28PshQM/видео.html) The RUclips algorithm decided that your video was in a similar vein to mine and placed it in my recommended. That is how I found your channel. 😊
You are getting really good at this Seera... something I notice was some locals pushing you a bit, I hope the bad tourists are not affecting you and your job. Greetings from Costa Rica.
I love Kyoto. I stay away from the crowded tourist areas , don't get me wrong those areas are great just too crowded unless you go early before everything is open or in the late evening after everything is closed or closing
Thank you for your videos! Sorry if I missed a video where you explain but: how do you find out about light up events? Is there a place to check for specific cities/areas? I’d love to go to one when traveling end of this year 😮
