Practically lived on those Luup bikes whilst I was in Tokyo last year. Early morning rides in the sun and late night cruises were great, and for a big city Tokyo is surprisingly ok to ride in. For anyone going I can highly recommend it, but also heads up that the bikes are way better than the scooters
When my wife and I visited Japan last year, she ended up getting sick near the end of the trip. A scary situation when you're in a foreign country, but we went to a clinic nearby our hotel and had them check her out and even prescribe her some medication. Only the doctor spoke a bit of English, but we made it work through google translate as well as some of their English "point to answer" sheets lol. But the biggest surprise to us was the price! When came time to pay, they said "we're very sorry but unfortunately you will have to pay out of pocket for this visit" which we were like yeah, no we understand lol. So my wife opens her wallet and proceeds to pull at least 30,000 yen as they hand us the bill, (because as Americans, we're used to paying hundreds of dollars for a 15 minute visit 🙄) and their eyes got big and they were like ahhh!! ie ie! and pushed the bill forward pointing at the price. And we both lean in to look at it and we're like uhh, that's like $30 USD..??
On the one hand, jealous: it must be amazing living in Japan with so many awesome places to visit with so many cute dogs. On the other hand: Germany isn't so bad.
Always fun when you do these. Always interesting to compare prices. I always try to have Golden Curry on hand and cook it a lot, though the price here in Canada is probably double what you pay in Japan. From what you show on the video, you are pretty smart with your spending while still finding time to have fun and enjoy yourself. Looks like you strike a very good balance.
The netflix, clothes shopping, capsule hotel, and monthly bills kinda distorts the "weekly" expenses. (unless you are doing this every week) If you are doing these things only ONCE a month, I would divide these totals by 4 as you are distributing one monthly expense per week and then add them to the week total expenses. (if that makes sense)
I’ve also had problems with too much earwax build up. What helps me is taking extra care to dry them thoroughly after showering either with earsticks or just straight up a hair dryer! Loved the video although I don’t know if I would have counted the stay at the capsule hotel as that was basically business expenses for another video? :D
We just got back to Oz after 3 weeks in Japan we had a great time although it was sooo hot and humid for the first 2 weeks😆 on the last day I decided to do one of those lotteries at a Lawson and I actually got the 1st prize - it is a One Piece figure - so happy about that😃. It's beautiful how this lovely day is immortalized in the video. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us! I think you're quite a responsible spender compared to myself, lol.
Great video - super interesting to see what stuff costs, but it would be so much easier to understand if you could include the price in British Pounds as well as in YEN. 😊
Yes, you do eat out a lot, and it costs more. If I lived in Japan I would enjoy all the goodies they have to offer too! I say if you make it, spend it and enjoy, Thanks for the tour, I want to stay in one of the capsule hotels!!!

When you say postage was cheap at 500 yen for a letter, puts into perspective the price of your daily items, which at first glance is high, but considering location, probably more in line than it might seem. (postage here in Canada for a birthday card is $1.07. 500 yen = $4.56) Coffee addict here also, now that I'm older I usually try to just make it at home and take it with me. As you get older, and prices keep climbing, the cost of things when you are in your 20's and 30s sets the bar for what things "should" cost.
You were right Next to Andaz rooftop bar which is amazing! Have you ever been there? Living in dense cities forces you to spend spend spend. Having said that, it looks like your body may be telling you near more meat.
Lol on sundays i work an 11 hour shift then go grocery shopping for the week. Then i go to the bar to enjoy the start of my 4 day weekend. Germany still sounds like a ton of fun its on my list of places to vist. Unfortunately mein deutsch ist nicht sehr gut.😢 i only took one year of classes for it.
Stumbled on your video. I started laughing when you went to Blue Bottle in Shibuya, i'm pretty sure we sat at the same spot lol, got the exact same order too. The tomato soup was good!
What was the awesome black rectangular bag you had on Day 1 - appears momentarily when you are riding the bike. (I have a backpack and luggage problem). 😄😄😄
Jasmine rice is so good! I’ve had to switch out to brown rice due to being pre diabetic from my pcos and it sucks because I love jasmine rice lol. Would you be able to do a video about birth control and women needs in Japan?
I have to ask, the shimmer shadow you're wearing... what is it???? It's so pretty! I notice it every time you have it on in your videos and think how I have to buy it haha
The vid would have been more interesting if you also included how much your apartment costs, or like 1/4th of the price for a week, as well as a rough estimate of your salary to get a feeling for how expensive this is compared to your income. Expenses alone are very uninteresting if you dont have the income as a point of reference
price is comparable to most places you live. It usually depends on what your Dailly/weekly/monthly budget is and if your allowing for paying for all your bills / rent. if your eating out all the time then you'll probably spend more than you would if you go to the supermarket and buy food for the week
you have underspent, I once tracked my expenses and if I don't overspend, its usually around 80000 a week. Ofcourse it helps that you are mostly working from home.
You need to not just plain slice your carrot but do as the Japanese do and cut it 乱切り style. I do like to thin out my left over curry with dashi for curry udon.
I only have a mini burrito from Guz & Go. I have to have a Choc top at the Ritz which is my local cinema (nostalgia). Popcorn is a rip off. I only spend on my dog now. He a money pit (bull).
51K yen (or around 350 USD) for a week of spending on food and leisure activities seems like quite a lot, although especially the clothes shopping (14K yen) and capsule hotel (9K) add up quickly. Take those off, and you'll end up with 28K yen (or around 190 USD), which is already a lot more reasonable.
@@JustShelby888 I have been looking at this through a Western European perspective, so I am used to relatively high prices. But like I already said, the clothes shopping and a hotel stay skew the end result quite a bit, as most people (including Sarah herself, I'm assuming) obviously won't do that on a weekly basis. With those taken out, it's already becoming more like what one could reasonably expect in the capital city of a relatively wealthy country. Especially if you have takeaway and/or eat out for breakfast and/or lunch fairly often.
@@jdjphotographynl yeah I was mostly looking at the food prices and it’s literally double the price here in Florida for all the food that she ate. And we don’t have the convenience of convenience stores. 😝 what food that’s actually edible. It’s usually just sugary junkie snacks.
Let's say 200 USD per week which is about the same we spend in a household of five in Western Europe in the countryside for food and leisure. Were not even saving hard, it includes restaurant visits train tickets, etc. Cost of living in the city is really high.
@@beenbr7803 wow my food budget for a single person is $125 here in America. And that’s just me eating out twice a week. And I try to eat a lot of organic food, because you know our food supply here in America is screwed. And gluten-free stuff plus lot of specialty stuff. Yes, you CAN! I just bought it this week. $5 at Coles. Comes in 'mild/medium/hot': S & B Golden Curry Mild Curry Sauce Mix . Now waiting for Seerasan to share her recipe...

The cost in Japan is cheap now. But cost in Tokyo is too much for me. I live in out side in Tokyo and our cost is lower .now I live in Germany and I cannot eat something in restaurant. 😂but Price in supermarket here(Muenster) is friendly for me and can survive. I hope you good jerney ❤
Entertaining as always, do they have the S & B Japanese Curry Sachet's in Japan ? Great for lazy people like me as you only have to throw into boiling water in a sauce pan for 3-5 minutes and presto .
I'm always wowed by people who spend money every day with their routines/addictions/sweet treats. For things outside costs I cannot avoid (eg. public transport and groceries), I'd say I only spend money 3 days a week.
Your spending budget isnt that bad tbh. Its within budget for me. I would probably spend way less money on cafe's though and put that towards other things but that is more or less what I would expect someone who is spending within their means and isnt going overboard living in Tokyo with a decent salary like yours. What I found fascinating is that doctors appointments is so cheap in japan wow. The 2000 yen you spent for the visit plus the meds is less than a bowl of ramen in the US thats INSANE. That appointment would easily be 500 USD and meds $30. That large tub of popcorn where you basically spent less than $3 USD is a $10-$15 dollar thing in even the shabbiest theatres in the US. Absolutely HATE the unchecked capitalism here in the states. Everything continues to get more expensive. Im considering leaving and moving to mexico City where I was born and have citizenship status. Way more affordable there
Another great day when seerasan uploads a new video! 😃 When it comes to spending money, it is yours, we live once, and we should enjoy life we are given. 💛Personally I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to money since I value freedom above everything else. I spend about 500EUR per month in total here in Sweden. That includes my studio apartment and all my expenses, food included... I did buy my apartment and I don't have a car or loans eating up my economy. I bike everywhere, I have an espresso machine, and I usually bring coffee in a thermos (and water in a water bottle) if I go to the library or the local park. I can't justify 5EUR+ buying coffee at cafés when my own coffee is equally as good, or better. 😁For me it's basically about being financially independent. Not by being rich, but rather reducing my spending to a level where I barely need to work and can focus on my hobbies instead. 🙃
I wonder if the theaters in Japan see an larger or earlier cut of the ticket sales than in countries like Canada, US and Australia and don't need to focus so much on concession profits.
Not the Yellowtail!!! ha. I know that you do eat some meat, but one thing I've recently acquired is vegetarian oyster sauce. It's super handy when you have veggie friends and it accomplishes all of the same flavour goals.
Omg yes I actually buy a vegan oyster sauce here and it’s the best!! You can only find it in fancy international supermarkets which is why I haven’t stocked back up but yes I love using it!! Also I like yellow tail 😂 reminds me of home hahahaha
With 30% subsidy it's $12 for an op to fix her ear in Japan. I want to know how its $4000 with insurance that costs $2000/month in the US (Total = $6000). US is such a hostile place in terms of healthcare and eldercare. Wonder if it's better or worse in Australia.
Wow one whole week of keeping myself financially accountable!!! Do you think I overspent that week.. or underspent? 💰🇯🇵 (Alsoooo I just came back from Europe & I now realise how cheap Japan is hahaha)

Hi there! Thanks for the great videos! Can you get that curry packet in Australia?
Yes, you CAN! I just bought it this week. $5 at Coles. Comes in 'mild/medium/hot': S & B Golden Curry Mild Curry Sauce Mix . Now waiting for Seerasan to share her recipe...
@@wasabigirl2004 Thankyou!! I’ll grab a packet today woo hoo!
You need to tell us the conversion from yen to US dollar like most channels and it helps us a lot. Thanks for your time.
that tiramisu thing looks amazing
It was so tasty 🤤🍫
Pikachu is the goat ❤

Steps:
- Combine the miso & cream in pan

@@seerasan Thank you ☺
The cost in Japan is cheap now. But cost in Tokyo is too much for me. I live in out side in Tokyo and our cost is lower .now I live in Germany and I cannot eat something in restaurant. 😂but Price in supermarket here(Muenster) is friendly for me and can survive.
I hope you good jerney ❤
Pikachu is the coolest. There's a reason they're the Pokémon mascot!
Cheers mate mate you got it done
As an Italian, you never make too much pasta 🥰🥰
Entertaining as always, do they have the S & B Japanese Curry Sachet's in Japan ? Great for lazy people like me as you only have to throw into boiling water in a sauce pan for 3-5 minutes and presto .
Hmmm I'm sure they do have it, but never seen it myself since I don't buy too many packet/instant things 🤔 Does sound convenient though!!
@@seerasan I get it at Woolies in Coffs
Yes, in Japan they're called "retort curry" and they're very common, even as souvenirs from different places!
About $1.20aud for a bottle of water. In so many machines around Sydney lately it’s like $5. It makes leaving your bottle at home, really hurt.
Ugh Australia and its bottled water prices will never make sense 😭
I'm always wowed by people who spend money every day with their routines/addictions/sweet treats. For things outside costs I cannot avoid (eg. public transport and groceries), I'd say I only spend money 3 days a week.
I definitely need to get my Japanese cheesemaking business up and running to help save you food costs!
Way more affordable there
13:41 Attack On Titan bite right there 😆
Another great day when seerasan uploads a new video! 🙃
Udon fixes everything ❤
