I must admit, South Africa has one of the worst immigrations laws on this planet. It sometimes takes more than a year before you get any response for a visa application, and even then the response will most likely be negative. You have to fight through the court system in order to get a visa that enables you to stay in SA.

You give them $7000 and they still turn you down after a two year "review" and you don't get your money back. I'm headed there in a couple weeks to take my chances of retiring there. I always did and still do to this day. My mother told me to do so because of an emergency. Banks close down and you are broke because you can't get money. Everyone in my family keep them big water jugs full of coins and paper money as well.

Funny side note..... we live in the south and after the mass shooting of that all black church our pastor called a special after church meeting for all the deacons and elders (included my parents) to vote on having 6 members sitting in various spots every service with handguns.
